419.04.2021r0bczar10.0This match was a David vs Goliath match. Zeus got alot of offense against Ishikawa. But in the end, Ishikawa found the right opportunity to steal the momentum. ****(1/2)

1009.10.2019arrancar8.0One of my favourite matches of the 2019 Champion Carnival, and one which I think people have weirdly underrated. The intensity and physicality was off the charts here, and in the current day where you can get a cheap 'big strikes' match from every single Japanese promotion basically every week, these two guys managed to still work that basic formula in a super explosive manner. The match was super exciting right from the bell. Zeus was an outstanding babyface as he tried to wear down the monster that is Ishikawa. I loved all the extra little gestures and expressions he added with every big move he performed, since it made them all feel more realistic and more expressive of his character. Zeus would also prove to be a fantastic powerhouse and -- somehow -- an even more compelling underdog. That's not surprising though, considering how Ishikawa's brutal, vicious offence allowed Zeus every opportunity to get sympathy from the crowd (as well as myself! ) as he valiantly withstood all those attacks and always did his absolute best to fight back, even as he was seemingly near unconscious. Both guys pushed each other to the limit, and the match would further pick up as they both brought out their big bombs and some super convincing 2. 99 kick-outs. The second big strike battle with Zeus just unloading and eventually clubbing Ishikawa down was damn beautiful, and then Ishikawa went back to hitting all his own crazy, crazy power moves once again. Zeus somehow survived Ishikawa's running knee lift with a 1-count kick-out, and then he shockingly kicked out of the second follow-up knee lift, all of which was incredibly hyped. Zeus would sadly end up eventually falling to the Giant Slam, but damn did he give an amazing performance, and I couldn't be disappointed with Ishikawa getting the win, since his own performance proved he deserved it. This was amazing, and you NEED to see it if you haven't already. ****1/4

1512.07.2019Dragon Fighter8.0Great match but it didn't have the energy and intensity of the Okabayashi vs Zeus match. I feel like at some points, the match has down time and the energy was brought down. The rest was as we would expected, a hoss fight with full of big moves thrown to each other. Could have been better though.

1927.05.2019LucaZV8.0Zeus went in beast mode early in the match and dominated the action for the majority of time, ma Ishikawa was there answering everything he was throwing at him. The final 5 minutes were great, with Zeus kicking out at one making my day. Great stuff, these two delivered again. ****
2021.05.2019glassS0Ldier8.0Loved this! Shuji may have a tendency to coast during tournaments, but he'll always bring it for the finals. Zeus has been very consistent this entire tournament, on the other hand, and puts out another great performance here. The suplex into the ring was wild, among many other impressive spots. Hope this doesn't get overshadowed by Kento/Okabayashi.

2601.05.2019NastyYaffa8.0An absolutely AWESOME heavyweight collision! Loved how at first Zeus is low-key dominating Shuji, but then Shuji gets back into things w/ his brutal comeback flurries, and as that dynamic goes for a while, it eventually escalates into a full-on bomb warfare. Definitely one of the highlights of this year's Carnival.

3428.04.2019EvanCallaway7.0We had two behemoths facings each other in a very nice hard-hitting exchange here. However, I don't feel the modern day All Japan match structure appeals to me as much as it does for others. There are too many kick-outs, and the matches always go longer than they should.

4126.04.2019Dooby8.0Another big beefy match on the final night of A-Block. This didn't reach the heights of their incredible Triple Crown match last year, nor was this as good as Zeus's match with Yuji, but this was still a powerful banger. A nonstop pace of bombs. I love Shuji as much as the next guy, but damn did Zeus steal the show here, ****1/4.
