[4.0] "I found this match boring. I'm sick and tired of Jericho trying to embrace the "go away" heat that he's receiving. He needs to go away for 3-4 months so I can start missing him. Instead, he's mucking up AEW programming with this boring gimmick."
[6.0] "Chris Jericho's best match, but that's definitely because of Mark Briscoe, not Jericho. Gotta say though, this match definitely feels a little worse knowing these two would have another match that would lead to Jericho winning the title. I understand why, as ROH is on it's way of getting a TV deal and having a recognizable world champion such as Jericho might be the way to go, but it just gives me the ick. At least in this way, he's less viewable on AEW. Thanks for that, I guess."
[6.0] "This was Jericho's best match in a minute and yet it was still only okay, he shouldn't be in any title picture let alone a belt as prestigious as the ROH World Title in 2024. Mark got the win and it should've ended there, however it didn't and the worst is yet to come sadly. Mark Briscoe is super talented and deserves way better."
[6.0] "It was a decent match but putting again Jericho around the ROH World title picture in 2024 should be federal crime. Really I thought it was decent but the story is forgettable at best, like who cares about Jericho in 2024 ? Unfortunately, I know it's not the end of this story..."
[6.0] "It was the best Jericho match in a good while, and probably the worst Mark Briscoe's Title defense... that should tell everything you need to know, and that's all I have to say. (***1/4)."
[7.0] "Match started off pretty well but in the middle it got a little bit odd with the ineterferences in the middle. Because of Briscoe it was still somehow interesting throughout despite that and Jericho also performed slightly better than usual. Just a pretty good bout but overall I think it could have been a disaster so I'll take that. ***1/2"
[6.0] "This match honestly was better than I expected. Jericho is getting up there, and at times, his ring work suffers quite a bit, but he held his own here. Loved Jericho using the Jay Driller to garner some heat, and Marks subsequent hulking up actually worked for that, and Im not a fan of it as much, but it was used incredibly well here. Could have done without all the interference spots, but I get it with the storyline, just isnt for me though. Mark makes it here though, and glad our master of Redneck Kung Fu retains, always had a soft spot for Mark in particular of the Briscoes, and glad he kept the belt."
[5.0] "***1/2 interesting match, one of the best of Jericho this year, the story was interesting, Jericho did a good job as a heel, normal chemistry, interesting sequences, and a good ending"
[6.0] "I have had a strong disdain for Jericho's work over the last two years so a 6 from me is quite high but this one was surprisingly solid, Mark Briscoe is genuinely amazing and this is probably my first Jericho match I've enjoyed since the first All In, so fair enough to em because this was a solid match."
[9.0] "I lowkey love this match so much. It was surprisingly good but mainly carried for me by the fact I was there live in the crowd. The biggest and best part of this was the fact me and a couple of loud ass people behind me were screeching for Chris Jericho and the whole time I'm talking to my dad about how this match is rigged and that Mark Briscoe should be disqualified but actually was like wait no he shouldn't be disqualified because then he wouldn't win the belt. I just had a grand old time with this one."
[6.0] "It was fine. Chris jericho was better than usual and I'm very thankful that we didn't get the cheap heat of him winning the ROH title like we did last time he was fueding with the ROH champion. Mark Briscoe was also fun, did alot of brutal brawler spots but while the redneck kung fu gimmick is funny, get it put of the ROH main event please it's just too silly for me"
[7.0] "The best Jericho match of the year. For as much criticism as Jericho receives, he still has a tremendous mind for putting matches together and implementing believable near-falls. The surprising Codebreaker catching Mark off the ropes, the Judas Effect out of nowhere, and Jericho's stealing of the Jay Driller were all moments I bit on and thought the match was over. Hitting finishers is something anybody can do, but the way Jericho segued into them was cleverly done and unexpected. Mark Briscoe is a ball of energy who has enough charisma to make any match fun and I loved the Hulking up spot."
[7.0] "Mark Briscoe vs. Chris Jericho was so much better than it had any right being. Briscoe is undeniably entertaining and knows how to showcase his ability against any opponent. Jericho was also very good in his own right here (***1/2)"
[7.0] "A 2024 Jericho match. It was helped greatly by the overwhelming charisma of Briscoe and a surprise table spot I wasn't expecting. Mark kicking out at 1 after a Jay Driller was so amazing but the only real memorable moment. 7/10."
[6.0] "[6.0] This was fine which is surprising considering you have Jericho in this. I am not a big fan of ROH titles being defended on AEW shows and ppvs but this had am added incentive of getting to see Jericho getting his ass kicked by Mark Briscoe. But this was very 50-50. I would have liked to see more offence from Briscoe. And just like other Learning Tree matches this match had interference from Bill and Keith but OC and Romero arrived to stop them. I didn't mind this match but this could have been a lot better if they tried."
[7.0] "For what Jericho has left in the tank, Mark Briscoe is pretty much the ideal opponent. The lads lean on clobbering here and overcome a tired crowd for a good title tilt, never allowing that energy to sap the match's intended fire and physicality. Jericho can only do so much at this point but clearly wanted to do right by Mark here, with the Jay element being paid off on the conclusive, satisfying finish. On this card, it's one of the weaker matches but it's a good one nonetheless, navigating the placement with grit and knowhow. ***1/4"
[7.0] "Not a bad Chris Jericho match, especially for how he has been recently. Personally what made me enjoy this match as much as I did was Mark doing Mark things, and Chris Jericho having the heel mentality to use the Jay Driller on Mark. Honestly it made me wish Jericho would drop this Learning Tree gimmick and just do the heel shit."
[6.0] "hopefully this is the end of Jericho on tv. it will always be hard to get into his matches when he is the worst on screen character in wrestling. this was however better than most of his matches in recent memory and some decent storytelling. **3/4"
[7.0] "Briscoe overpowers Jericho to start and pummels him in the corner before being hit immediately with a codebreaker, Jericho covers Briscoe who kicks out at one. Jericho kinda mistimes it and Briscoe clotheslines him over the top rope and they both go to the outside. Vertical suplex on the outside and a diving elbow from the apron. Briscoe throws the chair into the ring, sets it up and Jericho throws it away before he can use it for the tope, but he does the tope con hero anyways without it. Briscoe sets Jericho in the chair on the outside and then hits a blockbuster while Jerichos sitting on the chair. Big Bill takes it over and sets up a table before Orange Cassidy comes out and Orange Punches Big Bill all over the place. Jericho runs like an idiot on the outside before Briscoe drops him on his back on the apron, then they battle back in the ring with forearms and chops before a Death Valley driver by Bricoe, a headbutt and a kick on the outside, Mark double hooks the arms of Jericho before Jerichoo stops him, then hits a vertical suplex off the apron, that looked rough. Jericho grabs the camera and beats up Mark, Jericho really chops the shit out of Briscoe here, Mark hits some redneck kung fu, heads to the top rope, gets cut off by Jericho who clears him out by his legs and then punches Mark and hits a hurricanrana from the top rope. Some flying forearms by Mark, starts to gain some momentum, chops Jericho in the corner, some redneck kung-fu, Jericho gets hit with a fisherman buster and kicks out of the pin at two. Jericho gets the lion tamer locked in deep, Mark gets to the ropes. Jericho argues with the ref while Bryan Keith hits Mark with a belt, Mark kicks out of the pin at a deep two. Jericho brings a chair in to the ring as Bryan Keith gets taken out by Mark kicks him and sets the chair back up in the ring, does a tope con hilo of of it on Jericho and through the table. Mark heads up to the top rope after throwing Chris back into the ring, goes for a diving elbow but gets hit with a Codebreaker. Jericho misses the judas effect, Mark cant hit the jay driller, Jericho hits the Judas effect. Jericho stalls for a while, lifts Mark up, and sets him up for the Jay driver to add insult to injury, hits it and then pins him, but Mark kicks out, good false finish. Mark has a look of fury on his face, Mark powers up from the punches and hits some machine gun chops before hitting a chin thrust, Death Valley driver, heads to the top rope and hits a froggy bow, looks up to the heavens, hits the Jay Driller, and gets the pin on Jericho. Solid match."
[7.0] "A brawl of match, large portions of which took place on the floor. Thematically this worked for me: Jericho's comments about his brother demanded a heavy response from Briscoe, and correspondingly that Jericho be able to match it. It probably also hid some of Jericho's weaknesses in the ring, although there are still some apparent flaws -- a series of punches on the top rope looked pretty bad, and I have a pretty high threshold for noticing that sort of thing. But the psychology and structure of the match worked, they really sold Jericho winning with the Jay Driller well and a nice change of pace with a grounded physical match that the clear face won on a day with a lot of victorious heels and high fliers. Also I feel like using a chair to jump off should be a DQ? I would like to see someone try and write a rulebook, just to see what shakes out."
[6.0] "Surprisingly fun tbh Briscoe's energy and emotion are electric and infectious, and Jericho continues to be Chris Jericho in all the best and worst ways, but really meets Briscoe where he's at in what is ultimately a rather emotional performance. Some points of worse pacing and certainly some forgettable minutes, but the major spots all hit you hard and stick with you, and a great ending. Jericho is just so detestable and slimy but thinking about all the times he's gotten pissy about finisher infringement really weighed that Jay Driller with so many emotions, most of which is feeling all of Mark's passion and emotion as he kicks out at 2.9. A nice watch."
[6.0] "An okay enough match which made use of Briscoes fire vs Jericho's smarmy heel work. The best part was the Jericho-level hyperbole on commentary that Terrifier 3 is Jericho's film. He's in it for about two minutes (though I did like his part in it and came away wishing the entire thing had been about him)."
[5.0] "[5.75] This felt like a bit like an after-thought of a match, and I don't enjoy that it was built with "cheap heat" on Jericho's part, but Mark Briscoe's comeback sequence did add a bit of interest to the end of the match."
[6.0] "honestly not horrible. Briscoe is so damn good he just got jericho to probably his best match of the year. This is soooo much better then anything that jericho and hook did together. Really enjoyed the table spot and the jay driller from jericho before mark gets an emotional win with the jay driller. Honestly not much is memorable about this match but for what it was its alright. 3 stars"
[5.0] "Typical boring Jericho match. Mark is too good to be lowering himself for a match like this. Not much happens here tbh. There's a bad table break and a pretty great moment where Mark fires up after getting hit with the Jay Driller but that's about it. Please get the Conglomeration as far away from Jericho as possible now. **1/2"
[6.0] "This was fine for what it was. Briscoe delivered a great performance, but man it's time for Jericho to step away for a bit. It's just hard to get excited for anything he does anymore. ***"
[7.0] "As someone who was in attendance at All In, it was almost comical seeing several hundred people get out of their seats as soon as Jericho's face appeared on the screens. So you come into late 2024 expecting a piss-break match, and anything more is a pleasant surprise. Which is what this match was, really: if he is to stay on AEW programming (which is debatable), then Mark really did need this sort of win. Nothing wrong with the Conglomeration of course - they're surprisingly entertaining - but he needs more than trios wins. Whilst the weakest match on the card, it was still competently worked enough to get a 7."
[6.0] "This overdelivered quite a lot. I mean it's just satisfactory but considering how low were my expecations, this overdelivered. Briscoe's just too good and can have a good match even with 2024 Jericho who, to be fair, delivered his best performance this year. There were some intereferences, a table bump and some a couple of good spots. I really liked Jericho using the Jay-Driller only for Mark to kickout and get back up. Mark won after a froggy bow and a Jay-Driller. Nothing crazy in reality but really good for Jericho's standards. 6/10 - 3*/5*"
[6.0] "Maybe the most surprising match on the card, purely based on how engaged I was toward the finishing stretch. While I am higher on Jericho matches than others, I do agree with the sentiment that his feuds often feel forced and continue long past their sell-by date. However, the quick, but personal build allowed Jericho and Briscoe to rely on their in-ring storytelling and these two both are veterans at emotionally captivating their audience. Not necessarily a stellar encounter, but I appreciate the effort given and the focus on the Ring of Honor World Titles importance. (***)"
[6.0] "This was an okay title defense didn't expect a Chris Jericho Match to be a Semi - Main Event Match for any event this year but here we are. Mark Briscoe gets the win to retain which was the right decision because Mark Briscoe been a very solid champion."
[4.0] "This somehow was not as bad as I was expecting, but give all the credit here to Mark Briscoe. Bless his heart. I hope TK gives Briscoe more opportunities to shine on PPV in singles matches without someone like 2024 Jericho. But Briscoe did a great job in hooking in with emotion and making this at least somewhat passable."
[8.0] "This, at many points of the match, had such an off-vibe that most Chris Jericho matches do, but man, Mark mothafuggen Briscoe worked his ass off. Terrific energy from him start to finish & a superb babyface shift all around. Completely made the match worthwhile. This ended up being legitimately really good (which is something you rarely can say about Y2J matches), and all I can say is Mark Briscoe! What a performance, what a babyface, what a wrestler!"
[3.0] "Marc Briscoe carried the match, which is sad since I hoped that Jericho could catch himself once again and show us why he is one of the very best of all time. Disappointing match but right winner."
[7.0] "I feel like any Jericho match gets a point or two knocked off because people don't like him personally. And while I empathize with that because I'm not exactly a fan of his worldviews, either, I think we need to separate the character from the person. And Jericho, for all his flaws, continues to be a compelling on-screen performer. He has had a few clunkers lately (Mexico most notably) but this match was rock solid. Briscoe is one of AEW's most underappreciated gems, and I loved the storytelling here leading up to the match. I would've liked to see this be a bit more intense and violent given that the underlying story involved Jericho bringing up Jay Briscoe, but it still did the trick. And Briscoe holding the ROH belt makes a ton more sense than Jericho getting another title."
[7.0] "People will shit on this just for being Jericho, and I get it. This could've been a Collision main event. But in a vacuum the match was quite good and was hurt by its inclusion on the ppv and the death slot."
[6.0] "I mean, this has to be one of Jericho's better performances in the recent times. Briscoe carried this match and he did fine, but Codebreaker has been a joke of a move recently. Nothing to write home about"
[8.0] "I thought this was the best Jericho match in ages. Mark was a great foil for him. Finish built around the Jay Driller was a great feel good moment."
[6.0] "Wait. Good? A Learning Tree match? Good? Really? Damn. Obviously Mark Briscoe does the best of the bunch, that's to be expected, but the general flow of this is much better than what Jericho has churned out this year. Spots work, Mark's over as hell, Jericho will never be over again, and they make that work. Briscoe gets hit with everything and kicks out of everything's and that's as good of a character assassination Tony Khan has the balls to give Chris Jericho. Now go take some time off, lardass"
[6.0] "[3.0*] This was surprisingly a fun-ass match. I started it off joking with my friends that Antonio Inoki was going to come down here from the heavens just to stop this match, and while he probably would have indeed done that, I had a great time watching it. When Jericho looked up at the sky and did the Jay Driller I really thought it was over and my heart paralyzed for a second, but when Mark won I popped so much, it was one of my happiest moments of the show. Mark Briscoe is just one of the best wrestlers ever and I would not complain at all if we had a Mark vs Mox, Champion vs Champion match somewhere down the line as he came to the ring to rescue Bryan. They really should do it."
[7.0] "Well, just like with the Perry match, I will probably see myself swimming against the tide here, because I thought this was a HOOT. Yes, the match had a lot of shenanigans, it's a 2024 Jericho match, not everything was perfect, but this the co-main event, and really warmed up a total dead crowd for the main event. The crowd was legit dead when this started, they were tired and making every match worse, so I knew this had the tough mission to wake them up and set up the main event at a nice tone, and I think they did just that, Mark Briscoe is special, he tried everything he could to make this good, and he did it, awesome performance, he did a lot of taunts, tried everything, and he's super charismatic... the style of the match helped as well, nobody wanted a Jericho win, it would be catastrophic, so a lot of energy was put into Mark here, and gladly he retained the title, after a homage to his late brother Jay, a satisfying conclusion to a fun match - {***1/4}"
[5.0] "Mark Briscoe is amazing. He emotes like no one else in wrestling and is always over in the building, he took a garbage story that tried to use death in a 2010s WWE kind of way and pulled something watchable out of Jericho( in the death spot as well), that being said it's time for Jericho to call it a day. This match worked cause they went for kind of a sprint compared to the expectations and didn't try to do too much drama, there were enough bells and whistles too to cover for the lack of pace in a 2024 Jericho match."
