Paul Orndorff's storyline is one of my favourites things of all SMW, he is great on the mic and on the ring, really entertaining. Buddy Landel debuts and has a nice match, is a good heel with some good moves. The main event wasn't the best, but Dutch Mantell's commentary was really fun, saying i tought him that' whenever Stiles hit a move and the opposite or insulting him when Dynamite had the upperhand. I imagine this are the seed for a future feud. |

(**¼) / Orndorff vs. Davey: Perfectly acceptable wrestling with a good finish as Orndorff finds a new move to replace the banned piledriver. (**¾) / Landell vs. Riggins: As part of the three "Nature Boy" of professional wrestling, Landell was easily the weakest of the three. Doesn't mean he wasn't good (far from that) as his heel work was great here, same with his in-ring skill. This was an overall fine debut. (**) / Dynomite vs. Stiles: A fine main event with a stupid finish which might spark som tensions between Mantell and Stiles. (**) / Overall: In terms of matches quality, this show actually did deliver (no matches under two stars for the first time! ). We got to see the debut of Buddy Landell and Paul Orndorff continue being awesome (wonder why hasn't he been used a lot during the last month). |
| 5 | 27.03.2020 | Caas | 4.0 | Hit-and-miss show; at times one of the best weeks of SMW yet, and at others damn-near the worst. Gibson and Rogers had a quick, entertaining match to open the show, though not as good as either man was capable of at the time. After a full TV segment dedicated to recapping the piledriver angle from last week (overkill), Orndorff cut a great scathing promo, then went out and the match of the night -- it's bizarre, but past-his-prime 1992 Paul Orndorff is kind of awesome. A typically excellent Cornette/Heavenly Bodies promo closed out the first half of the show. The second half of the hour pretty much sucked. Buddy Landel's debut had heat, but he underdelivered and thus looked unimpressive. TV mainevent was a complete throwaway. Were the two half-hour blocks rearranged, I'd give this a 6, but given the decline in quality as the show progressed, it's more deserving of a 4. |
| 6 | 04.04.2018 | Fountain of Misinformation | 5.0 | Ricky Morton war damals noch in der WCW unterwegs, weshalb Robert Gibson damals als Single Wrestler aktiv war, netter Kampf gegen Rogers. Der Piledriver-König Orndorff mit einer guten Promo in bekannter Intensität und der gute Commissioner Bob Armstrong zeigte seine Authorität. Dirty Dutch erzählte dass Orndorff Jumbo Tsuruta in Japan und Otto Wanz in Deutschland besiegt hat, immerhin: Hulk Hogan und Ric Flair hat er wirklich besiegt. Orndorff gab Davey Rich ein gutes Match. Buddy Landel feierte seinen Einstand bei Smoky Mountain, das "Right Said Fred"-Theme erinnert an schreckliche Pop-Songs der frühen Neunziger Jahre. Auch ein netter Kampf und auch der letzte Kampf konnte sich sehen lassen, Carl Stiles war gar nicht so untalentiert, wie ich dachte. |
| 7 | 18.08.2013 | sign squad | 5.0 | Angenehme Show die wunderbar auf den Volunteer Slam und das Titletournament hinarbeitet. Rip Rogers mit seinen pinken Hosen, pinken Stiefel und weißen Haaren und ebenso weißen Knieschützern gehört zu den komplett übersehenen Talenten. Mit Gibson als Ultra-Babyface gibt es Tackles, Headlock Takeovers und am Ende zickt Rogers den Ref an, Gibson kommt von hinten mit dem Bulldog und holt den Pinfall. Orndorff bekommt von Armstrong eine 2. 500 Dollar Geldstrafe für seine Aktionen in der Vorwoche und die Androhung, dass er für jeden weiteren Piledriver die gleiche Summe zahlen muss. Orndorff war so klasse im Interview und hat dan ein richtig gutes simples TV Match mit Davey Rich. Buddy Landel als Nature Boy war für mich immer bischen der 3. Aufguss. Buddy Rogers und Ric Flair waren beide meilenweit besser in allem als es Landel war, so dass das Gimmick bei Landel einfach lahm wirkt. Davon abgesehen war er ein ordentlicher Wrestler und als solcher war das Match gegen Riggins total OK. Dy-No-Mite superkickt Stiles nachdem dieser sich Order von Mantell geholt hat. Stiles grüner als der Rasen im Park und üble Akne am Rücken, aber er versucht es wirklich. Zwischendrinn noch eine klasse Promo von Cornette und den Bodies. |
