[9.0] "This was ECW's best event up to this point. It showcased their diversity of wrestling styles, something even WWF and WCW weren't yet offering. It's telling when the world championship match is in the middle of the card and it doesn't seem unusual. Malenko/Guerrero stole the show with an absolute banger and Funk/Cactus didn't disappoint. The Raven/Dreamer match was the start of a classic angle. I can't praise this event enough, ECW raised the bar with it."

[3.0] "I was expecting a decent event right here based on the card and how it looked but MAN this show was BAD. Like around the same level as New Japan's Battle 7 January 4th Show. We get only 3 notable matches and 1 match is only good. Everything else is either disappointing, underwhelming or flat out dogshit. Let's hope the future ECW events are better cause this show was just NOT good at ALL. [*3/4]"

[6.0] "In terms of in-ring quality, this was carried primarily by the Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko TV Title match, which showed just how ahead-of-their-time these guys were as the match could comfortably appear with virtually no change on any modern-day indy card. The Cactus vs. Funk main event was a brutal affair, just as you'd expect from these two. The other two main matches weren't as spectacular, but the crowd sure liked the standard ECW hardcore brawl of Public Enemy vs Pitbulls, and Douglas did what he could with Sandman in a match that primarily set up Woman's turn on Douglas to join Sandman, just a week after she turned on Sandman to join Douglas. Dreamer vs Raven was a decent enough brawl as well, though not the best match they would have in their storied rivalry, but it helped solidify Dreamer as the crowd favorite and provided a big moment with Dreamer's often-replayed piledriver on Beulah. On the other hand, the battle of the Rottens was pretty bad - not that there matches against each other were ever really good. Neither of the other two matches were shown in the video version in their entirety, but 911 got his win over Ron Simmons in the latter's last televised ECW match, while Genjin vs Stetson was just filler. Kind of a mixed bag but at the very least Guerrero vs Malenko is worth seeking out."

[5.0] "The usual ECW mixed bag, for the most part it's exactly what you'd expect but the Guerrero-Malenko match is a masterpiece, making this show noteable despite the amount of low-quality brawling - apart from that match the show is slightly worse than other ECW shows from this period, with nothing else that stands out."

[7.0] "Enjoyable show overall. Decent match to open up the show between Richards and Whipwreck. Nothing spectacular but the crowd enjoyed it. Hack Myers and Raven getting involved only served as a final build to the tag title match later on though. On tape, we only got the finish of the next match so no comment on that. Rotten brothers had a better match compared to their last one. It was more violent and was some solid entertainment. Next chapter in the Raven/Dreamer war was fantastic. A brawl at best, but plenty of moments that would help define ECW in the years to come, particularly the ending with Dreamer using Raven's pose, after what was a sick piledriver to Beulah. Guerrero vs. Malenko today may not stand up to the acrobatics of today's wrestling, but at the time this was clearly something phenomenal in the US. Fantastic wrestling that was a welcome addition to ECW, after countless brawls and hardcore matches. Guerrero escaping from the cloverleaf was great, a foreshadowing of his character many years later. I would have liked to see a decisive winner, but this was the first of numerous battles so I won't complain. The World title match wasn't entirely bad but it was watchable. Sandman without weapons is a tough cookie to watch. The story was in the finish where Woman turns on Douglas and returns to the Sandman, whereas at the previous show she did the opposite and helped Douglas retain the title. Turned out to be a set up but I felt it was rushed, and that could be cos Douglas was on his way out. Tag title match was surprisingly fun and that is probably the best way to describe it. The Public Enemy had what I think is their best showing since I've started watching, while the Pitbulls were vicious. Solid stuff. On tape, we only got the finish of the next match again. No comment once again. Main event was brutal considering the two involved. It could have been much more vicious, but these two beat the hell out of each other. Wicked finish to close out a solid show."

[7.0] "Opener) *** Decent, nothing more nothing less. 2) Few seconds, can't judge 3) ***1/2 It could not have been any better 4) ***1/4+ The perfect word to describe it is "fun" 5) ***3/4 It didn't 100% work, it would have if it was shorter 6) *1/2 Atrocious. Who thought it was a good idea letting Sandman wrestle without weapons? 7) ***1/4 Way better than I expected 8) Again not rateable 9) *** Even their Raw match were better than this one. Post match is amazing. Overall a good show with only one bad match. More 6, 5 than a 7."

Shane Douglas vs. The Sandman kurz und solide.

[7.0] "Wirklich gute Show. Match of the Night war Guerrero- Malenko.
