Allein das ist aus heutiger Sicht ein großer Pluspunkt und mir hat die Show insgesamt ganz gut gefallen. Die Battle Royal im Opener war solide und LOD traten hier erstmals im neuen Gear und mit neuem Theme aus. TAKA vs. Aguila war das einzige Match, welches man bei Raw nicht aufgebaut hatte und Aguila bekommt nichtmal einen Entrance aber das Magtch war ganz nett für 6 Minuten. Triple H vs. Owen Hart ebenfalls ganz nett, wobei ich die Sotry komisch fand, dass Owen den Titel schon bei Raw vor 2 Wochen verloren hat, um dann hier nicht seine Revanche zu bekommen. Sogar das Mixed Tag Match war okay und es diente schon klar dazu, Sable als Wrestlerin zu positionieren. The Rock vs. Kenm Shamrock war dann eher ein Raw Angle, Ken gewinnt zwar das Match, dreht danach aber wieder durch und verliert dann nachträglich durch DQ. Das hatten wir gefühlt schon dreimal bei Raw genau in der Form. Farooq, der Rock nach dem Match aber nicht mehr hilft, leitet den nächsten Schritt zur Auflösung der NOD ein. Das Dumpster Match ist sogar unterhaltsam. Kein ewig langes und lahmes Brawling, sondern einige gezielte Spots, die guten Impact hatten, war ganz nett gemacht. Undertaker vs, Kane fand ich dann atmosphärisch und vom CHarakter-Work ziemlich gut gemacht, Match an sich auch echt in Ordnung. Der Main Event ist das beste Match der Show und ordentlich. Die Fans sind total drin und am Ende steht Stone Cold als neuer Main Eventer. |

I didn't expect it to be that good after the horrendous opener with the unwatchable chaos of a Tag Team Battle Royal, but at least it wasn't too long and then the proper show started. Light Heavyweight Title match wasn't bad, but both Taka and Aguila wanted to fit so much stuff into 5 minutes that almost none of the big moves really registered with me. Then Triple H and Owen had a great and simple heel vs face dynamic with Hunter constantly cheating and having people wonder how will Chyna eventually interfere in this. Mixed Tag Team Match was probably the biggest surprise here for me, as Sable might have been the most over person on the whole show. They didn't have her wrestle much, but when she was in the ring the fans were losing their minds. Rock vs Shamrock was a phenomenal angle and even though the match itself wasn't as hot as their Royal Rumble encounter the aftermath got the crowd going. Ken losing his mind was such a great thing to watch and everybody just wanted Rocky to get his ass kicked - brilliant stuff, the best thing on the show. Dumpster Match was also a pleasant surprise for me as I hate Foley's and Funk's hardcore stuff, but here it wasn't all about spots and they did have some place for the character work. Outlaws worked nicely as prick heels and the whole thing felt like a fight, without anybody looking like they're getting prepared for the next spot. Taker and Kane had a great buildup and the match had me hooked until the final minutes when they just started no selling each other's moves and then the main event ended everything on a positive note. It wasn't a technical masterpiece that Michaels and Austin had at King of the Ring, but their feud was hot and the crowd was reacting to everything they were doing. Simple things got big pops and Stone Cold finally winning the big one felt huge. A really good PPV with some of the hottest stuff in the company's history. |

IC-Titel war mehr nach dem Match los, als wärenddessen. Trotzdem war das cool gemacht mit Shamrock. Dumpster Match hat die Hardcore Wrestlingfans sicher befriedigt und war sehr außergewöhnlich(***1/4). Kane/Taker hatte einen coolen Aufbau bei den Weeklies bekommen und bei WM haben sie auch überzeugt(***1/2). Im ME sehen wir endlich wie Austin den Titel gewinnt und Michaels das letzte mal im Ring in der Attitude Era(***1/2). |

The best Mania since Mania 8 by far, thank God. Thumbs up. |

The first dozen minutes of action is just a mess, and then maybe you'll get some entertainment when there's less people in the ring. The entire point of this match must've been to get LoD back in the mix. It's followed up with Taka Michinoku defending his title against Aguila, a damn fine luchador. I can't get over how cool it is when Taka jumps onto the top rope and onto his opponent, looks equally crazy each time. It's just a bummer they were only give like 6 minutes in the ring. Hunter/Hart match for the European Title was also solid, good in the ring with a nice little twist of Chyna being handcuffed to Slaughter in a failed attempt to keep her from interfering. The mixed tag team match saw, as far as I know, the first action between women in the WWF since '95? No-one cared about Goldust or Mero, this was all about Sable and Luna, and it was honestly quite the treat. While it starts out like a catfight, it ends with Sable powerbombing Luna before delivering a TKO. Because WWF felt the audience had had too much fun so far, we have to watch Shamrock in the ring again. Not only that, but he's the new Intercontinental champion. Great. At the very least we get progression with the Nation falling apart. And then Shamrock goes crazy and stuff. Whatever. The Dumpster Tag Team match is a mess as expected, but interesting with a couple cool spots, like a fall into the dumpster from the ladder, and a funny ending where the NAO ends up getting forklifted into a different dumpster. I didn't expect Funk and Foley to come away with the win, but I'm happy about it. Undertaker's entrance was absolute fire, the crowd absolutely in love with it. Undertaker and Kane finally get to meet in the ring after Undertaker's long absence. It starts out with a bit of back and forth, but Kane quickly takes complete control over the match. There are some cool spots. At one point Undertaker's sitting on Kane's shoulders pummeling his head. There's also a suicide dive from undertaker that misses the mark and destroys the Spanish announcer's table. There's also a real cool point where Undertaker's got Kane up and ready for a tombstone, but ends up flipping backwards to himself take a tombstone piledriver. A third tombstone after a flying clothesline from the top rope gives Undertaker the win as Kane kicks out just too late. Crazy match! Main event time, and nothing gives the chills like hearing the crowd's pop when that glass shatters before Austin's arrival. Such a damn well paced match, I don't know how much pain HBK was actually in with his back at this point, but if it wasn't a lot, then he sold it damn well. A lot of back and forth with only short breaks for either wrestler. In the ring, out of the ring, on the announcers' table, over the fencing. Tyson giving a pretty fast 3-count because of the ref being knocked out was probably a bit of a shocker. |

Die Show beginnt mit einer nichtssagenden Battle Royal und einem ordentlichem Match um den Light Heavyweight Title. Auf ähnlichem Niveau bewegt sich der Triple H/ Owen Hart Kampf. Das Mixed Tag Match hat mich positiv überrascht, so glaubhaft habe ich Sable noch nie im Ring gesehen, auch das Publikum quittiert das entsprechend. Rock vs Shamrock ist hauptsächlich ein Angle, der nach langem Aufbau die Fehde nur weiter verlängert. Das Dumpster "Match" war kurzweilig und bot erwartungsgemäß typisches Brawling. Undertaker und Kane haben kein gutes Match, das sich doppelt so lange anfühlt wie es eigentlich ist. Der Main Event ist dann gut, aber auch nicht mehr. Im Vordergrund steht klar der Übergang an der Spitze der Company. Insgesamt ist diese Wrestlemania im Ring eher durchschnittlich, getragen wird die Show aber von einer starken Crowd und dem guten Aufbau zu dieser Show. |

Das Tag Team Match war ein gut gewählter Opener und die Legion of Doom waren auch die richtigen Sieger. Das Light Heavyweight Titlematch zwischen Michinoku und Aguila hätte gut sein können, war aber viel zu kurz dafür. Das selbe gilt eigentlich für Triple H vs Owen Hart, das auch wenig Zeit bekommt, dafür aber okay ist. Das Mixed Tag Team Match danach war schlecht und wohl das Lowlight der Show, welches man hätte streichen können und dem Cruiserweight Match die Zeit hätte geben können. The Rock vs Ken Shamrock war nichts besonderes und einfach durchgerusht, sodass diese Mania in der ersten Hälfte kein einziges Highlight hat. Cactus Jack und Chansaw Charlie vs New Age Outlaws danach war solide. Kein schlechts Tag Team Titlematch, in dem die Outlaws ihren Titel am Ende verlieren. Der Co Main Event war eine sehr starke Ansetzung und ein solides Match zwischen Undertaker und Kane. Natürlich passt diese Ansetzung und die Storyline der beiden ist auch sehr stark. Kane wurde auch super stark dargestellt und war der, der am nähesten ran kam, den Undertaker bei Mania zu besiegen zu diesem Zeitpunkt. Im Main Event steht dann Steve Austin vs Shawn Michaels, der natürlich DX repräsentiert. Ein gutes Match, das jedoch etwas unter den Erwartungen bleibt. Steve Austin kann jedoch seinen ersten WM Main Event gewinnen und den Titel holen, wodurch er nun als Topface etabliert wurde. Mike Tyson war hier ein Paradebeispiel, wie man gute Celebrity Spots booken sollte. Er musste nicht wrestlen, hat dem Match gar nicht geschadet und vor allem hat er niemandem die Show gestohlen. |

Das Light Weight TItle Match ist zwar kurz aber für die Länge gut mit einigen, innovativen High Spots. Triple H gegen Owen Hart lebt vor Allem von der Story um Chyna und ihrem Eingreifen, was lange Zeit immer wieder von Slaughter vereitelt wurde, aber im Endeffekt dann doch matchentscheidend wurde. Das Mied Tag Match war in den Momenten mit Goldust und Mero durchaus anständig, in den Abschnitten mit den beiden Diven natürlich schwach. Das Intercontinental Title Match ist eher ein Storymatch, rundum die Corporation und the Rock, was ich aber für ein IC Title Match etwas enttäuschend finde. Das World Tag Title Match ist eine durchaus spaßige teils innovative Materialschlacht, auch wenn nicht jeder Spot 100 prozentig klappt aber das Ende ist schon wahnwitzig unterhaltsam. Undertaker gegen Kane ist ein Match, in dem Kane sehr dominant ist und Undertaker dann das Comeback schafft, was zu einer durchaus spannenden Schlussphase führt. Das ME ist das MOTN. Es ist technisch nicht das Übermatch aber vor Allem der EInsatz von Tyson und sein Turn sowie das SPiel mit der Heelübermacht, die sich hinterher zugunsten des Faces umdreht, ist hier wirklich gut gelungen. Insgesamt eine Wrestlemaniaausgabe ohne Lowlight aber auch ohne richtiges Highlight. Ein anständiges Match, eins das mehr ist als und ansonsten vieles das so im Bereich okay/naja ist. Damit eine durch und durch solide Wrestlemania aber nicht mehr und deshalb 6 Punkte. |

Never saw before in its entirety, it was one of the most influential shows in history of World Wrestling Entertainment, the one that allowed The Company to beat WCW in Monday Night War Rating. Great undercard, really really solid, taka michinoku vs Aguila great match for the Light Heavyweight championship, good bout between Owen Hart and Triple H, and good match between Rocky Maivia vs Ken Shamrock. The Dumbster match between Cactus Jack and Chainsaw charlie vs New Age Outlaws was really funny, incredible the fact that at that time Terry Funk was already 50 years old and he is still wrestling to this days! Fucking amazing. Kane vs Undertaker is one of my favorite matches ever. I know from a technical point of view is not a great match but nobody give a shit about that, there will never be another Undertaker, it could easily be great wrestler sport entertainers in the future and in the present but there will never be a superstar able to storytelling and create something MORE than just a great match than The Undertaker, to be a Legend and told us Great stories, like the one in this event against his brother Kane, who at the time wasn? t the Kane we know to this days , he was an incredible and invincible Kane , the only to be able to keep up to The Phenom , it was a in ring warfare between to titans, 4 Tombstones, a thing that at the time was unimaginable, and Kane seemed superior to the deadman. Undertaker the greatest legend of all times. The Main Event is not one of the best ever but it was one of the most important. Congrats to HBK to have come up to Mania with a back destroyed just to pass the torch to Austin and make it the icon that would later become in the years to come. They both had performed better matches at the Grandaddy but this one was one of those moments that stands the passage of time. The Austin era has begun said JR at commentary table. Iconic Quotes. |

Der Opener ist ungeschickt gewählt, da die Battle unübersichtlich ist und mit viel zu vielen unwichtigen Teams unattraktiv aufgebläht ist. Insgesamt gibt es viele mittelmäßige und teilweise uninterssante Matches, jedoch abgesehen vom Mixed TT keine absoluten Totalausfälle. Zweitbestes Match des Abends ist das harte Tag Team Match. Zehn Minuten solide Unterhaltung mit einem gut aufgelegten Foley - ohne sich zu höheren Weihen in irgendeine Richtung aufschwingen zu können. Taker vs. Kane ist zwar kein besonders hochklassiges Match, passt aber gut zur Storyline, die ich damals sehr innovativ fand. Der ME ist gleichzeitig MotN, was in der bisherigen Wrestlemania-Geschichte eher selten der Fall war. Das Match ist technisch zwar nicht immer hochklassig, aber intensiv und spannend ohne Ende und durch Tyson kommt eine Extranote rein. Das Match bedeutet einen WWE-Meilenstein, findet doch die Wachablösung von HBK (vierjährige Verletzungspause) auf Steve Austin statt, der endlich verdienter Champion ist. |

Sure, the only really great matches on the show were the dumpster match and the main event, and even calling the dumpster match "great" is a bit of a stretch, but it was just too much fun for me to really care. Mania being 3 hours around this period helps things a lot and it lets the card breathe more. European title (**1/2) and Mixed tag (***) matches are two unexpected hidden gems for Mania, mixed tag especially. I wouldn't expect a match with Sable in it to entertain me as much as it did, but that crowd, man! They help immensely. Action's decent, crowd reaction is godly. Taker/Kane's match doesn't at all compare to the feud going in but it's still enjoyable in places (**) and 3 Tombstones helps keep Kane slightly dominant as well as the post-match angle. Only really negative things about this show is the boring af battle royal and the ending to Rock/Shamrock's okay IC title match. DQs at Mania are a big no no in my book. Overall, surprisingly great show. |

It also has some really memorable matches that are famous like Undertaker vs Kane and Austin vs Michaels. The battle royal was probably the worst match. If not that one it was Shamrock vs Rock which was really boring and had a bad finish. Aguila vs Taka was a fun, quick match. Helmsley vs Hart was a good match and was exciting to watch. The mixed tag match was really good and was third best match on the show. The dumpster match was really good as well and had some good spots and was second best on the show. Undertaker vs Kane is not the best match in the world but it is also not the worst. A pretty serviceable big man match. Kane was pretty boring. Undertaker impressed me throughout the match and was very good. Michaels vs Austin was a really good match and a felt big which is good for a main event. |

Michinoku vs Aguila was good 6 minute sprint, **1/4. There wasn't much heat in the first half of Triple H vs Owen Hart. In the second half of the match it was better but still not good. Hart's selling of the leg was weak and the interference at end of the match was unnecessary, **1/4. I don't give damn about that mixed crap. Shamrock vs Rock was pretty weird, more interesting stuffs happened after the match, *3/4. Dumpster tag match had some good spots but overall it was garbage, *3/4. In Undertaker vs Kane match there was pretty good storytelling but crowd didn't buy it and some botched moves didn't help neither, **3/4. Main event was match of the night but it don't say much. Last Michaels' match before the long break. Nothing memorable happened in the match until the finish. It wasn't bad, it was pretty good, just not WM Main Event level of match, ***. Overall this Wrestlemania just feel like glorified weekly show... |
