It's a great show overall, the crowd was molten hot and nothing was outright bad, albeit some stuff was disappointing. Now onto the matches. - Owen/Blake was a good, all-action opener to get the crowd going. A solid choice for a house show opener. ***¼ - Doink/Kid shockingly relied way too much on stalling, never got past second gear but the finish was honestly cool. **½ - Gunns/Headshrinkers was another disappointing match. I liked both teams a bit, although they seem to be phoning it in here which is understandable cause it's a house show, but inexcusable. **¾ - Lawler/Savage. Lawler roasting the crowd was AWESOME, and the heat he got throughout all of this was tremendous. Savage's mini-comeback was fabulous too while it lasted. Too bad about the finish, but it is what it is. As great as you can get in 8 mins under what they're doing. ***½ - Bret/Yoko was my MOTN. A smartly worked Steel Cage bout with lots of brilliant psychology touches. Yoko's selling and reaction was on point, and Bret looked reasonably motivated than usual for a house show like this. Excellent match. **** - Booger/Brawler, a complete squash, though a harmless one. - Six-man tag elimination was a fun way to close out the night. Loved all the interactions between HBK/Marty, HBK/Perfect, and Perfect/Bigelow. I was surprised at how strong they book Diesel here, having him eliminate both Marty and Perfect, plus making him the sole survivor. ***½ |
