124.11.2018Paul Allain5.0The card looked very promising, but sadly fell a bit short of what it should have been. The opener has a frankly good assortment of talent, but FIP does not give them a good platform to show their stuff. Odinson/Giddins is a very good battle between two hungry young hoss, but again the booking prevents them from truly elevating, but at least for once Rhett Giddins did not have to eat a loss. Cade/Baron was a much better showcase, with a generous time allocation to let them develop their match and a true chance to gain crowd recognition. Chase/Earl could have been good with Chase Brown acumen leading the way, but they sunk deeper and deeper into goofy stuff that made the whole thing look like an awful joke that wasted your time. Jody/Davis overdelivered, as Jody's hot streak continued and he gained a momentous victory on a big name that tried to follow him, continuing the best year of Jody's tenure. Hooligans/Blonde was very short, which worked for the best since the action quality could not have been as good as this squash making The Hooligans look strong. Contrarily, Drennan/Kade started with boring incoherent promos, followed by boring action and a messy ending that helps nobody, especially Drennan who looked like crap and needs tons of help to win a match against a jobber. The best matches were kept for the end. Stone/Kasaa was an explosive fight that puts over the competitiveness of the FIP Heritage Title scene and the domination of champion Martin Stone. Fox/Yehi was a fitting main event and a great victory for Fred Yehi as he builds his legacy, but be aware that instead of an daring AR Fox high-flying festival, this was a mat-based battle until the champion caught the challenger and made him submit. The wrestling is mostly good, but too many times the booking drags on and gets in the way of fun, preventing the show from being its solid self and must contend on being a fairly good event with an irritating number of missed opportunities.
