403.09.2023CMFunk0076.0This was a fine episode of AEW Dynamite. Not the best, but not the worst, either. I still don't see the magic of Darby Allin that Tony Khan wants me to, but I don't hate him. They're starting to set up Double or Nothing and the live crowds are returning then, so that makes me happy.

1519.08.2021hassan018.0First of all , it is just awesome to see Nagata back on TNT and the opener ruled . A excellent 8 minutes of fiery wrestling action . The post match even better with both showing respect to each other . Good backstage segment with the Inner Circle . Santana being sent to jail is believable since he stabbed MJF with a fork and yes MJF did not go to jail for throwing Jericho off the cage because he got the $$$$$'s. Bucks/SCU was awesome , great farewell for Daniels but the farewell itself was not executed properly . They just went to commercial break and just showed a few seconds of it for timing reasons like wth . Cage/Sydal next week should at least be a solid match , not too high on it nut both are good performers so I will be optimistic . PAC/OC foreshadowed the typical WWE booking . A no contest and then turned into a triple threat for the upcoming PPV . The match itself was clunky and sluggish . I also have to say that the Bucks and Omega have the most inconsistent and asinine looking characters in all of wrestling . Acting like smugs but looking more like laughing stocks . Let Callis do the talking and the inclusion of the Good Brothers does not help either . They are annoying and not in a good way . Also , Omega and Bucks are issuing challenges for their respective titles like bad asses and then acting like smug smarmy chicken shit heels when its show time . Why do not you issue the challenge at all like Escobar in NXT who used to avoid title defenses all the time and he held the title for 10 months and defended it like 6 times , another example is Gargano as north American champ or just let the management make the matches and then they act pissed and complain how they were treated unfair . That is how their version of the smug heel is supposed to act . Pinnacle/Inner Circle was very good and good from a side comedy point of view as well with Wardlow flirting with the girls and Spears trying to have his attention . Wardlow would have none of it . MJF and Tully cut good promos . Water cannon stuff was hilarious and now we also have a stadium stampede for DoN . Rosa/Allure was a good squash match Miro/Darby was a awesome main event and it made Darby look strong . In the ring , the dark stain was Pac/OC . I found it weird though that in the main event when Miro was assaulting Darby pre match , why did not Sting interfere and when he was attacked by Page and Sky , he got up in 1 minute or less like how does that happen . Also , where the hell was Archer who would usually make the save . The episode is a 8 . They had the usual blurs here and there like usual but this was still a good show nonetheless that could have been 9 or 10 if AEW management does learn from their mistakes .

2420.05.20215nicoShuffle5.0When did AEW become WCW? holy moly all these run-ins and other interference really ruined this week's show for me. Moxley Vs Nagata was fine, had some great moves and strong style moments. Finish looked a little awkward though. This probably should have been higher up the card though (***1/2) Bucks Vs SCU was ok, but went far too long with too many hope spots and false finishes. It got really annoying, it was obvious SCU were going to lose, a Ric Flair "I'm sorry, I love you" spot got wasted too. The Nick & Daniels ringpost spot was nicely executed though (**3/4) Orange Cassidy Vs Pac was decent with some comedy by Orange as always. Finish was dumb. The Tony, Don & Kenny aftermath spot was even dumber (**) The ladies match was fine but a squash (*1/2) Main was a great David vs Goliath encounter with some hefty bumps and a scary looking dive by Darby, went too long also. All the run-ins ruined that somewhat though (***3/4) please stop this chaotic booking, because this was awful!

Gute TV-Unterhaltung in diesen knapp sechs Minuten. Geht doch! Well.

3416.05.2021Vivien Desloges8.0Great episode of Dynamite ? excepting the awkward patriotic promo of Cody "I'm not racist, my wife is black" Rhodes. All matches were good if I'm excluding the unexpected ending of PAC vs. Orange Cassidy. The segments were also decent, hyping me for next week's episode. You feel that they have put the gas pedal on two weeks before Double or Nothing 2021. Blasting episode.

3915.05.2021Okaro1437.0AEw produces stellar shows but their storytelling isn't really the best. Most matches are rushed and not properly planned. This episode of AEW felt rushed. The three Title match would have been better at Double or nothing. Giving it away at a normal Dynamite (not even a special episode) seems a little stupid. The matches were good but it could have been even better with the proper build.

4414.05.2021ParkwayDriver6.0Mixed bag of a show for me. On one hand, there are three matches that I enjoyed. On the other, there was a lot of booking tropes and downtime that brought the show down for me. The three matches all were different and all delivered in some regard even though I think the opener deserved more time. Tag and TV title matches were good. Things like the Cody promo, the Pinnacle promo lasting longer than it needed to only to set up yet another cinematic match on a PPV, the complete failure of a focus on SCU after they were forced to split up (even if it was due to CD? s injury, ) the fact that they were not once brought up again at all other than the 10 second ? during the commercial? bit was truly awful. Thunder Rosa just getting a squash was disappointing when she is usually one of the must see talent of the women? s division. Whatever the cause for OC and PAC getting screwed up was unfortunate but even prior, the match was not much at all and also felt rushed (much like SCU challenging here felt rushed. ) I am split on the main event result as well. Should have been an easy thumbs up show and instead I came away feeling like there were more issues than there were positives.

5114.05.2021MaveDeltzer6.0I thought this was going to be a really good one after the first two matches but the stretch from right after SCU vs The Bucks up until the main event was pretty bad. Moxley vs Nagata wasn't as good as I was hoping but it was satisfactory enough for an opener. SCU vs The Bucks was pretty good. Cody's promo was the worst kind of phony revolutionary, pandering, modern marketing-speak crap. It's a meme at this point that this guy is intentionally obnoxious because of some slow burn heel turn which is apparently coming (and when the inevitable heel turn does happen - because it always happens - people will say "See? I told you so" about his unrelated and awful face run). Cody made for great TV in his MJF feud and was pretty good in the Jericho feud. Lord only knows what the hell he has been doing since then. Cassidy vs Pac wasn't interesting before the audible but situations like that, even though I'm never happy to see them, are still pretty fascinating. The Pinnacle segment was another cosplay moment like Darby on a zipline, and Tully seemed a bit lost. Kind of weak. Rosa crushed a jobber while the woman she beat in a big blow-off match gets a promo spot and prepares for her title shot. Main event was decent enough but there was a lot of bad to drag down the good this week. Still, two watchable matches and one quite good match isn't so bad.

5314.05.2021Mizzle Assault Ant8.0Overall a good episode of Dynamite. I thought all the matches were good or served their purpose well, some of them were extremely good such as the main event. The promos were hit or miss, I loved the MJF/Tully promo but the champagne bath didn't quite do it for me. Cody's promo was well delivered but the content was poor, ever since he dropped the TNT title he has been off the rails.

6313.05.2021kakkakikkare7.0In-ring wise, this was excelent Dynamite (barring the botch in PAC/OC match and OC getting injured and them having to call an audible). The non-wrestling segments ranged from fine to bad. They should've given more time for the aftermath of SCU/YB match and Miro's win was pretty much glossed over while we had post-match angles playing out. But three strong matches worth a watch.

6713.05.2021CoolKyle7.0Great show, though I had some major issues with it. Cody's promo was the single worst thing put out by AEW in the company's history. People are confused about what to do during the anthem? Are you out of your fucking mind to say this on TNT, the basketball network? Cody wants to talk to the CEO of racism. The absolute lack of effort put into any women other than Britt Baker is honestly really burning my goodwill for AEW. You have to have opportunity to shine and AEW has made it perfectly clear that Britt gets a virtual monopoly on opportunity within the women's division. There are two more Dynamites before DoN, and I'd wager that at best Shida gets a 30-second soundbite on one of them. Britt will get full promos on both episodes. Also the tag title match should have been the main event. While ordinarily I hate anything related to the Young Bucks, the added stipulation of SCU never teaming again should have been treated like a bigger deal. And given they lost, it should've been done in the main event given how great the match was

8013.05.2021Matt Macks8.0Good show and a bounce back for me after last week ended up being disappointing overall. The tag title match and the main event were both really good and I enjoyed the opener. The eliminator match ended up being disappointing, both because they stalled for time very early and then never got to shift into the next gear because of the injury to OC. The audible they called was very well done, though, as it fits into Omega's self-absorbed insane character arc. The crowning of the Pinnacle was fine, because MJF is still fantastic on the microphone and I found it funny that Wardlow chatted up the girls instead of listening. Tully then kinda went all over the place with his promo, but it got the point across and thus was fine. The bubble bath paying hommage to Austin and Angle was fun, as MJF and other Pinnacle members went all out slipping and sliding and making the segment work. I also enjoyed Christian's interaction with Matt Sydal and the Adam Page promo. I also enjoyed Cody's promo from an acting perspective, as he is so good at making the audience care about him, which is a great gift as a wrestler. I do not like the nationalistic undertones of the promo, though, so I hope after DoN they keep those things out of the storyline.
8113.05.2021JTI6.0Cody Rhodes genuinely thinks anyone in the world except himself wants to see him ape the "American Dream" moniker in a Heroic White Babyface vs. Evil Dark-Skinned Foreigner feud in 2021. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he watched that IWGP *United States* title match and decided to need to be The Most America afterward, just like when Moxley casually mentioned his wife is expecting in passing during a promo so Cody decided he must film an entire vignette announcing Brandi was expecting and then do a fucking gender reveal angle. It blows my mind that the guy who founded the company consistently puts on the worst shit every episode he's in. The rest of the show was decent. Moxley/Nagata underdelivered for me a little bit, never really felt like it got out of second gear. Honestly it's a shame that match happened before the OC botch because then those supposed extra six minutes for the time limit draw could've been given to that match instead of Miro spending that time ragdolling Darby. Plus it's a shame in general that the OC/Pac match had that botch, and given the circumstances they pulled off the audible as well as they could've. I hope OC is fine. Tag title match was good, MOTN for sure, and kudos to Daniels for bleeding like a stuck pig, but for the love of god, can we please go one fucking week without AEW referencing WWE? Britt Baker once again gets an entire promo to build herself while Shida gets no screentime, continuing the tradition of every Hikaru Shida program being entirely about the challenger while Shida just kind of exists as a mannequin for someone to chase. Speaking of AEW's atrocious women's division booking, Thunder Rosa gets a squash match to apparently set her up for a match with Serena Deeb, whom to the best of my knowledge hasn't even been mentioned on AEW TV for three months now. I guess we need something for the Buy-In. Miro vs Darby was OK, exactly what it should've been except, again, it went too long for what it was supposed to be. Pinnacle angle was good but honestly I'm kind of getting burnt out on this whole feud already, hopefully Stadium Stampede will be the final confrontation between these two teams. All in all a typical "3 steps forward but 2 steps back" episode of 2021 Dynamite. Lots of stuff moving forward but also several misfires and bad decisions.
8213.05.2021RantsAbove5.0Blood and Guts and Blue Justice convinced me to watch the first two complete Dynamites I've seen in over a year. Last week was pretty fun, this week was pretty shit. Mox vs Nagata was great, exactly what everyone wanted from that match-up. After that was a rocky ride. Cody's promo was jingoistic crap. Bucks-SCU was good action, but the gore was excessive and felt the finish made for a flat ending to such a long break-up story. OC-PAC never really reached the potential of that oddball pairing. Then we got a seemingly botched powerbomb, an injury and no finish. To cap it off Tony Schiavone got to do a Teddy Long impression, executing one of WWE's favourite booking moves: Now winner = three-way at the PPV! The Pinnacle segment was an embarrassing throwback to more WWE cliches, and led to even more boring booking. There were more women as arm candy in this episode than as wrestlers! Episode finished strong with Darby delivering a typically stellar performance and Miro holding his own, if not really proving yet that he has the untapped potential many of us hoped to see. Not a strong argument for me to switch from cherrypicking back to watching live.

8513.05.2021StrongStyle20207.0The opening two matches brought back fond memories of the exciting Dynamite's pre-pandemic. Cody's promo in between unfortunately was the worst part of the show, which has become the norm. Back to the good stuff, Nagata and Moxley's entrances were excellent, and a very solid opener. Expected a little more of a knock down drag out slugfest, the ending came quite sudden, but appropriate for Moxley's style and Death Rider finisher. For it's placement on the show, it delivered. Bucks vs SCU was my highlight of the night, these two teams have great chemistry, and while they've had better matches together, this was a fitting end to the rivalry and SCU's run. Real shame to cut away from the post match, though, too much tendency to cram as much in as possible and not let things breathe. Pac vs Orange Cassidy was shaping up to be a good match, until the legitimate KO, and an audible called. The Pinnacle/Inner Circle segment was ok, but it's never going to compare to the classic moments with Austin and Angle, so comes off as a weak knockoff. Very cool Darby intro, and the match ended the show strongly, with the Miro we wanted, and good work from Darby. Overall, the show had it's weaknesses, but was one of the best Dynamite's in some time, keeping the viewer engaged and giving some real signs of progress and getting back to the Dynamite's of old.
8613.05.2021ElGuapo7.0Good episode of Dynamite this week, finally. The title matches delivered, the rest didn't, OC vs. PAC didn't reach its potencial because of OC's injury and they gave Thunder Rosa a random squash match instead of using that time to maybe showcase their champion Shida, I don't even remember her doing anything noteworthy for months. They do showcase Britt a lot, she's obviously winning the belt. Cody's promo was strange, very strange. I don't know why he goes on about loving America and that he's going to have a mixed race baby... isn't he fighting a mixed race person? ... I don't know... I liked the Pinnacle promo but didn't enjoy their bubbly bath or whatever, felt a bit goofy 1 week after a bloody, possible career ending match. I do enjoy the videos that they do for Darby Allin, the ones in black and white, those are always great.
8713.05.2021WeHateOkada7.0Moxley-Nagata wasn't bad, but it did feel off at times - the NJPW style feels weird with a more vocal American crowd and more exaggerated atmosphere, and Nagata did struggle to hold up his end of things at times. Cody's promo was conceptually misguided in a few ways, but the guy always knows how to work a mic, and if there's some awkwardness in trying to balance patriotism and progressivism within a pro wrestling ring (and there definitely is), it was at least very interesting to watch unfold. Bucks-SCU was an incredible match by the closing stretch - great storytelling and emotion, and potentially the best physical performance Daniels has had in his entire AEW run. I'd really, really recommend this match. OC-Pac were having a good match that was unfortunately derailed by injury, leading to a rushed & frustrating improvised finish. Accidents happen, and it shouldn't be held against the athletes or the bookers involved, but it was still unenjoyable to watch. They didn't really do all that much in their backstage segment, but it's just perennially pleasant to see Hangman and The Dark Order, so that's a plus. The Pinnacle segment was cliche and predictable, but still very well-performed - MJF was at his most loathsome here, and this probably would have been a bad (or at least boring) segment without his promo skills to make it work. Everybody else in The Pinnacle did fine work in the background, although Tully seemed to ramble on a bit. Again, possibly due to timing issues with the early stoppage of Pac-OC, but that doesn't make it any better to watch. Baker's interview was perfectly decent, and Rosa's subsequent squash match was utterly uninteresting. Cargill had a brief but poor promo segment. The main event was fun - despite the predictability of the outcome, they still managed to make it a compelling contest with both men showcasing their charisma and athleticism. Maybe slightly too long, but again, there was presumably unexpected padding on a few segments tonight. Sting continues to be a detriment to Darby, although their mid-match fistbump was admittedly quite touching, and the first time their alliance has felt worthwhile post-Revolution. The right result to cap off a bumper episode of Dynamite. tl;dr - The tag title match is must-see, everything else is fine.
8813.05.2021WRESTLINGFOREVER2610.0I thought this dynamite was awesome! the first match is what you would expect out of a hard hitting Japanese style match. the second match over delivered for me. the Shawn Michaels reference by Matt was gold! also Christopher bleeds ALOT, so that definitely elevated the emotion side of things. also I hope no one criticizes Daniels for slipping on the top, because the poor guy was just gushing blood all over his face. bucks were great as heels, and it only elevate them as heels by "retiring" a beloved tag team. orange and pac was okay, but it looks like orange got Injured, but I'm happy with the outcome. thunder Rosa also showed her strength in a quick match. and the main event was great. I'm glad Miro won. he worked super hard to get where he is so congrats to Miro. great episode.

9413.05.2021Colt Iken9.0This would be a ten that Cody promo was... wow. The more I think about it the more baffled I am on it. I'm sure Cody's intentions were fine and his delivery was great but some of the verbiage was bizarre and tone deaf, and that's before you get into how out of date the US babyface vs. foreign heel trope is. A total misfire. Besides that the rest of the show was awesome. Moxley vs. Yuji Nagata ruled, an awesome opener. The Young Bucks vs. SCU was phenomenal, save for them not giving SCU a bit of a moment afterwards. If that's the last match for Daniels and Kaz as a team then it's a hell of a way to go, and the Bucks continue to be great in this heel role. PAC vs. Orange Cassidy was going great till Orange got knocked for a loop. Obviously it could've gone better, but you can't fault AEW for trying to keep Cassidy safe so I have no issue with them pivoting as best they could. I had no issues with the Inner Circle-Pinnacle angle; MJF and Tully were great, I laughed at the Inner Circle's revenge and MJF finding a way to regain some control after being humiliated was well done. Stadium Stampede should be great. Britt Baker's segment was killer, Thunder Rosa's squash did its job and it's great Serena Deeb will be back. I do think we could use more Shida though. Finally the main event was just unbelievable. Best match of Miro's career, another tour de force from Darby. Legit one of my favorite matches of the year. Throw in a nice Hangman promo, a nice Christian/Matt Sydal segment and this was an awesome show... other than the Cody promo. Big miss there.
9513.05.2021SwitchBlade10.0One of the more consistent Dynamites if memory serves me right. 3 excellent title matches and a couple of good promos make this a perfect 10 episode, despite the audible call during OC/Pac 2.
9613.05.2021AKR29.0One of the best Dynamite show of the year. Good opener between Moxley and Nagata: i really like the new Moxley theme song and the postmatch was also good. The match between the Bucks and SCU had a very strong storytelling: the ending was good and i have to say that i really love the Bucks' heel work. PAC vs Cassidy was the worst match of the show, too slow. The Coronation of Pinnacle was the best promo of the night and I liked the Austin/Angle citation. The Main Event has been the best Miro's AEW match so far. Good way to end Darby's reign.
9713.05.2021Crash Bandicoot 2982.0Basically, this show encapsulated all of my annoyances not just with Western wrestling, but also was an episode of Dynamite which accumulated all my annoyances with Dynamite itself. Nothing is given time to breath. Every match on this show was seemingly built horribly around guys absent from TV for months. Horrible promo from Cody. A terrible audible call formed a 3 way dance at the PPV. I need google translate for that hot mess. No way that was English. Shida? Who's that? Who cares, a random Rosa squash is more important. There was a lame Pinnacle segment with all the guys from Blood and Guts just not hurt. Not to mention a garden hose spraying them from a distance. No sense in writing more. I'm annoyed.

9913.05.2021math18237.0The show started really well, Nagata vs Moxley was awesome (****1/4) and Young Bucks vs SCU was the great match of the Bucks I have been waiting for since Revolution last year, with an incredible Christopher Daniels (****1/2), but they had to cut the farewellof SCU because of a backstage segment, thank you AEW, Cody's promo between these matches was horrible and sent me back to the 80s (not in a good way). Then, it was really average. Orange vs PAC wasn't bad, nor good, and they had to cut it short because of the injury of Cassidy, Rosa's match was a useless squash (but now she has one more win in the perfectly logical rankings where wins like this absolutely don't count as much as a win against the champion) and the ME was disappointing even if Miro winning the title is great. The segments with The Elite / Mox and Kingston were the same as last week, and the week before, and the week before, since Winter is coming. The Pinnacle / IC angle was fun but nothing more, Cargill's and Baker's promos were empty, and I don't think I forgot anything.
