| 19 | 21.12.2020 | Telecine | 3.0 | Mir hat diese Show nicht sonderlich gefallen, auch wenn sie nicht abgrundtief schlecht war. Das FTW Title Match war ein durchschnittliches Match zweier Powerhouses. Will Hobbs hat es meines Erachtens nicht geschafft, einen Eindruck zu hinterlassen. Das Tag Team Title Match war dann sicherlich in Ordnung, aber Hybrid2 sind dermaßen unglaubwürdige Herausforderer, dass es schwer fällt, das Match als etwas anderes zu betrachten als ein Übungsmatch für FTR oder ein weiteres Puzzleteil in der Storyline mit den Young Bucks. Das TNT Title Match war gut, aber es hat mir nicht gefallen, so komisch das klingen mag. Ich respektiere, dass Cody und Brodie Lee alles gegeben haben, aber Matches mit Blade Jobs gehören für mich - genauso wie im Hintergrund tanzende Frauen in Bikinis bei einer anderen AEW Show - in eine andere Zeit und zwar in eine von vor zehn oder 15 Jahren. Ganz sicher gehören sie nicht in die Zeit einer Pandemie. Genauso wie die ungeschützten Kopf-an-Kopf-Headbutts in Matches von Ishii oder Shibata zu seiner Zeit, mir auch bei einem guten Match die Freude daran nehmen konnten, sind es für mich bei AEW diese gottverdammten Blade Jobs, die für mich nicht zur Dramatik eines Matches beitragen, sondern mich eher aus dem Geschehen rausreißen, so dass ich alles, was danach folgt, mit einem schlechten Gefühl sehe. Am Schluss haben wir dann auch noch ein sehr schwaches Main Event, bei dem Luther, den ich bislang kaum im Ring gesehen habe, eine ganz schlechte Figur macht. Es ist natürlich nett, dass Jericho mit seinem Real Life Trauzeugen sein 30-jähriges Jubiläum bestreiten durfte, aber das Match war einfach schlecht. Alles in allem war diese Ausgabe von Dynamite kein Totalausfall und auch kein Langweiler, aber weder im Ring noch abseits des Rings auf einem hohen Niveau. |

Am Ende gibt es das Match, weil Luther Jerichos Buddy ist. Ich bin kein Fan von sowas und auch wenn es in diesem Setting vielleicht passend war, war das Match nicht gut. Fraglich ob Luther überhaupt noch im Ring stehen sollte, das sah ziemlich unkoordiniert aus. Was allerdings sehr stark war, ist die Promo von MFJ und Jericho, ich freue mich schon, wenn es hier knallt. Das wird gut. Neben dieser Story hat die Show noch ein ganz klares Highlight mit dem Dog Collar Match. Niemand verkörpert oldschool brawling so authentisch, wie Cody und ich fand das Match ziemlich stark. Der Opener ist ein netter Showcase für Will Hobbs, der einiges zeigen konnte und FTR vs. HB2 war auch ganz nett, auch wenn ich nicht verstehe, warum die beiden ein Titelmatch bekommen haben. Achja und ein Damenmatch gab es auch, war in Ordnung. |

Aber Jericho und MJF kann man immer zusammen stecken, da kommt nichts schlechtes bei raus. Codys Promo war ganz gut und auf der Bühne erscheint Cassidy, dürfte ein feines Match werden. Dazu noch viele Glückwünsche von vielen bekannten Stars der Musikbranche und ein paar Wrestlingefährten von Jericho. Darunter auch gewisser Tanahashi aus Japan was doch ein wenig überraschte. Zudem gab es in der Show noch anständiges Wrestling wie die Konfrontation zwischen Cage und Hobbs. Schönes Big Man Match hier mit vielen Poweraktionen, hat mir gefallen. Auch das Tag Team Titel Match hat mir gefallen, weil es eine ordentliche Story im Match hatte und man hier eigentlich das erste Mal gesehen hat wie systematisch FTR ihre Gegner (in diesem Fall Evans) zermürben und zerstören. Hat mir so gefallen. Match des Abends ist natürlich das TNT Titel Match. Richtig starkes Dog Collar Match zwischen den beiden mit der nötigen Härte und dem nötigen Overbooking. Tolles Match und den Titelwechsel finde ich auch nicht schlimm. Das Match der Damen geht in Ordnung Deeb ist gut im Ring, Swole eher so lala, Dafür war es ok. Der Main Event ist natürlich ein Geschenk an Jericho, oder besser gesagt von Jericho an Luther. Das Match ist natürlich nicht wirklich gut aber erträglich solange Luther halt nicht im Ring steht. Dafür war das Segment mit MJF danach noch unterhaltsam. |

FTR gegen Hybrid 2 wirkte zwar wie das Standardprogramm der beiden Teams - was bei Wrestlern dieser Qualität aber immer noch anständig ist. Cody gegen Brodie Lee ist dann in meinen Augen eines der besten TV Matches, dass dieses Jahr bisher zu bieten hatte und das beste Dog Collar Match seit Greg Valentine gegen Roddy Piper. Brodie Lee und Cody sind in ihren jeweiligen Rollen hier richtig stark und zeigen ein richtig intensives, hartes Match zu welchem das Blut als Stilmittel auch perfekt passt. Zudem setzen sie durch gute und teils innovative Verwendung der Kette im Sinne der Story die Stipulation richtig stark um. Einfach nur ein sehr gutes Match, nach dessen Ende und nach der Promo von Cody überraschend Orange Cassidy rauskommt. Dafür muss man allerdings sagen, dass die letzten beiden Matches in meinen Augen nur okay waren. Das Damenmatch war in meinen Augen Rumgewrestle - wenn auch durchaus solide - und das ME lebte vor Allem vom Anlass und auch ein bisschen von den Begegnungen von Luther und Jericho. Mit letzt genanntem und MJF endete auch der Abend. Hier sah es erst so aus, als würde MJF gegen Jericho turnen und umgekehrt - was dann aber doch nicht passierte. Ich verstehe die Intention dahinter und finde die Story zwischen den beiden auch durchaus interessant aber trotzdem hat mich das Ganze doch etwas verwirrt weil MJF hat das Geschenk doch zerstört warum war das dann plötzlich nicht so schlimm? Ansonsten stand natürlich im Mittelpunkt der Show das 30 jährige Jubiläum von Jericho, für welches zahlreiche Glückwünsche reinkamen. Darüberhinaus gab es noch das Segment mit den Best Friends und FTR und hier finde ich es nicht schlecht, wie sie das mit den Comedybackyardern aufnehmen. Insgesamt eine Show mit einem großen Highlight, danach aber auch mit Dingen die nicht so gut waren. Dennoch alles in allem eine mehr als anständige Show, welche 7 Punkte verdient. |

Cage gegen Hobbs war ein guter Opener, der Hobbs stark aussehen lässt, auch mit dem anschließenden Segment (+). Die immer wieder eingespielten Video Schnipsel der Gratulanten haben der Show einen schönen roten Faden gegeben und ihr einen besonderen anstrich verliehen (+). Anschließend haben FTR ihr bislang schlechtestes AEW Match mit den Hybride2. Allgemein bin ich kein Freund wenn die Titel Matches so rausgehauen werden. Zumal Angelico & Evans bisher nicht in AEW gerissen haben und für mich den Status von Edeljobbern haben. So war in dem Match auch keinerlei Spannung drinnen, da reichen auch keine AEW Dark Match Siege (/). Das anschließende Segment mit den Best Friends geht klar. Irgendwie wirken FTR nach ihrem Titelgewinn ziemlich blass und nicht mehr so badass mäßig wie bei ihrem Debüt. Das TNT Championship Match war ganz klar das Highlight der Show und hätte in den Main Event gehört (+). Der Sieg von Cody hätte ich hier nicht unbedingt gebraucht. Ich hoffe Lee wird in Zukunft weiterhin gut dargestellt. Dass Cassidy jetzt sofort wieder ein Championship Match bekommt finde ich fragwürdig und nicht gut gelöst. Das Backstage Interview mit Kenny Omega war richtig stark (+). Schön auch die vielen Fingerzeige auf NJPW, hier bahnt sich wohl etwas an! Die Frauendivision dümpelt weiterhin so vor sich hin, nachdem es Rund um All Out eigentlich bergauf ging. Deeb gegen Swole zeigen hier ein solides Match, was aber schnell wieder vergessen ist (/). Das Hype Video auf Moxley gegen Archer war in Ordnung. Wirklich heiß bin ich aber nicht auf das Match... Der Main Event war gruselig und das lag nicht an Luthers Gimmick. Luther gehört einfach nicht in den Main Event von Dynamite, sorry. Entweder man hätte das starke TNT Champion Match als Main Event präsentiert, oder man hätte Jericho hier einen großen Gegner gegeben. Aber das war schon ziemlich peinlich (-). Das anschließende Segment mit MJF war nett, auch wenn ich den Clown hier nicht gebraut hätte (/). 6, 5 / 10 |

Matchtechnisch geht es mit Cage gegen Will Hobbs los, das habe ich mir besser erhofft, war so aber ein solides Powerhouse Match, das den FTW Title, wenn auch viel zu spät, mal richtig etabliert hat. Ich will aber endlich mal wieder eine Dynamite Folge sehen, in der Darby Allin nicht nach einem Match rauskommt. FTR gegen Hybrd2 war solide, wenn auch random bekommen Angelico und Jack Evans hier endlich mal die Chance zu zeigen, was sie können. Leider gibt es einen größeren Botch von Evans, ich hoffe aber trotzdem, dass man ihnen weiterhin Chancen gibt sich besesr zu etablieren. Danach baut man vor allem die kommenden Matches gegen Best Friends und die Bucks auf, das kann man so machen. Cody vs Brodie Lee war gut, das MOTN. Man hat die Stipulation weitestgehend gut umgesetzt und auch durch die zahlreichen Referenzen an Greg Valentine versucht over zu bringen. Am Ende gewinnt Cody, wie ich es mir dachte, den Titel zurück. Das ist in Ordnung, aber der Brodie Lee Run hat nun leider doch nicht die Chance bekommen richtig gut zu werden und was die Dark Order nun zu tun bekommt ist auch fraglich. OC als Challenger nächste Woche brauche ich, erst recht nach dem Match gegen Brodie zuletzt, nicht. Serena Deeb gegen Big Swole danach ist okay. Serena ist wirklich eine fantastische Technikerin und kann das Match größtenteils tragen, man sollte sie eigentlich so schnell wie möglich als Challengerin für den Titel aufbauen. Der Sieg für Swole wäre okay, würde sie nächste Woche ihr Titelmatch bekommen, aber leider verpasst man wieder den Frauen etwas an relevanz zu geben, hätte sich dieses Titelmatch doch zehnmal besser angeboten als Cody vs OC. Der Main Event war nicht gut. Ich kann zwar verstehen warum man das gebookt hat, aber so war es doch ein schwaches Jubiläums Match, es ist aber auch fraglich welches im Hinblick auf Jerichos Karriere passendere Match man derzeit hätte booken können. Ein gutes Finale für das die Show hindurch gehypte Jubiläum war es jedenfalls nicht. Das Segment danach schon eher, Jericho und MJF interagieren nach wie vor sehr gut miteinander und man sollte die Fehde vor allem durch solche Segmente, wo beide glänzen können, aufbauen. |

Tanahashi war eine gelungene Überraschung, sowie Ultimo Dragon. Dog Collar Match war sehr blutig und auch spannend gebookt. Greg Valentine wurde extra eingeladen, was zum Match natürlich passend ist aufgrund des Matches gegen Piper von 1983. Cody hat also wieder den TNT Belt zurück. Sehe ich noch zwiespältig und ich hätte lieber den Belt noch eine Weile bei Brodie gesehen, aber mal abwarten wohin das in den nächsten Wochen führt. Gute Promo nach dem Match. Cage vs. Hobbs war ein guter Hoss Fight und FTR Matches gehen immer. Diese Woche kam es allerdings nicht an das sehr gute Match gegen SCU der Vorwoche ran. Nächste Woche dann gegen Best Friends, die #1 im Ranking sind. Die Videos und Promos überzeugten zu Archer, Mox. MJF, Omega. Hangman ist wie erwartet im Turnier dabei, was selbstverständlich nach Omega vs, Page fürs Finale bei Full Gear schreit. Swole vs. Deeb war ein grundsolides Women's Match, auch dank Deeb. Main Event war ok. Der Judas Effect am Clown sah sehr hart durchgezogen aus. Witzig die Credits mit Chrs Jericho. |

FTR/TH2 *** Started a bit botchy, then it picked up with FTR focusing on Evans leg. Fun match, this "Brush with Greatness" has potential. Cody/Brodie **** Stellar match. Loved it from start to finish, Dynamite has PPV level matches every week, and this was one of them. Cody winning is a big question mark, because the way i see it, you can do two things. Trilogy at Full Gear, or Brodie goes for the World Championship at Full Gear. Either way, i like it. The story with Cody pushing himself is the dumbest critique of AEW ever, he got himself out of the world title picture long ago. The Bucks never won anything, Omega stayed in a tag team position. Swole/Deeb *** Good solid match, that showcased Swole as a serious contender. Deeb is the perfect opponent to showcase others, love her. Inner Circle/Chaos Project ** Luther is not in any level to compete this higher in the card, but i appreciate the fact that it came full circle for Jericho. My favorite ever, and the segment is the end was good too. ROLL THE CREDITS! |

Cage-Hobbs was fun, especially because of the relative rarity of seeing two hosses collide like that in AEW. The tag title match just never really clicked; both the in-ring physicality and the crowd reaction felt off, like nothing was connecting. Both teams still performed to a decent standard, and got to show off their personal skillsets, they just never really gelled it together well. Cody-Lee was excellent, a convincingly brutal brawl with blood and hatred in equal measure. Both men are very damn good at what they do and this match was another feather in each of their caps. Swole-Deeb was technically sound if a little lifeless - Deeb is maybe the smoothest in-ring performer the women's division has, and Swole is always an enjoyable, charismatic presence, but this match accomplished little and had nothing really going for it. Moxley's pre-filmed promo was very well done, some of his most restrained yet effective character work ever. The main event was weak, and to the surprise of nobody, Luther struggled to rise to the occasion, but there's something kind of endearing about that. Watching him go for top-rope manoeuvres and try to trade strikes with Jericho certainly isn't convincing, but it's clear the guy is trying and given the nature of the occasion, a little sentimental forgiveness is permissible. A mixed bag of a show but it did at least feel like an important one. |

So ideal war das als Jubiläum natürlich nicht, dafür fehlte einfach Videomaterial. Das Jubiläumsmatch war dann sogar eines der schwächsten Dynamite-Matches überhaupt. On Air keine gute Erklärung, warum das nun gerade das Jubiläumsmatch ist. Da hätte ich Lance Storm in irgendeiner Art wohl deutlich besser gefunden. Der hätte sich jedenfalls nicht so behäbig wie Luther bewegt. Im Vergleich zu seinen Dark-Auftritten war das hier nochmal schwächer und einfach unwürdig. Sorry. Der Opener bietet einen passenden Schlagabtausch mit ein wenig Hoss-Action, aber ohne Tiefe und teilweise auch logischer Substanz. Dass Starks und Cage im Anschluss vor Allin flüchten, sieht unpassend aus und Starks sollte eigentlich auf Revanche pochen nach der vergangenen Woche. Der Aufbau für das World Title Match schreit weitehrin Filler, ist aber okay. Das würde ich dann nicht über die Leistung von Jack Evans und Angelico sagen. Evans sellt das Bein nur in dem er hier und da geschwächt über den Boden robbt, dabei war die gezielte Bearbeitung das Thema der ersten Phase des Matches. Der Botch samt Wiederholung sieht leider auch schwach aus und die Herausforderer liefern letztendlich nichts, was dieses Match in den soliden Bereich bringen kann. Dass die Bucks sich weiter gezielt um Mitarbeiter bzw. Angestellte kümmern, finde ich absurd und so langsam am Thema vorbei. Der Aufbau für das Match nächste Woche ist bisschen von der Stange wäre da nicht das alberne Würstchen-Ding. Cody ist nun auch im Ring zurück und liefert mit Lee ordentliche Gimmick-Action. Da wird etwas früh gesuppt und anfangs die Kette ignoriert, aber das steigert sich, hat aber nicht das beste Pacing bzw. die beste Spannungskurve. Seine Promo im Anschluss unterstreicht, dass die dunklen Haare nicht für einen Heel-Turn stehen und dann möchte OC erneut um den TNT-Titel antreten. Hätte er das nicht letzt gegen Lee gemacht, hätte ich das gut gefunden, so ist das in Summe eher uninteressant für mich, da ich auch Cody als ersten zweifachen AEW-Champ so nicht gebraucht hätte. Die Turnier-Ankündigung ist etwas besser aufgearbeitet, aber die Teilnehmer deuten nun doch sehr an, dass es im Kern auf Omega und Page hinausläuft. Wenn sie wirklich den Fehler aus dem TNT Turnier wiederholen, weiß ich auch nicht weiter. Kenny immerhin mit einer passenden Wortmeldung und besser als das überschaubare und teils wilde Damen-Match. Das Main Event ist, wie gesagt, einfach unwürdig und das Aftermath hat Charme, ist aber auch kein qualitativer Banger. |

Jack Evans is a lot older than I thought, and he can't wrestle. Brodie needs a new look severe, and nothing is threatening about him. Cody for some reason is consistently presented on camera blading and please no more close-ups either as his gums are rotting. Adequate match for a Brodie but inadequate for Cody. The most devastating move was during a PiP, and the finish was exchanged confusing. Big Swole isn't very good and gets way more time than her veteran opponent. Luther possesses the unsteadiest legs I've ever seen still hasn't improved. Commentary informs us he's great but has never aired any footage. Jake Hager was off and this finish was lackluster. Brutal, devastating and still good for tv because it was not a typical Rhodes bloodbath, what a great effort from these two! Didn't need anything huge for Hangman, Omega or the Bucks but their stories are still clearly relevant. Hobbs/Cage was a lot of fun and TH2/FTR was great. I would actually love to see TH2 become a bigger part of the show. Cody/Brodie was a legitimate MOTYC and I thought the whole story surrounding it was awesome. And the main event worked for what it was and the aftermath was great. Swole/Serena was pretty decent as well, though I'd like to see more of a storyline forming somewhere in that division. Great stuff though! |
| 77 | 08.10.2020 | Colt Iken | 9.0 | One of the best live Dynamites in the past few months with an unbelievable first hour and fifteen minutes. Will Hobbs vs. Brian Cage exceeded expectations. This was a trial by fire match for Hobbs and while he still has a few kinks he more than kept up with Cage, who was just tremendous. This was Lucha Underground era Cage in this match. Speaking of LU, how about TH2? ! There were a few iffy moments from Jack Evans towards the end (he unfortunately slipped on his Phoenix Splash attempt) but otherwise I thought this was their best AEW showing, with both guys proving they can be effective babyfaces. FTR continues to look much better ever since starting these challenge matches. Cody vs. Brodie was a legit MOTYC and I dare say one of the best matches of both men's career. Absolutely brutal brawl with some great storytelling and a great post match promo from Cody and challenge from Orange Cassidy. Unfortunately it made it tough for Swole and Serena to follow but they worked hard (Serena in particular was great) and then the main event was good till Luther got gassed and it went a bit too long. It's understandable given Luther and Jericho are tight, but the match probably would've worked better if Serpentico had gotten more to do towards the end. Even still this was a great show, and that's without mentioning another strong Jon Moxley promo and all the cameos for Jericho's 30th Anniversary. Most importantly it set the stage for what should be an even better show next week with Mox-Archer, Best Friends-FTR and Cody-Orange Cassidy. |

I think every match was really good to great, with the exception being the main event, which wasn't expected to be good and, well, it wasn't anything special. But Cage vs Hobbs was a really fun opener and bother looked great Cage finally got more of a showcase and Hobbs looked like a future star ***3/4. FTR vs TH2 was another really good match from FTR and gave TH2 a spotlight they haven't seen in a while ***3/4. Then Cody vs Brodie loved up to the hype. Absolutely brutal and fantastically worked match that brought Cody's star back up big but kept Brodie looking like a beast ****1/2. Swole vs Seen was a good match to give Swole a win, Deeb has done great making her opponents look good. And then the main event was there. Short match to celebrate Jericho, but would've preferred more. The ending segment was good |

The tag title match was very fluid and also PPV quality. The women's match was good. The main event served its purpose and was campy fun. The FTW title match was a terrific hoss match. As for the rest, that was all great. The messages from celebrities congratulating Jericho were really good. The set ups for future matches, especially for next week, were all on point too. There was tons of humor too, including the Young Bucks backstage and the closing segment, which was as tense as it was funny. The end credits were hilarious. This was a tour de force of a wrestling show, and one that I had tons of fun watching. I'm giving it a 9/10 |
