508.12.2019boymeetsworld8.0The last Stardom Korakuen Hall show before the start of 'Bushiroad Era' was an interesting one. Saya Kamitani had her 5th singles match in two months since her debut. When rookies in Stardom get thrown in singles match, it's a sign that of a fact that they're a big deal. This match, against Tam Nakano, had 'teacher-student' kind of a vibe, probably because Nakano portrays herself as an idol wrestler, and Kamitani got to Stardom via 'Stardom Idols' thing that Tam Nakano did in late '18 - early '19. Keep an eye on Saya Kamitani, she's something special. Stardom always has one 'whatever' match on the card, and the tag team gauntlet was exactly that. Two opening Tag League matches were polar opposite: Natsu/Martina vs. Lucas/Tyler match tried to be entertaining, while Watanabe/AZM vs. Iwatani/Kashima was a killer match, and ended up being one of the best matches in the Tag League. Mayu Iwatani pinned Momo Watanabe, and got her revenge for the loss on the final day of 5 Star Grand Prix. Arisa Hoshiki vs. Kagetsu was the highlight on the final day of 5 Star Grand Prix, but ended up in a draw. That made Hoshiki put her title on the line - thats how bad she wanted another match against Kagetsu. I liked the tournament match more than title match, but both of them are very good. I wouldn't recommend one over the other, both are very good. The Main Event felt like Bea Priestley's coming out party, even though the focus was on Hana Kimura, who won the 5 Star Grand Prix and used it to challenge for the Red Belt. Priestley's efforts in overall improvement (5 Star Grand Prix really showed it), creating her own distinct style, and getting her signature moves over paid off, resulting in the best title defense up to date. If the goal was to make Bea Priestley not fucking stink anymore and make her matches watchable for some reason - it was achieved. Also, Giulia, from Ice Ribbon, made her controversial debut.

923.10.2019arrancar6.0One of the better Stardom shows we've had this year, though as usual, there was really only one match worth going out of your way to check out (and yep, it was an Arisa match). Tam vs Saya was a fine rookie match with Tam giving a nice experienced beatdown. **1/2. The Gauntlet match was fast-paced, had a nice mix of styles, and had a few complex exchanges. The constant stop-start nature with the changing teams held this back, but it was fine. **1/2. Martina & Natsu vs Bobbi & Zoe wasn't very good. Neither of these 4 looked that good. Their attacks were mostly fine, but there was quite a bit of awkwardness and contrived-looking exchanges. **1/4. AZM & Momo vs Mayu & Saki was the first relatively good match on the show. AZM and Momo showed very nice intensity with their various kicks, and Mayu and Saki had a very nice energetic comeback. Momo and Mayu looked great in everything they did. ***1/4. Arisa vs Kagetsu was easily MOTN and probably my Stardom MOTY. Arisa's reign has been great, and this was yet another great match from her. Both women showed great energy. Kagetsu was very good with all her speedy aerial attacks, stiff strikes, and painful holds, plus the cool and confident way she carried herself. Arisa sold sympathetically for everything and responded with her beautiful kicks. The match would always become fantastic whenever both would pick up their pace and rush out their slick strikes. The massive number strikes traded at the end was awesome, and both wrestlers showed great passion to put over what a battle this was. Arisa's match-winning blitz of kicks and knees was outstanding. ***3/4 - ****. Bea vs Hana was pretty good, though definitely paled in comparison. Bea was clearly the far better worker with how energetic and aggressive she was. Hana still impressed with her own energy and her natural charisma and character work, plus all her impressive holds, but Bea still outclassed her, especially when hitting all her strikes. ***1/4 - ***1/2
1020.10.2019cuervonegro83 Good show here, we had a pretty good opener specially thinking Saya Kamitani just debut two montsh ago but she is working hard and doing a great job, also Tam did a good match and ended with two great kicks to Saya's head. The gauntlet wasn't important, but as pretty fun. I haveto say something about this match, Saya Iida is not progressing at all I really expect the tag league help her cause she always has some mistake or is not in the place in the right moment, every single match she is in we saw this mistakes, and she needs to work harder or I don't see her in the future of stardom. Two fun Tag league matches, the two more experimented teams won and I liked that. Also Momo taking the pin was really good, cause normally in this matches the younger or most unexperience is the one to take the pin, but Momo don't let Azumi to suffer the first lost of their team. Arisha and Kagetsu put an awesome match, one more of Arisha as champion, the thing I most like was how focus they were to do things as look as good and real as they could, like when Arisha slipped from the ropes when she was to connect the double knees on Kagetsu's back, she didn't go back to the ropes wasting time she just jump on Kagetsu's back, fast thinking. Completly a must watch match. The main event was a good match, but after the other match this one didn't look so good and I expected something more. Hana is a big star, so charismatic, and every move she does looks great, but her moveset is not big so in a long match it kinda look like we are watching the same too many times and the same for Bea with her knees and kicks. So it was good, the moves looked good, but other not so good and I felt it was slow in some moments, but a good match after all. In the end Mayu is the new contender for Bea's red belt and Jamie Hayter for Arisha's White belt, and also Giulia arrives to Stardom after leaving Ice ribbon in a bad way.
