Venis/Jarrett is a solid opening match that picks up some speed by the end with Double J playing the heel role with ease as always. Don't know why Venis wasn't wrestling someone from Kai En Tai though since they were feuding (6/10) D'Lo/Xpac is another decent undercard match with the high speed style of X pac making Brown's power moves look killer. Title should've been on the line (6/10) Funk/Bradshaw vs Scorpio/Faarooq is a nothing match with some sloppy sequences all just building to Bradshaw turning heel. Would've been better if he teamed with Funk for a bit longer before it (4/10) Henry/Vader is pretty rough with a botched slam early on and just power moves without much interest. Vader was somehow still over despite the awful booking but this was awful (2/10) DOA/LOD is just what you would expect from these teams at this time. A few decen moments from Animal a whole lot of nothing from their opponents and the finish making the Road Warriors look dumb. Also Paul Ellering was there for some reason (3/10) The Dungeon match is an interesting change of pace with Owen and Shamrock being intese but its very short to be much of anything (5/10) Rock/Triple H is MOTN. the 30 minutes do feel pretty long at times but they do their best to try and keep excitement with the interference and signature spots (7/10) The bikini contest that gets hyped all over the show happens next and its just Attitude Era fanservice nonsense that shouldn't be wasting time. The Main Event is a decent brawl with Foley taking a few killer bumps and Austin bringing the spedd during moments. Crowd is into it as always and its mostly enjoyable. It does make it feel like the Tag Title don't really matter when they're just props for other singles feuds |

The opener was fine - Venis' gimmick is rotten, but he was a babyface against Jarrett, so the contest had a nice structure and a pleasant fast pace. D-Lo looked great with his facial expressions and overall charisma against X-Pac who made him look even bigger, while the Tag Team Match was okay, although nothing to write home about. Henry vs Vader wasn't as awful as some people say, but still it had some sloppy moments. DoA vs LOD on the other hand was better than I expected, but still I was sick of these two teams, especially Harris Brothers. Owen vs Shamrock was weird and I don't know how to rate it - I would much rather prefer a normal match between these two. The Rock vs Triple H was the best thing on the PPV and they pulled all the tricks to make it as exciting as possible. The interferences were perfectly timed, the work was good and they had some very nice false finishes without overdoing them. Then the stripping contest happened so that was a skip for me, but luckily the main event ended everything on a positive note. All-star main event without anything fancy - just four guys with everybody being over having a story-driven Tag Team Match. Really good stuff with tension between Austin and Taker being the best part of the bout. So overall it obviously had some great moments especially near the main event, but some of the stuff here was underwhelming or just russoesque. |

D-Lo and X-Pac was pretty solid, though I really dont care for the protection vest thing D-Lo's wearing, which only seems to matter at all in very specific situations. I don't really get the Hart Dungeon match either, but I suppose it gave for a bit of a different dynamic in a match. The 2 out of 3 falls match was pretty good, though with JR mentioning the time limit early and the match slowing to a crawl at points you kinda knew what would end up happening. Repeated attempts at interference, some successful, most not, but the match ends in a draw. The main event was a big deal, but moreso because of the stories than the match itself. No-one trusts anyone, least of all Austin and Taker, anda fter they get the win Taker grabs both belts and leaves. Oh, and there's that stupid bikini fanservice thing. Could've done without it. |

Val Venis und Double J (wobei der Fokus auf der Story zwischen Kaientai und Val liegt), wie auch D-Lo und X-Pac zeigen noch passable Matches. Die folgenden 3 Matches sind entweder schwach geworked und/ oder in sich unschlüssig, besonders das Tag Match um Bradshaw/ Terry Funk sowie Scorpio und Farooq ist mir in dieser Hinsicht negativ aufgefallen. Das Dungeon Match war kurz gehalten und noch ganz unterhaltsam, während The Rock und Triple H ein Match mit Längen zeigen, geprägt von etlichen Eingrffen, das zudem hauptsächlich den Aufbau zu ihrem Summerslam Match antreibt. Es sagt schon viel aus, dass dies trotzdem noch das beste Match des Abends war. der wohl denkwürdigste Moment des Abends ist der Bikini Contest zwischen Jacqueline und Sable, der von der WWE selbst immer wieder angeführt wird um Sables Bedeutung in der Attitude Era zu belegen. Abschließend gibt es noch ein Textbook-B-PPV-Main Event, bei dem Kane und Mankind (in den Vormonaten wiederholt von den Herausfordern in Einzelmatches besiegt) ihre Tag Team Titel gegen Austin und Taker, im Vorfeld zu deren Summerslam ME, aufs Spiel setzen. Die Leistung ist ordentlich und das Booking immerhin konsequent. Tatsächlich erfüllt der PPV seine Hauptaufgabe und führt die Stories weiter bis zum wichtigen Sommer-PPV, die Leistungen sind in den besseren Fällen durchschnittlich, zum Teil schwach und letzten Endes verpasst man so gut wie nichts, wenn man diese Show auslässt. |

Der Main Event ging in Ordnung und war halt in Richtung Summerslam wichtig für die Main Event Story. Insgesamt aber ein sehr durchschnittlicher PPV. |

Man Event war durchaus ordentlich, aber auch kein Feuerwerk und nichts spektakuläres ***. Insgesamt war das eine unterdurchschnittliche Show welche von den letzten beiden Matches vor der Total Katastrophe gerettet wird. |

Jarrett vs Venis was a solid opener. Overall, though, this was kind of a middle-of-the-road, filler event, and the main topic of commentary throughout the show being Sable's outfit (or lack thereof) for the bikini contest shows the company's priorities for it. |

Die Matches sind nicht grottenschlecht, aber bewegen sich bestenfalls auf mittelmäßigen Wochenshow-Niveau. Erst mit dem Semi-Main Event beginnt die Show eigentlich erst richtig. Dieser beginnt zwar auch verhalten, da Rock 20 Minuten lang Triple H beherrscht wie er will und so einfach keine Spannung aufkommen will. Aber das Match steigert sich und wird ausnahmsweise mal durch die diversen Eingriffe der Mitglieder der Nation bzw. DX aufgewertet. Für mich das MotN. Der Main Event hatte einen guten Aufbau und bot ein solides Match, dass nicht unbedingt auf der technischen Seite punkten konnte, aber dafür mit dem Storytelling. Insgesamt ein überaus durchschnittlicher PPV bei dem nur die letzten beiden Matches in Erinnerung bleiben werden. Und auch die waren nicht wirklich bahnbrechend. |

Owen gegen Shamrock war so wie es war und für das was es sein soll echt cool gemacht, 6/10. Zu Rock vs. Triple H mehr im Guide, 7/10. Seltsamer Main Event ohne so richtigen Hot Tag, was ich etwas befremdlich fand, aber Match geht absolut in Ordnung, 6/10. Insgesamt trifft es ausreichend ganz gut, 4 Punkte. |

Triple H vs. The Rock mit einem soliden Match und im Main Event ein durchaus sehenswertes Match, das allerdings eher TV-Show als PPV-Niveau hatte. |

Keine Ahnung, ob dass überhaupt jemand geglaubt hat. Die Undercard war mal wirklich schlecht und endet in einem trashigen Dungeon Match zwischen Shamrock und Owen Hart. Was haben die damals wieder geraucht? Sehr schön fand ich das 2-out-of-3 Falls Match und natürlich den Main Event. Diese 2 Matches retten den PPV gerade noch. |

Was das Owen Hart vs Shamrock Match in der Form sollte, weiß ich nicht, aber brach durch seine Gestaltung immerhin etwas aus dem Einheitsbrei aus. Rock gegen HHH ist dann das Highligh des Abends und mit sieht auch hier, dass die beiden ziemlich gut miteinander harmonieren. Der Main Event ist dann auch ok, wobei dieses "Rivalen treten als Tag Team an und gewinnen die Titel"-Konzept irgendwie nach dem ersten Mal langweilig geworden ist. Zumal man das im Vorjahr mit Austin und Michaels bzw. Andeutungsweise mit Foley und Austin auch schon hatte. Insgesamt daher 5 Punkte. |

Match hatte aber auch seine Längen. 6/10 Bradshaw & Funk vs. Farooq & Scorpio:durch Bradshaw wurde das Match zeitweise interessant aber auch wieder nichts besonderes... 5/10. Mark Henry vs. Vader: Ich mag keine Big Men Matches, Viel zu kurz und echt langweilig 3/10, schlimmer wurde es noch bei LOD vs. 8ball & skull: So sehr die Fans auch immer hinter LOD stehen, mit den Bikern kann man keine guten Matches auf die Beine stellen. Schlecht gesellte Moves, lahmes Tempo und einfach Langeweile. Das Match wird mit einem total impactlosen DDT beendet... 3/10 Owen Hart vs. Ken Shamrock:Tja war mal was anderes aber herrlich intensiv. Sehr gutes Tempo und klasse Aktionen. 7/10 Triple H vs. The Rock: das war das beste Match am Abend und ein Vorgeschmack darauf, was in der Zukunft noch von diesen beiden kommen sollte. 9/10 Stone Cold & Undertaker vs. Kane & Mankind: Der Main Event war nicht so stark wie das vorherige Match aber trotzdem sehenswert. 8/10 Tja das waren 2 1/2 sehr gute Matches, 3 solide und 2 schlechte. Insgesamt komme ich auf 46 von 80 Punkten. Also komplett 5/10. Ein eher durchschnittlicher PPV |

Eine grottige Undercard mit teilweise mieserablen Kurzzeit-Matches gipfelt in einem fernübertragenen Dungeon-Match mit dem Unterhaltungsfaktor "mangelhaft". Erst die letzten zwei Matches ziehen die Karre aus dem Dreck - Rock und Helmsley brawlen eine halbe Stunde lang (zwar mit bookingtechnischen Schwächen) was das Zeug hält und bieten einen starken Vorgeschmack auf spätere Klassiker, danach reiten der Taker und Austin den WWF Tag-Titel Gaul stilsicher gebookt und routiniert dargeboten in den Sonnenuntergang zum SummerSlam-Klimax nach New York. |
