1103.11.2019TSwifty8.0Decided to rewatch this before i watched Takeshita's next title defense. This is a weird, disjointed match. There's a great match in here somewhere, but it ends up being very good at best. The first minutes were formulaic until we got some nice leg work by Brookes. The leg work made sense and Takeshita sold very well at first. There were some nicely executed moves in the first half and it kept the audience invested. The second half is a bit of a mess. They were doing too much. 2 ref bumps, a ladder spot, a low blow, and after all this the leg work was totally forgotten. Takeshita was great as always on the offense, throwing big bombs and executing everything with a nice impact. Sadly, Takeshita's good performance just wasn't enough to elevate this match to greatness. The overbooking hurt it and it wasn't nearly as jaw dropping to watch as Takeshita/Endo was at Peter Pan. ****
1209.10.2019arrancar6.0I think Takeshita is just so great that I'll always find his matches good at worst. This wasn't a match I'll remember by this time next year, or even by the end of the year, but it was still quite good. We got some basic exchanges early on while Takeshita ensured they remained interesting as he threw in his few flashy spots. Brookes then began targeting Takeshita's leg and Takeshita would sell extremely well in the short term, constantly limping and slumping over to show the clear pain he was in. I also appreciated this for the reason that it made Brookes look intelligent, since he obviously knew of Takeshita's trademark fast-paced and heavily animated style, so he naturally tried to avoid that by wearing him down via this work on his leg. They would then have a very disjointed second half, as they mixed in some impressive big-bomb exchanges (where Takeshita looked fantastic and Brookes was fine) with some pretty deflating ref bump spots which would constantly ruin the match flow. I still enjoyed the moments in this period where Takeshita and Brookes would wrestle seriously, but I couldn't get past how annoying those ref bump spots were. Takeshita had dropped his leg selling rather significantly during this second half, but I wasn't too annoyed by that because Brookes himself had stopped targeting the leg, so it felt reasonable in kayfabe for Takeshita to likewise not sell it as much (though he definitely did still sell it at moments, so it wasn't like he was ever flat out no-seling). The match continued to impress whenever both men would frantically trade their big strikes and power moves, but those exchanges unfortunately weren't as frequent as I would have liked. This also really didn't need to go nearly 30 minutes long to tell the story that they did. 20 minutes would have been plenty, and would have ensured a lot of needless exchanges were cut out. ***1/4

2026.07.2019gumo1238.0Good match, with some amazing spots like the cutter by Brookes on the table. However I felt this match had overbooking I mean two referees getting hit, a low blow and a submission while there was no knocked down. It felt like one of those overbooked WWE main events, but still good enough to close the show
2126.07.2019Dragon Fighter3.0This is kind of a mess. Massive letdown from the Peter Pan main event. Chris Brookes fucking sucked in this match. His offenses looked totally garbage and super sloppy. The leg work early was total pointless and both ignored later. And 2 fucking ref bumps, really? I am not harsh about the ref bump but this was incredibly lame. Takeshita looked alright later and Brookes continued to be sloppy and awkward. The match ended with a bridge suplex without feeling anything from the leg work. And the Korkuen Hall was super quiet and only loud for a couple of spots. Terrible.

2622.07.2019Dooby9.0I don't know if it's just me who's noticing it, but Takeshita is reaching the level of greatness where he can have really great matches with anybody. Not as incredible as the Peter Pan match with Endo, but he had another 30 minute match that just flew by. I've always thought Chris Brookes has been good, but he really stepped it up to bring out some great chemistry with the DDT Ace. Not everyone might be a fan of the overbooking in this match, but it had just the right amount of unpredictability to make me enjoy this a lot, ****1/2.
2721.07.2019DragonDor Really good match, a bit disjointed in parts, but these two put on a show, incorporating brawling, hardcore, chain wrestling, high flying, power moves. ****1/2. the ref bumps added to the insanity and a crazy bump off the Korakuen stairs drew a holy shit chant from the crowd, although, psychologically, I'm not sure what Takeshita was planning during that spot? excellent stuff and well worth tracking down.
