[7.0] "The best match on the show here, in my opinion. Both of these guys have really made a bigger name for themselves this year, so it's cool to see them closing out Rampage. It's especially cool to see Hechicero getting the win, as it feels like "non-AEW" wrestler typically loses whenever they wrestle someone from the AEW roster on an AEW show."
[8.0] "Great stuff. Incredibly technical and yet plenty of explosive spots that show off both men's athleticism. Hechicero's guillotine headscissors maneuver in particular was awesome. Again, just a shame this crowd didn't really care, although they gradually did warm to Hechicero. ****"
[7.0] "Sweet match that really clicks late, combining for some spectacular fireworks in the finishing run. Before that, this drifts a touch, though Komander hanging in there on the mat is a neat element early. To that point, the variety of offence here is a highlight throughout, with Hechicero so effortlessly blending bombs together. ***1/4"
[6.0] "I have some mixed feelings about this match: I think that the first half of it was kinda sloppy and with some minor botches; the second half, however, was really fun. Overall, a match worth checking out. (***)."
[7.0] "For a random throwaway Rampage main event with zero build, this was fantastic. Two great workers doing their thing on national television is something I can get behind even though it probably doesn't do anything for AEW business wise."
[7.0] "This was pretty good. The zero build dream match concept isn't my thing but these two can go and with the proper build this could've beena banger."
[6.0] "First time watching Rampage in quite a while and it's hard to ignore the heavily depressing funereal vibe. I don't know what it's going to take for TK to realise that the rest of the world doesn't get as excited as he does about all these zero-build 'dream' matches. I could watch Hechicero's control & counter wrestling all day, but Komander's lightweight flippy shit barely registered here ***"
[9.0] "Like most people these days, I don't spend a lot of time on Rampage. Not that there aren't talented folks on there but, well, there's only so much time in the week after all. But when I saw this match I hoped to make time to check it out, and it was well worth it! Komander is a very fun high flyer who can be a little hit or miss at times, but he's getting more well rounded all the time. And here he is fighting MY MAN Hechicero, the wizard of Lucha! Hechicero has my luchador of the year pretty much locked up at this point, I love how he blends his nuanced technical style with being a deceptively quick and hard hitting guy, not to mention bigger than your average modern luchador and still capable of pretty much anything you could ask of him. This match gelled extremely well despite (because of? ) the clash of styles, the way Hechicero trapped Komander's arm off that top rope attack was so sick, it looked very natural and I genuinely bought that Komander would go down to that move. He barely escaped but took the loss soon after and Hechicero was looking damn good. I like Komander but too bad Hechicero wasn't available for the C2..."
[9.0] "I really enjoyed this match, watching Komander work a more grounded style and exchange with Hechicero was something I didn't expect, and was surprised at how well he did. They just meshed very well together with the moonsault into the armbar being an insane spot and the highlight of the match for me."
"Very good match. Hechicero has a great presence on US TV and brings something very unique compared to everyone else. He's turned himself into a travelling attraction in 2024. Komander's rounded out his game very well in 2024 and the result was one of the best matches on AEW TV this week. A lot of guys have done the armbar trap type move but Hechicero really sold the "trap" aspect. Very cool detail."
[7.0] "This was great. Genuinely a great match on Rampage. The reversal into the armbar was one of the best things Ive seen in ages and Hechicero is a revelation."
[8.0] "Hechicero continues to be very good and CMLL's luchadors continue to impress when given time on AEW TV. really good stuff, really solid main event for rampage, and very lucky to see this kind of match on TV. Probably the best match of the entire night just for its technical pacing. Probably the best match televised in North America on this night, but i doubt it will have one tenth of the audience that it should have. Hechicero is VERY good"
[7.0] "Enjoyable match and the best across the three hour block. Good performances from both. Komanders selling of Hechiceros work could have been better but at least Hechicero won."
[8.0] "The best match of this three-hours AEW block for me, I really liked what I saw and it was totally the match I was hoping to see. Everything was super cool between the ropes with lots of energy, good-looking moves and a totally invested crowd, that's all I need to love a Hechicero match."
[7.0] "I thought that this match was really solid, especially for a Rampage outing. Hechicero and Komander worked great together and the crowd was into it."
[8.0] "A match much of the wrestling world will never see because it was up against the first War Games match, but this was a blast. 13-plus minutes of lucha greatness with the contrasting styles of technician Hechicero and modern flyer Komander. This was a first-time match but you wouldn't know it as they worked a fluid, cohesive match packed with lovely sequences, submissions and counters. Hechicero's counter of Komander's moonsault into the armbar was perfect. Hechicero is the standard in 2024 when it comes to the technical lucha style and Komander is one of the most improved wrestlers of 2024, going from something of a one-trick pony to a much more versatile luchador. Crazy thing is, as good as this was, Hechicero had an even better match on Friday night against Mistico at Arena Mexico."
