A lack of motivation is probably responsible for GW not taking the DDT; he certainly had no part w/ the snake unlike Poffo of whom I recently saw take it like a champ. The end of GW's shine is his downfall as JR darted away from the SE buckle, & GW's shoulderblock, laid a shrt elbow in and pinned the glorified jobber. 1 1/2 Jesse is not in the studio as he's filming "Predator" in 'Puerta Vallerta' so J Hart is this week's replacement. Poffo/Orton: At least this week LP hits his springboard somersault from the E ropes. This had lots of moves but it became the victim of diminishing returns. Also LP takes BO's 2nd rope Superplex like a gymnast and not as someone who falls to a devestating maneuver. 2 1/2 Tonga/Christy: A scrappy but aging PC's gonna lose a brawl w/ this guy; check-out Tonga's full palm strikes at the NE buckle. A harsh decisive finish w/ a reverse roundhouse kick and an off-the-ropes headbutt. 2 1/2 Kirchner/Sharpe: We all know the Corporal wasn't any good until he was in FMW. CK uses Sharpe's cast against him for the pinfall. 1 3/4 Rougeau's/Moondogs: This played off a match of theirs from Australia aired last week on this program. Raymond played face-in-peril for a long time, but in Canada this works including the ol' 'he tags but ref doesn't see' thing. In the end, a Jacques leapfrog sends a running Rex into a Raymond sleeper for the pin. 2 1/2 M Gene's guffaws over an incomprehensible Haitian Kid promo are over-the-top to say the least. Muraco/Steamboat: Holy cow! A house show main or semi-main event on P Time and it's easily the best/hottest thing I've seen from Feb-April of '86. It's much more of a match than the silly gimmick though they do use their robes' belts to strangle each other. Ref bump, DM cl, he has the pin but no ref, DM X-body is reversed by RS for the pin. 3 1/3 |
