Disco is out to introduce his new partner after failing on Nitro. He fires the filty animals, yet again, his new partner doesn't come out, konan cuts a promo on him, devolves into a match. Alex Wright runs down and techno dances. The Animals chase them away. Mike Sanders at Russos desk as he a letter saying he's in charge. NBT in Sanders office, Sanders announces a hardcore tournament (Norman seems to have been stripped of the title) winking at reno and Johnny the Bull. Scott Steiner destroys the disco duck, thank god. General Rection is annoyed with the Wall for reasons. Jarrett comes to the ring, runs down Sting, Luger comes through the crowd. Luger claims he's not been allowed on TV cause of Russo and Jarrett, he says helping Russo on Nitro was the biggest mistake of his life. Rection comes out and forgives Luger, and so does the crowd. That was easy. Storm in and heals lay out faces. Hype for Mike Tenay interview with Russo. Luger and Rection respect each other. Sanders wants revenge for Leia Meow pinning him. Mean Gene interviews Filthy Animals, juvey, and rey are going to have the best of 5 series. Hardcore tournament The Wall vs. Johnny The Bull, Wall wins he's bleeding which might have been hard way as they try to avoid filming him and get a towel on him quick. After the match, Scott Steiner runs down and beats them both up and shouts at commentary. Stevie Ray squares up to him but gets taken out with a lead pipe. Mike Awesome arrives in the boogie bus. Sanders wants to hide how badly they are doing from Nash. Stevie Ray is refusing medical attention and wants Scott Steiner in a match. Lava Lounge with Midajah, Awesome says there are 206 bones in the human body and asks if she wants one more... Leia Meow throws Midajah into a plate of cookies (really), and the lava lamp gets destroyed again. The crowd is understandably confused. Jimmy Hart tells Crowbar Daffney and Aussie have gone to Australia. Scott Steiner claims Booker T and Stevie Ray aren't real brothers. Ad for Candian hero Hacksaw Jim Duggan giving an exclusive interview to WCW.com, shame that's lost. There is a sign in the crowd: "What? No Dave Penzer? I feel robbed" which i agree with Pamela is great at backstage interviews, but ring announcing has suffered on this show. Konan joins commentary, which was good to see. Duggan comes to the ring and threatens to sign the Canadian nation anthem. WCW tag team title match Duggan & Skipper vs. Jindrak and O'Haire, the wall comes out with a ridiculous bandage on his head and under chin distracts Duggan for the Thrillers to get the win. Decent match. Duggan and The Wall can't be separated through the break so Sanders kicks them out of the building and books himself in a match next week for the cruiserweight title against Skipper bug books Skipper in a handicap match against Kronik. Skipper lays down to be pinned, but Kronik doesn't fall for it. He takes 3 finishers before the pin. Jarrent and Storm have apparently been strategising all the way through the last 2 matches. Juvey vs. Rey 2 in the best of 5 series. Juvey hurts knee in the exact type of spot. Rey got injured earlier in the year, catching his legs on the ropes, and the match is abandoned. Hardcore tournament semi-final Crowbar (who is depressed about Daffney) vs. Reno (with Johnny the Bull) crowd felt a bit dead during this match. Commentary wonder what's happening with Big Vito's sister, Konan says he's making up the story... so it's Konan's fault! Crowbar sets up a table, but the legs are already broken, classic WCW production. Reno wins after Johnny the Bull interference and hangs Crowbar with his own injured ribs, dressing until Awesome slowly comes down for the save. Awesome promises to fix Crowbar's love problems. Vince Russo interview they have hyped all night, Russo confirms he's the new WCW champion. He says he's done with being in the ring, and he'll make a decision about the belt and Goldberg's future on Nitro. He threatens to reveal a secret about Ric Flair. Russo says Tennay will have to have a match on Nitro cause of how he's treated Midajah and Stacey Kiebler, good! The Thrillers are happy with themselves. Lex Luger and General Rection cut the promo youd expect them to cut. Scott Steiner vs. A dazed and confused Stevie Ray, with Slick Johnson doing Slick Johnson things. Midajah does a top rope high cross body to Stevie Ray, who catches her but gets a low blow from Steiner and put in the recliner. Commentary are still debating who the real WCW champion is. Lance Storm plays the Canadian nation anthem, Konan tells Tennay to call in sick on Monday. Lance Storm & Jeff Jarrett vs. Lex Luger & General Rection. The crowd is happy to see Luger. Lugar turns on Rection when he saves Storm, then fails to get Rection up for the rack (possibly to annoy the crowd) so luger has been heel, face and heel in 3 days that's Big Show levels of heel turns. Pretty average show, some good bits, but the lack of crowd reaction to large parts of the show didn't help. |
