1022.05.2019arrancar7.0This was heaps of fun. Iwamoto won the Junior Battle of Glory tournament and chose Kotaro as he next challenger, since Iwamoto dropped a fall to him in their block match. Kotaro gained control almost immediately after a very short strike battle. Iwamoto would then constantly try to fight back but Kotaro would just keep applying holds and knocking him back down. There was a botch as Kotaro went for a rebound move off the turnbuckle, but both guys covered nicely which then allowed Iwamoto to gain control (as you'd reasonably expect when someone's opponent slips up in a supposedly real fight). Both guys then began countering and evading each others' signature moves and I not only thought that the technique and athleticism on display was impressive, but I also liked how it portrayed both guys as very intelligent in how they were constantly able to read each other. Iwamoto then brought out some fantastic suplexes while Kotaro relied on a variety of impactful strikes which once again earned him control. Iwamoto had started bringing out his judo offence, which was doing more damage than his other attacks, but Kotaro continued getting back up and would then bring out his own big signature moves. He got some pretty crazy near falls on his Endless Waltz series of pins and also on a series of Excalibur piledrivers, but Iwamoto became more and more desperate and finally got the win after he managed to get 2 of his fantastic hip tosses in a row after constantly failing to even land 1. Both guys looked very good here and both brought something totally different so as to establish themselves individually. There were a awkward moments but this was mostly very compelling. ***3/4

1823.03.2019Yapperman36.0A good closing stretch but main portion was slow and boring. A good and/or bad thing is that you are waiting for the judo throw for koji Iwamoto before you know things are picking up for his matches

3020.03.2019richeyedwards7.0Koji and Suzuki have had 4 singles matches and with the exception of the round robin match from last year? s jr battle off glory they have been fast and stiff jr wars. Doing something that feels different to the heavyweights but still has the weight and impact of the heavyweight wrestles of all Japan. Kotaro most of the match which is the norm with Koji as he likes to work as the underdog and make his sudden brilliant comebacks. They work well together to the point where Suzuki slips on a rope jump and falls koji covers for him by quickly picking him up throwing him into the ropes and gives him one of his many judo throws (can? t remember what this one is called). The match got even more fun after the botch as they made up for it by just going harder and nastier. Very enjoyable match, probably their second best match after the opener from Korakuen in 2017 their first match. ***1/2

3420.03.2019Makai Club 6.0Good match. A slow start but the pace picked up and it turned into a pretty fun back and forth battle. Iwamoto hitting his judo throw out of desperation is always a great way to finish a match. ***

3619.03.2019RealBillyC8.0Match started off kinda slow, but once it got going, it REALLY got going. Iwamoto is at his weakest when he is just selling, and selling, and selling. Once he gets to run around and do all of his cool moves and pick up the pace, the match gets super hot. This match was a great continuation of the storyline of the Junior Battle of Glory, where Iwamoto is setting out to establish himself as the best junior heavyweight. Suzuki was the only guy to beat him in that tournament, and he got his revenge here, winning decisively with multiple judo throws (****).
