Finlay-Ishii war gut, jedoch muss man aufpassen, dass Finlay nicht einfach eins zu eins der neue Jay White wird, was sich mit seinem Look und Gedo als Manager bereits andeutet. Das Tag Title Match im Main Event war für mich das beste Match des Abends. Es ist ungewöhnlich, Okada gegen Chaos antreten zu sehen, aber für dieses eine Mal war das wohl als besondere Attraktion gedacht, ähnlich wie sonst manchmal bei der Anniversary Show der Heavyweight Champion gegen den Junior Champion antritt. Letztlich war es wohl richtig, Bishamon die Tag Titles behalten zu lassen, aber ein bis zwei Near Falls, bei denen man kurz an einen Sieg der Herausforderer glaubte, war dabei, womit dieses Match sein Ziel erreicht hat. |

Lio Rush + YOH vs. Hiromu Takahashi + Bushi war ein wirklich gutes und schnelle Wrestling Match. Man bekam auch gute Spots zusehen und auch Bushi hat hier deutlich gut Performed. Finde sehr schade das er bei New Japan, nicht mal höher gepusht wird (***3/4). David Finlay vs. Tomohiro Ishii. Wow Wow Wow. Bei mir weiß man, wenn ein Match die 3 "Wow's" von mir bekommt dann ist es wirklich stark gewesen. Ishii und Finlay hauen hier ein Unfassbar starkes Match auf die Beine und das ist mein ganz klares Match Of The Night. Finlay präsentiert sich sehr gut und hat mit Ishii genau den richtigen Gegner um zu beweisen, ob er es drauf hat, in der höheren Ebene zu Performen. Und das hat er definitiv (****3/4). Der Main Event ist dann das nächste sehenswerte Match und ein sehr gutes IWGP Tag Team Championship Match. Ich finde es jedoch etwas schwierig, hier Okada & Tanahashi verlieren zu lassen. Es passt keine Frage und ich hätte auch die Titel hier nicht wechseln lassen sollen, aber meiner Meinung nach wurden Okada und Tanahashi, etwas geschwächt. Match war jedoch spitze (****1/2). Der Rest war dann einfach auf Solidem Niveau. Trotzdem dann nix großes und nix was man gesehen haben muss. Die 51st Anniversary Show von New Japan Pro Wrestling bekommt von mir 6 Punkte. |

Finlay vs. Ishii was an enjoyable battle that should go a ways towards solidifying Finlay's ascendancy in the post-White Bullet Club and further elevate his status, while the main event was an easy pick for match of the night (and one of the best tag matches in 2023 thus far) as Bishamon picks up a big win over a supergroup-type team in Tanahashi & Okada, with Okada's heelish side once again showing itself. The rest was mostly your standard NJPW undercard fare, though nothing outright bad and with a few performances standing out. |

Die Undercard geht gut weg, wobei mit Opener und die beiden United Empire Matches ganz gut gefallen haben, Chaos vs. LIJ war ebenfalls ganz nett. Zudem hat man noch die beiden New Japan Cup Matches eingebaut. Schön, dass man Umino bei dieser Show den Sieg gibt und er sich dem House of Torture widersetzen kann, Match war aber maximal solide. David Finlay macht gegen Ishii eine gute Figur und Ishii ist der perfekte Gegner für dieses Szenario. Ich möchte den BC zwar auf keinen Fall mehr sehen aber ändern kann ich es ja nicht. Finlay muss sich noch ein wenig in der Rolle finden aber das Match war schon ganz gut und endet zum Glück auch clean. Der Main Event ist toll, weil New Japan aus seinen bekannten Msutern ausbricht, 20 Minuten im Main Event und das Tag Team besiegt eben die beiden nominell stärkeren Einzelwrestler, ohne dass es wie ein glücklicher Sieg wirkt. LIJ V LiYOH was a fun preview tag and the the tournament matches started. Shota V Yujiro wasn't great but, it was short and nobody had any high hopes for it anyway. Finlay V Ishii was a really good match that showed us what to expect from Ishii while still showcasing Ishii as the most consistent wrestler of the decade. Then the main event which was a must-see title defense from an in-ring and storytelling aspect. |

The United Empire vs Satoshi Kojima, Toru Yano & Tama Tonga: A solid match where all 6 men managed to get a spot in at some point within the match and a solid preview for Toru Yano vs Mark Davis (**1/2). Dick Togo, EVIL & SHO vs El Desperado, Minoru Suzuki & Ren Narita: A match that started off underwhelming due to House Of Tortures underhanded tactics but that was to be expected, but got better towards the end (*3/4). The United Empire vs LIJ: United Empire looked dominant, surprised Henare got the pin, Henares alterations with Shingo Takagi were as physical as it could get (**3/4). Lio Rush & YOH vs Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI: This match proves that its not all about quantity but quality, as this match was extremely great, surprised it was a mid card match (***3/4). Shota Umino vs Yujiro Takahashi: Not a match worthy of being a match in the New Japan Cup as Yujiro Takahashi is not a worthy wrestler, Pieter would have been a more worthy opponent for Shota Umino, Takahashi couldn't even win despite having help from SHO (*). David Finlay vs Tomohiro Ishii: A hard hitting match where both gave as good as they got, Finlay proved why he should be in the main event matches , and proved why he is rightly named the new leader of BULLET CLUB (****1/2). Bishamon vs Kazuchika Okada & Hiroshi Tanahashi: Great showing between the 2 teams, can't believe it only went 20 minutes, Bishamon proved why they are the best tag team in the world (****3/4) |
