[8.0] "This was a great PPV. Very fun watch especially the last two. I feel like it's overlooked and would've been considered the best Takeover by many if not for New Orleans. Very good TakeOver and the start of NXT's boom period."

[9.0] "The first three matches were okay to good and the final two were homeruns. The main event was outstanding, it is amongst my favourite matches of all time and is my favourite WWE/NXT match ever. Black Vs Cole was as great as Expected from two of the best the brand could offer. Amazing show that I will forever remember for having one of the best Championship Contest in history."

[10.0] "Mal wieder schön eine alte NXT Takeover Show zusehen. Grade wenn man bedenkt wie die Show's heute sind, auch wenn sie "nicht schlecht sind". Man merkt jedoch einen Riesen Großen Unterschied. Opener zwischen den Authors Of Pain und der Undisputed Era (Kyle O'Reilly / Bobby Fish) war ein Fantastischer Opener. Auch wenn die AoP nicht die größten In-Ring Spezialisten sind, konnten sie unglaublich gut mit Kyle O'Reilly und Bobby Fish arbeiten. Das die Undisputed Era hier verteidigt ist aber natürlich genau der richtige Schritt gewesen (****). Kassius Ohno vs. The Velveteen Dream war Gut. Gute Storyline und gutes Match. Das Velveteen Dream dann hier gewinnt Pusht ihn und lässt ihn definitiv gut aussehen (***1/4). Ember Moon vs. Shayna Baszler war auch Gut, aber hatte mir etwas mehr von erwartet. Ember Moon verteidigt aber zurecht ihren NXT Women's Championship (***). Dann kommen 2 Bombastische Matches! Aleister Black vs. Adam Cole im Extreme Rules Match hätte auch durchaus der Main Event eines PPV's sein können. Jedoch bin ich hier auch völlig zufrieden, dass das Match als Co-Main Event gezogen wurde. Ein Fantastisches Match der beiden, wo sich Adam Cole wirklich böse am Daumen verletzt hatte im Laufe des Matches. Hat es im Match aber dann gut abgetaped so dass er das Match inruhe noch zu ende worken konnte. Sonst Gute Spots Im Match, wie zum Beispiel der Table Spot oder der Spot mit dem Desk der Kommentartoren (****1/2). Johnny Gargano vs. Andrade unglaublich stark. Es hat einfach alles gestimmt. Die Crowd, die Spots, die Intensität, die Storyline und so weiter. Gargano wie auch Almas haben ihre Spots unglaublich gut verkauft und überall überzeugen können. Zurecht und völlig verdient ein 5 Sterne Match hier vom WON (*****). Insgesamt hat einfach bei dieser Show alles gepasst. Die Crowd war bei absolut jedem Match am Start und das ist etwas was eine Gute Wrestling Show auch mit ausmachen kann. Von Philly kennt man ja normalerweise es auch nicht anders. Geiler PPV, Geile Show, völlig verdient kriegt WWE NXT Takeover Philadelphia hier von mir die höchste Punktzahl."

[8.0] "Der Event begann mit einem guten Opener gefolgt von zwei Matches, ich einfach an meinem Geschmack vorbeigingen. Langweilig wurde es nie. Co-Mainevent und Mainevent waren absolut fantastisch und eine Machtdemonstration von NXT. Der Downer zum Ende der Show ließ nicht nur die Crowd in der Halle abgehen."

[10.0] "An incredible show. There was a lot of psychology in the Tag Team Title Match, THE AOP showed realistic selling. The Velveteen Dream is an interesting character. Extreme Rules Match also turned out great. But the main event just stole the show. It's not just a match, it's a fucking diamond. Andrade and Gargano just blew up the hall."

[9.0] "Wie bei jedem Takeover kann die Diskussion wieder gestartet werden ob es die beste Takeover Show ever war. Eines ist für mich sicher: Der Main Event war für mich das beste NXT Match der Geschichte! Opener war richtig gut! Schöne und logische Matchstory mit den Champs die von den Big Guys die Beine bearbeiten. Das führte sogar zum Finish, ich bin begeistert *** 3/4. Dream vs Ohno schlechteste Match am Abend und sogar eine kleine Enttäuschung. Black vs Dream war Awesome und gerade da hier Ohno mit dabei war erwartete ich mir sehr sehr viel. Schade *** 1/4. Shayna vs Ember war ein total untypisches WWE Match! Ich fand es super! Es fing ja schon bei Shaynas Entrance an. Match selbst war super Storydriven und Straight Forward. Sehr gutes Match *** 3/4. Extreme Rules war eine Waffenschlacht welche von der Länge her grenzwertig, aber trotzdem richtig gut war **** 1/4. Main Event war wie bereits gesagt kurz vor Neville vs Zayn das beste Match der NXT Geschichte. Ironischerweise verfolgten beide Matches die selbe Story um den Smarten Heel Champ und den absoluten Babyface Contender. Geniales Match und mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit das WWE MOTY. *****"

[10.0] "Opener war ein Hammer geiles Match! Kyle O'Reilly ist einfach in Sachen Selling G. O. A. T. ! Alle 4 Superstars haben ein super Match auf die Beine gestellt (****). Kassius Ohno vs. Velveteen Dream auch Ein Hammer geiles Match. Nur viele Botches kosteten dem Match viel Standing (***). Women's Titel Match ganz Solide. Black vs. Cole Xtreme Rules Match einfach nur Hammer! 2 der Charismatischsten Superstars aller Zeiten treffen hier aufeinander und immer wenn sie aufeinander prallten, dachte man der Urknall wiederholt sich. #BlackOrColeForNXTChampion! (*****). Und der Main Event war mit normalen Worten nicht zu beschreiben. Holy S***t.. Gargano merkt man direkt an das es ihm hier um alles geht und er den NXT Title unbedingt haben möchte. Und Almas ist einfach ein Bomben Heel, vor allem mit Vega an seiner Seite würde alles richtig gemacht. Hier treffen wirklich 2 meiner Favouriten im kompletten Wrestling Business aufeinander. Match war fantastic! (*****1/2). Fazit: NXT steigert sich von Takeover zu Takeover. Und wenn man denkt sie können es nicht mehr toppen... Dann denkt man falsch, denn NXT haut einfach immer 100% raus! (Und noch kurz am Rande. Natürlich lasse ich die Meinung anderer Leute. Aber hier nur 3 Punkte zu geben ist schon echt lachhaft. Da sollte man sich schon überlegen ob man richtiger Wrestling Fan ist denn das was hier abgeliefert hat war große Kunst und nix - Ich betone - NIX langweiliges. Wenn man das hier langweilig fand sollte man lieber zu einer anderen Sportart wechseln.. weil das kann man über diese Veranstaltung absolut nicht sagen das sie "langweilig" gewesen wäre)."

[9.0] "I personally after the Women's Championhip match thought the show was gonna be average but it turned out really great thanks to the Extreme Rules and the more than incredible Main Event match. Undisputed Era vs AOP was good for an opener, I love Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish, they are such a great team and AOP improved so much - ***1/2. Velveteen Dream vs Kassius Ohno was solid, surprised Velveteen was more over than an hardcore wrestling legend like Kassius Ohno which might also mean that maybe they should let him be Chris Hero - ***. Didn't like match very much the Women's match - **. Adam Cole vs Aleister Black had an awesome Extreme Rules match, they are both great and gave everyone an amazing time - ****1/2. Gargano vs Almas had an absolutely incredible match for the Title, it had all I ever wanted and more, for real, this is the best NXT match of all time and it's been so far the best Pro Wrestling Match of this year. - ***** or *****1/2 (much deserved)"

[7.0] "I donŽt watch NXT that often. Good matches donŽt always equal a good show. A good show has to have more than just couple of good matches. (There is exceptions of course) Even the very stripped NXT PPV formula has produced better overall shows in the past. There is not much to say about the event that has not something to do with individual matches. About the card i thought that Ohno vs Dream would have been a better opener, because of its length, energy and phase. The Undisputed ERA vs The Authors Of Pain (skipped most of the match) The Velveteen Dream vs Kassius Ohno (***Œ) Ember Moon vs Shayna Baszler (**œ) Aleister Black vs Adam Cole (****œ) Andrade Almas vs Johnny Gargano (maybe around ****œ)"

[8.0] "Takeover does not disappoint, but there is not much to say aside from its two "main events". The first tag team match is quite good, but nothing too exciting, while the two mid-card bouts are forgettable. Aleister Black vs Adam Cole is a good match, but let's be honest, "Extreme Rules match" is an exaggeration; it's a glorified no-disqualification match. The main event it's a masterpiece, and one of the best WWE matches in a long time."

[9.0] "Zwei Booking-Fehler kosten TakeOver:Philadelphia hier wohl einen Platz in den Top 3 der TakeOver-Events. The Undisputed ERA und The Authors of Pain liefern zu Beginn einen passenden Opener mit wohltuend klarer Match Story. Das ist zum Teil etwas einseitig, aber Fish und O? Reilly füllen ihre Außenseiter-Champion-Rolle mit viel Leben, sodass es dann einfach Spaß macht, ihre Defensive und Offensive zu sehen. (***œ) Dreams 2. TakeOver-Auftritt fühlte sich etwas über? s Knie gebrochen und die Last Minute-Story hat Charme, aber sorgt hier weder für ausreichend Tiefe noch kann sie die Unzulänglichkeiten des Matches vollends kompensieren. Für Ohno tut es mir leid. Die Deluxe Jobber-Rolle ist unwürdig in der Form. (***) Baszlers Push ist mangels ihrer Bekanntheit sicherlich kein reiner Publicity-Stunt, aber fühlt sich in dem Tempo einfach falsch an. Die Story ? Du bist ein Bully, du bekommst einen Title-Shot? entbehrt zudem jeglicher Logik, sodass die Story schon etwas dünn war. Das Match lebt von der Schlussphase, wo immerhin Baszlers Offensive gut verkauft wird. Mächtiger Hänger. Cole und Black bauen dann methodisch ein feines Hardcore Spotfest auf. Mancher Spot ist für WWE-Verhältnisse durchaus bemerkenswert und das Blut tut ihr Übriges. Pacing etwas gehemmt, aber die Bedeutung kommt über die Intensität der Action und auch durch das Schauspiel von Black und Cole (Mimik! ). Der Eingriff wirkt passend, das Match ist absolut rund. (****Œ) Im Main Event gibt es dann nicht weniger als das beste WWE-Match seit ewigen Zeiten. Eine bessere Story im Vorwege und hier entsteht ein echter Klassiker, aber auch so liefern die Herren ein sehr starkes Match. Aufbau, Pacing (geniale Steigerung), Intensität und Dramatik sind auf einem hohen Niveau. Die Kontersequenzen und das Wrestling sind absolut überzeugend. Der Part der Damen fühlt sich authentisch an und zerfleddert das Match nicht. (*****) Hinten heraus wird? s dann wirklich gut und auch das Aftermath funktioniert."

[9.0] "Another characteristically very strong Takeover event. The Almas vs Gargano main event was a fantastic combination of in-ring action, emotion and storytelling that solidified both men's claims to the top of the card in NXT. Black vs Cole was worth of the Extreme Rules tag you knew they had to put on at least one match over the Philly weekend and also had good storytelling, with Cole's personality forcing Black to go to an even darker place to earn victory. reDRagon vs AoP for the tag titles was a fine opening match, with the Authors seeming to be adding more dimensions to their ring-work past just being a power team. Dream vs Ohno was a nice showcase, if not as strong as Dream's match with Black at the last Takeover, but the Women's Title match didn't quite deliver. Also worth noting the excellent opening sequence with Paul Heyman's narration. Good show."

[9.0] "AOP vs Undisputed Era was a great opener, fantastic job in Akam ARM (***1/2), Velveteen Dream vs Kassius Ohno: Good Match, Some Botches but its ok. (***), Ember Moon vs Shayna Baszler: Easily the less entertain match in the event, Shayna is still green, i don't no why they put him in big matches. (**1/2). Aleister Black vs Adam Cole was a Freaking War, Pure Violence. Some Insane Spots. (****1/2), Johhny Gargano vs Andrade Cien Almas: Instant Classic, The Best match in NXT History, a Deserved 5 Star. (*****). Awesome Event, Two Rewatch Worthy Match."

[8.0] "Authors of Pain vs Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish Really good match. I loved KOR and Bobby Fish going after the leg of Akam who sold it really well. The dynamic was a bit weird with AOP being the faces but they made it work ***Ÿ The Velveteen Dream vs Kassius Ohno Entertaining match. Dream; antics were very fun to watch. A few bitches here and there. All forgivable. ***Œ NXT Women? s Title Match: Shayna Baszler vs Ember Moon That finished lowered the match but pretty entertaining. That finished lowered the match but pretty entertaining. *** Adam Cole vs Aleister Black Good match. It lacked a spark for most of it until the interference though. Correct winner. ***œ NXT Championship Match: Andrade ? Cien? Almas vs Johnny Gargano Fantastic match. The crowd was hot as fuck for the match. Almas was brilliant as always. Gargano was awesome. Fantastic storytelling by both men MOTN. ****1/4"

[9.0] "A great Takeover with a legendary main event. Only average match was the women's match. Extreme rules match was great too."

[7.0] "Grandioser Main Event. Was für ein fantastisches Match von Almas und Gargano. Das Extreme Rules Match zuvor erreicht ebenfalls ein sehr gutes Niveau. Der Rest ist der Show weiß allerdings wenig zu überzeugen, weshalb es für mich insgesamt "nur" für gute 7 Punkte reicht."

[7.0] "Meine erste WWE Show seit gefühlten Äonen und ich habe mich dann doch prächtig unterhalten gefühlt. Die ganze hohe Wertung wird es von mir nicht geben, jedoch ist das Takeover mit einer Sieben bestückt. Wie gut war bitte der Hauptkampf? Ich habe einen sehr guten Kampf geliefert bekommen mit sehr viel Emotionen, es war regelrecht eine Achterbahnfahrt was uns dort präsentiert wurde. Wer nicht mit Johnny Gargano (und ich bin ein La Sombra Fan gewesen, und mag ihn immer noch) am Ende gezittert hat, dem kann ich nicht mehr weiterhelfen. Der Kampf hatte alles und auch die Eingriffe seitens Zelina waren am Ende doch stimmig. Ich hatte erst Panik, dass der Kampf darunter leiden könnte. Die Crowd hat auch einiges zum Match beigetragen."

[9.0] "Während TakeOver: Philadelphia besonders im Mittelteil etwas unter den Erwartungen zurückblieb, konnte man zum Ende hin glücklicherweise eine 360-Grad-Drehung hinlegt und zeigt mit Almas/Gargano direkt im Januar einen heißen Kandidaten auf das MOTY. Der Opener zwischen der Undisputed Era und den Authors Of Pain war ein ganz nettes, aber keinesfalls überragendes Tag Team-Match. (*** 1/2) Dream gegen Ohno blieb leider völlig hinter den Erwartungen zurück. Halte von beiden Workern extrem viel, aber die In-Ring-Chemie hat hier leider überhaupt nicht gepasst. Maximal durchschnittlich. (***) Moon gegen Baszler lebte vom Storytelling, war technisch gesehen aber sehr mau. (** 3/4) Zu Black vs. Cole (**** 1/2) und Almas/Gargano (*****) mehr im jeweiligen Matchguide. Die letzten beiden Matches retten TakeOver: Philly daher von gehobenem Durchschnitt zu einem wieder mal richtig guten Event."

[9.0] "I? ve never seen an event that I thought was worthy of a 10, this takeover made me question whether or not it was worth a 10, and I decided it? s not. But the show was great, AOP vs Undisputed (***1/2) was a nice opener that had some school spots and just overall was good tag team wrestling, I just wasn? t a fan of the ending. Dream vs Ohno (***3/4) was one of my favorite matches of the night, mainly because Dream is my favorite wrestler, but both men sold very well in this match. The NXT women? s championship match (**1/2) was okay, it furthered the narrative of Ember being a resilient champ, and Shayna being a dangerous woman who will do anything to get to the top. Black vs Cole (****1/4) was a very good match that had some amazing spots especially with weapons, I wish Cole would? ve won with all the outside help he had, but this will be good for Black if he gets called up to the main roster soon. Lastly, the match of the year thus far, Cien vs Johnny Wrestling (*****) was amazing the pure wrestling passion and talent on display made the match and instant classic. Everything in the match was great the storytelling, the spots, the selling, etc... overall this was a great show."

[9.0] "This Takeover started with Undisputed ERA vs Authors of Pain which was a good strategy match, ***1/4. Velveteen Dream vs Ohno wasn't bad but it wasn't good neither, **1/2. Ember Moon vs Shayna Baszler was awesome storytelling match, MMA vs Pro-Wrestling, heel vs face, bully vs hero, competition vs heartiness, ****. Cole vs Black was awesome too, there were some stupid moments but it was a memory of ECW, ****1/4. Gargano/Almas was the best main event of any NXT Takeover so far. The underdog story of Gargano was beautiful, ****1/2. The management knew that they have to do top wrestling for Philly and I think that this show offered absolutely everything what great wrestling show need to have. Good opener which was with good tag team action, good pure wrestling match, some kind of crazy match, heritage to the place where is the show, and fantastic main event with great atmosphere. At end of the show Tommaso Ciampa made his return and it was good moment, I'm really looking forward for this feud. Only thing that I think it was bad was the place where was Cole/Black match. Before the main event and the crowd was cold in first minutes of the main event. But overall this was another big-four weekend stealing show."

[8.0] "Guter TakeOver-Event. Auf Herausragendes trifft Enttäuschendes. - Tag Team Title (7P): Solides bis gutes Match. Vor einem halben Jahr hätte ich keinen Cent darauf gesetzt, dass die AoP mir noch so viel Freude bereiten werden. Wirklich wahnsinnig, was die Herren für eine Entwicklung hingelegt haben. - Ohno vs. Dream (5P): Das Niveau des Openers wird leider nicht gehalten. Das Match ist solide bis langweilig. Eine Chemie entwickelt sich leider zu keinem Zeitpunkt so wirklich. - Womens Title (4P): Mein persönliches Low Light der Show. Hier geht nichts zusammen. Shayna Baszler macht ihre Sache noch ganz solide, mit Ember Moon werde ich in diesem Leben wohl nicht mehr warm. - Extreme Rules Match (8P): Aleister Black und Adam Cole machen den Show-Durchhänger umgehend wieder wett und legen ein tolles Hardcore-Match auf die Bretter. Die Eingriffe machen Sinn und ich freue mich auf das Aufeinandertreffen von SAnitY und der Undisputed ERA. - Main Event (10P): Totaler Abriss und früher Anwärter auf einen Top 10 Platz der Matches des Jahres. Vielleicht das beste mir bekannte Match um den NXT Title. - Im Durchschnitt hätte der Event also 7 Punkte verdient, allerdings gebe ich wegen des fantastischen Main Events 8 Punkte."

[10.0] "Black vs. Cole - Sooooo intense, hard hitting, amazing. Both those guys need to be on the main roster. They tell such good stories. Black is my favorite guy on NXT. Gargano vs. Almas - MATCH OF THE YEAR (top that! ), instant classic, phenomenal, emotional thrill ride, story telling showcase, goosebump-fest! I have not been engrossed in a match like that since Bryan winning the title at WM 30 in the main event. Yeah Gargano could have won, but the Ciampa story needed this so badly. IT ... WAS ... PERFECT!"

[8.0] "Great show! And that was before THAT main event! Bobby Fish & Kyle O? Reilly -vs- Akam & Rezar [***] Real heavyweight! The Velveteen Dream -vs- Kassius Ohno [** 3/4] This had some absolutely awesome moments, yet I can't help feel The Velveteen Dream being a little green to really deliver on his potential. Ohno really put him over and the fans reacted to the climax, so definitely a positive experience. Ember Moon -vs- Shayna Baszler [*** 1/4] Baszler mirroring Minoru Suzuki in an excellent way! I loved the lay-out of this one. Along with the angle they did with Baszler with the arm, this told a story of a dangerous predator. And I felt the danger. This was a fight between fighters. One MMA specialist, another an instinct driven creature, and it played out so nicely! Aleister Black -vs- Adam Cole [***] For the most part a very traditional American style hardcore match, and that's why it took so long for I started appreciating it. The turning point was that Cole back bump on top of the standing chairs! That looked nasty. The match quickly grew from there. The ending was well-timed too leaving a happy impression. Andrade Almas -vs- Johnny Gargano [**** 3/4] This is the type of match you can ramble on and on about, or just say "This was epic style delivered right! " Almas came across as a true champion while Gargano was the heart and soul ? pumping hard! Amazing match which has got to be one of the main picks for Match of the Year 2018 regardless of it only being January!"

[9.0] "Can there be a bad Takeover? Apparently not. Undisputed Era vs AoP -***3/4, Velveteen vs Ohno - **3/4, Baszler vs Moon - ***, Black vs Cole - ****1/2, Gargano vs Almas - *****. Classic stuff."

[8.0] "Solid event, the level of this PPV is the same of the previous two Takeover. The building up of this event was very elementary, according to the match Cole vs Black (two of the most charismatic performer at the moment) it would have been better. Main Event was built up in a good way, but the status of the two performers was too low for a title match. Solid booking for all the matches. Fight Actions are good, main event was great, other matches were above average."

[9.0] "Wow! Was für eine Show! Ausser Dream vs Ohno (was auch nicht schlecht war) hat mir eigentlich jedes Match gefallen. Almas vs Gargano war natürlich absolute Weltklasse (*****). Man kann nur hoffen das die beiden nicht ins Main Roster "aufsteigen" und dort im Niemandsland verschwinden wie so viele ehemalige NXT Leute. Mit Jericho vs Omega, Okada vs Naito, Tanahashi vs Suzuki und Almas vs Gargano war der Januar 2018 doch ganz schön krass."

[8.0] "8/10 - Overall a pretty good show, last two matches made it feel special. The last match may be the best NXT takeover match I've ever seen, but I think Zayn/Neville may be better just through the emotion of that story. [1. Undisputed (c) vs Authors of Pain (NXT Tag Team) - **** - Good match, great selling by Authors of Pain, finish was a bit odd. ] [2. Ohno vs Velveteen Dream - *** 1/4 - Started off really good, but towards the end the match felt like it was getting sloppy. ] [3. Moon (c) vs Baszler (NXT Women's) - *** - It was a fine match, but the idea that they tease a medical stoppage and then Moon survives about 2 minutes of various armbar maneuvers felt almost Super Cena-esque. Still, love Baszler, she plays a bully really well, and I feel myself legitimately hating her character. ] [4. Black vs Cole - ****1/4 - Good hardcore match, some good spots (taking that back bump on the chair's edge made me cringe a bit)] [5. Almas (c) vs Gargano (NXT Championship) - ****3/4 - Seriously such an incredible match. My only complaint is that this felt like a match that should have seen Gargano prevail and become NXT championship. If it had been shorter and less engaging, then I would be completely fine with the decision, but the match was so god damn good, that anything short of a Gargano victory felt out of place. But that's a minor grievance and in no way takes away from how much I loved this match. ]"

[9.0] "Der Opener lebte sowohl vom Selling von Undisputed Era als auch von der Big Men Little Men Matchstory sowie der Geschichte um Akams Bein. Das hätte er teilweise noch etwas konsequenter sellen können aber trotzdem ein gutes Match mit gutem Finish und richtigen Siegern. Velveteen Dream gegen Kassius Ohno begann mit der 30 Sekunden Story von Velveteen Dream und lebte von dessen Mimik und Gestik. Allerdings waren ein paar Unsauberkeiten drin. Das Finish war dann wieder gut. Ich weiß nicht, ob ich es gut finden soll, dass Velveteen gewonnen hat. Einerseits: Ja er sollte einen Push bekommen und da kann er den Sieg gut gebrauchen. Andererseits: Was ist mit Ohno? Er hängt jetzt komplett in der Luft. Da hat man sich schon etwas in die Sackgasse gebooked. Ember Moon gegen Shayna Baszler hat in meine Augen eigentlich nur einen wirklichen Makel: Es war etwas zu kurz. Ansonsten klare Story mit Shayna die als dominanter Heel ihr MMA Work anwendet und Ember als guter Underdog, was sich auch im Finish widerspiegelt. Black gegen Cole war dann eine gute Ausnutzung der Stipulation und guter Heel Face Dynamik. Wie gut das umgesetzt war merkte man an den You deserve it Chants für Cole nach dem Chair Spot. Das Undisputed Era eingreifen würde war klar aber wurde gut neutralisiert mit Sanity. Was mir aufgefallen war ist, dass beim Garbage Can Spot Black Cole nicht so nach unten beförderte, dass er die Mülltonne voll traf. Aber insgesamt ein gutes Extreme Rules Match. Das Main Event war ganz klar MOTN und hatte so viel zu bieten: Einen arroganten, dominanten Heel Champion der mit allen Mitteln verteidigen will und einen perfekten Underdog. Das Match war eigentlich in AlmasŽ Kontrolle aber immer wieder mit Comebacks von Gargano, teilweise auch der Arroganz von Almas geschuldet. Was dieses Match auszeichnete waren die Konter wie es teilweise von einem Move in den anderen ging war klasse. Insgesamt ein wirklich tolles Takeover, bei dem nichts schlecht und vieles sehr gut war."

[9.0] "Tag Title Match (***1/2) - Dream vs. Ohno (***) - Moon vs. Baszler (**1/2) - Black vs. Cole (****) - Almas vs. Gargano (*****) An inoffensive undercard, nothing really good but had two great matches at the top of the card with the best NXT match and probably best WWE match in the last 5-6 years in the main event. As an event as a whole, really good."

[9.0] "Great show. From top to bottom, every match is watchable and highly recommended. Opening tag was utterly stunning; superb work by both teams and even Ellering's reactions added to how things went down - great storytelling, wonderful selling, smooth in-ring work and an excellent finish that had been set up from the very beginning. - match of the night and my personal match of the year so far (*****). Dream/Ohno was fun and utilised both men's strengths. It was a little sloppy here and there but it's presentation and the spotlight it put on Dream was great for him moving forward and a very good follow up from his previous feud with Aleister Black (*** 1/2). The women's title match was all about the story; it's arguable that Shayna's not quite ready for this kind of stage when it comes to her actual in-ring work, but she's such a great character and she is really working hard to improve, already she's better than she was in the Mae Young Classic. Ember helped elevate Baszler to her level and the finish was really well done (*** 1/2). The Extreme Rules match was really good although Cole took some risks that simply weren't necessary and were kind of stupid. It's very easily the best singles match Cole's had since arriving in NXT and having not seen much of his previous work, it's the best singles match I've seen him in. Very enjoyable (*** 3/4) The main event felt a little bit long and lost it's way for a minute there in the middle but overall it built well and the last ten minutes or so were utterly phenomenal. Gargano and Almas worked ridiculously well together but this may have been my least favourite of there trio of matches, which is saying something because this is a great match. I was biting on near-falls left, right and centre towards the end (**** 1/2)."

[9.0] "Also da ist wohl jemand die Wertung ausgerutscht oder da fehlte das Interesse das Event richtig zu sehen. Es war sicher nicht perfekt, gerade Dream vs Ohno hat ein wenig enttäuscht, aber dennoch eine grandiose Show. Der Opener überzeugt mit einer schönen Ring-Story und einen gutem Match, tadelloser Opener. Ohno vs Dream war halt einfach nur solide, trotz des Könnens der Beiden und das war schade. Keine Enttäuschung, aber schade. Das Damen-Match hat mich dann von der Umsetzung und Leistung her überrascht, haben sie meiner Meinung nach gut hinbekommen. Aleister gegen Cole war dann wrestlerisch keine Offenbarung, aber mit der Match-Art war es auch irgendwie so zu erwarten. Der Main Event rettet es dann auf 9 Punkte, weil es einfach nur der Wahnsinn war, gibt da, meiner Meinung nach, nichts zu kritisieren."

[10.0] "Such a good event. TUE vs AOP ***1/4. Velveteen Dream vs Kassius Ohno ***1/2. Ember Moon vs Shayna Baszler ***. Very Brutal. Aleister Black vs Adam Cole ****1/2. Very fun to watch. Andrade Almas vs Johnny Gargano *****. Amazing. Great story and Tommaso Ciampa came out and beat up Johnny. Such and Amazing Match. Overall an amazing show"

[8.0] "This was a very good Takeover PPV Event. Good start to kick off the road to Wrestlemania as well. Really enjoyed the Tag Team Title Match between the Authors of Pain and The Undisputed ERA. Wasn't really into the Velveteen Dream/Ohno match. The Women's Title was very sloppy on Shayna Baszlers end. Ember Moon sold a lot of the moves very well. I feel like Shayna went to far after the match and I hope William Regal suspends her. She needs to understand when you do the moves your suppose to do it enough to make it seem like she's hurting the opponent, not literally hurting the opponent. I also believe she should be suspended since she deliberately injured Dakota Kai. This is an entertainment business. Not a fighting federation. Really enjoyed the Extreme Rules match between Aleister Black & Adam Cole. Great to see Sanity get involved in the match to even the odds. Main Event was good but I feel like Johnny Gargano deserves the title more the Andrade Almas. Can't wait to see Candice LaRae get her hands on Selina Vega in one on one match down the road on NXT. Having Ciampa attack Johnny Gargano makes sense. Andrade Almas still seems a little clumsy in the ring and I think taking the title off of him would be a better move than to have him retain. Especially after what happened to Drew McIntyre at the last Takeover PPV Event."

[9.0] "UE vs. AoP (*** 3/4) Velveteen Dream vs. Ohno (*** 1/4) Moon vs. Baszler (* 3/4) Black vs. Cole (**** 1/4) Almas vs. Gargano (***** MOTYC! ) Was ein Event. NXT Takeover enttäuscht nie! NXT NXT NXT!"

[9.0] "Sehr gute Ausgabe von NXT Takeover. Der Opener war gut. Klangvoller Einheizer. Authors of Pain zeigen erneut das sie keine Typen sein muss die die Indys bereist haben sondern auch das Eigengewächs stark präsentieren können über das Jahr. Die Titelverteidigung war klar. Ohno vs Velveteen Dream war in Ordnung. Ohno ist und bleibt ein Aufbaugegner. Er kann gute Matches zeigen aber viel mehr ist auch nicht drinne. Keine Ahnung ob es gewollt war aber einige Botches gab es auch. Die Women waren solide. Eindeutig war es zu früh für Baszler um ein Titelmatch zu bekommen. Ihr Wrestlingstil ist arg beschränkt und das merkte man schon im MYC Finale. Sie könnte sich aber als Top Heel etablieren. Cole vs Black war sehr gut. Sehr starkes Extreme Rules Match ohne Zweifel. SAnity lebt auch noch und beschäftigen O'Reilly und Fish während Black den Sieg holen kann und er möglicherweise der Nächste ist welcher den NXT Champ herausfordern darf. Der Main-Event war exzellent. Fantastisch. Fabelhaft. Grandios. Sensationell. Almas noch damals abgeschrieben als Flop zeigt einfach mal das Match des Jahres. Gargano ist sowieso der perfekte Gegner. Hier hat einfach alles gestimmt. Da kann man einfach nicht meckern. Ciampa ist zurück und attackiert nach dem Match seinen alten Partner mit einer Krücke. Mit EC3 und Ricochet hat man sich absolute Goldstücke geangelt achja War Machine sind auch da. Nahezu perfekt bis auf die Damen die etwas schwächelten."

[8.0] "Gute bis sehr gute Ausgabe von Takeover, allerdings auch mit Abstrichen. Das Tag Team Match, was hier manch einer gar als Match of the Night sieht, hatte für mich ein seltsames Pacing und kleinere Botches drin. Dream vs Ohno ganz genauso. Absolut kein schlechtes Match, aber das hätte man auch in einer x beliebigen NXT Ausgabe machen können und hatte ein paar Moves, die nicht so gut gesessen haben oder einen zweiten Versuch benötigten. Moon vs Baszler war auch von der Story her gut und hatte einen roten Faden. Von den Socken gehauen hat es aber ganz sicher auch niemanden. Das Extreme Rules Match war genau richtig, vielleicht zwischendrin ein paar lange Pausen, in der Zeit geschunden werden musste, weil wegen Behandlung und Blut usw... Trotzdem gutes Ding, war auch klar und richtig, dass Sanity kommen muss, nachdem Fish und O'Reilly eingegriffen haben. Das Main Event war natürlich Spitzenklasse. Manch einem mag es zu viel gewesen sein, aber ich fand es genau richtig. Gargano wurde als Top-Face und "Never give up" Typ weiter etabliert, aber auch Almas zeigt sich widerstandsfähig. Der Spot von Zelina Vega vs Candice war auch abzusehen, hatte ich schon beim ersten kleinen Ablenken mit gerechnet. Alles schien auf einen Titelwechsel hinzudeuten, aber am Ende lässt man Almas doch triumphieren. Kann ich gut mit leben. Gargano macht sich besser in der Rolle des Verfolgers, des ewigen Außenseiters und die nächste Fehde hat sich dann ja auch schon angedeutet."

[6.0] "This would have been a strong show if not for a few weak areas. Nothing was necessarily 'bad' but there were a few things which definitely lacked. The opener of Fish & O'Reilly vs Authors of Pain was MOTN, which is disappointing to see in hindsight since the rest of the show essentially went down hill. This was a very good match though. I liked the dynamic of big brawlers against smaller strikers/grapplers. Nice teamwork from both teams and nice story with Akam's leg being worked over. ***3/4. Ohno vs Velveteen started off great and then simmered down but was still quite good. I enjoyed the 30-second knock-out tease. Nice arrogant character work from Velveteen whiel Ohno desperately tried to fight back. Ohno sadly caused a few botches and awkward moments later on, but the work was mostly good. ***1/4. Moon vs Baszler was disappointing. Baszler was awkward early on. Moon's selling was on the melodramatic and comical end sadly. Baszler's work was mediocre but she carried herself very confidently and felt threatening to some extent. I enjoyed the teases of her submission holds too. The rushed cradle roll-up finish was very underwhelming. ***. Cole vs Black was pretty good. I enjoyed the 'dastardly' aspect here, which isn't something I usually enjoy with hardcore-related stipulation matches. Here, though, it played very well into the story. Two arrogant men, both channeling that in different ways. Cole is cheap and cowardly while Black is extremely confident and menacing. I enjoyed Black refusing to use weapons early on but eventually using them when finally pushed to his limit. The various weapon spots here were very cool, and both men had very good general wrestling chemistry also. The various interference at the end was annoying, but the majority of the match more than made up for it. ***1/2. Almas vs Gargano wasn't bad but went overkill to an infuriating extent. Unsurprisingly, more isn't always more. **3/4."

[9.0] "Der Opener löst es recht geschickt, dass The Undisputed Era hier verteidigt, ohne dass AoP wie Volldeppen aussehen. Ganz nettes Match, allerdings eines der schwächeren NXT Tag Title Matches. Dream darf dann gegen Ohno einen wichtigen Sieg einfahren und Punkte sammeln. Match ist in Ordnung, aber gerade Ohno wirkt hier fast schon wie Enhancement Talent. Bei den Damen merkt man klar, dass Baszler noch recht grün ist. Matchstory funktioniert und trägt das Match recht gut, auch wenn das im Ring bestenfalls okay war. Dann geht es los. Cole und Black haben eine solide In-Ring Story und kloppen sich einige heftige Spots um die Ohren. Spannend, hart und einfach klasse. Zum Thema klasse: Der Mainer ist wohl, für mich sogar noch vor Neville/Zayn, das beste NXT Title Match bis dato. Gut aufgebaute Geschichte um Gargano und auch Almas und beide liefern wohl jetzt schon einen der heißesten Anwärter für das MotY. Großes Drama, tolle Geschichte, im Ring saustark mit einigen fiesen Spots, guter Technik und ebenfalls sinnvoller Einbindung von Vega und Candice. Dass Almas retained... in Philly halt eine echte Rocky Geschichte, die Gargano wie einen Superstar aussehen lässt und gleichzeitig im Aftermath auf einen weiteren großen Showdown hinausarbeitet: Gargano gegen Ciampa. Gerade aufgrund der letzten beiden Matches eine fantastische Show."

[9.0] "Was lucky enough to see this show live. Now the first 3 matches were all good, nothing special, but those last two matches were something else. TUE vs AoP was a really good opener ***3/4. Dream vs Ohno was good, Dream was wildly over ***1/2. Shayna vs Ember told a really good story to set up a rematch ***1/2. Black vs Cole was so much fun. Incredible use of extreme rules and just all out great ****1/2. Then Almas vs Gargano just wow. Best match I've ever seen live, beating out the RR2015 triple threat. That match just flowed so well and built perfectly. Simply incredible ******"

[9.0] "NXT schafft es wieder mit TakeOver mich wunderbar zu unterhalten, 9 sehr starke Punkte. Mein Match of the Night wenn auch sehr knapp der Main Event wie wollen Cien und Johnny das denn noch überbieten, großartig auf Platz 2 wenn auch sehr knapp das Extreme Rules werden solche Matches bei den WWE PPV nicht als Extreme eingesetzt war das hier der Fall was für eine brutale Schlacht mit ja auch ordentlich Blut zu den beiden jeweils mehr in den Guides. Ja ich bin wohl einer der wenig der das WWE NXT Womens Championship Match gefiel wenn auch nur knapp gut (***). Zu Dream vs Ohno auch mehr im Guide. RR 2018 wird es diesmal echt schwer haben das zu toppen oder gleich zu stellen anders als letztes Jahr bin ich mir sicher das diesmal mir der RR 2018 nicht so stark gefallen wird."

[9.0] "Der Opener war ganz nett und hatte einige gute Aktionen, leider war die Story um das Knie schlecht umgesetzt, da fehlt halt den beiden der feinschliff **1/2 Sterne. Dream vs Ohno hatte mir sehr viel Spaß gemacht und hatte echt damit gerechnet, dass man nach dem ersten Schlag das Match beenden würde, ist zum glück nicht passiert dadurch bekam ich ein gutes Match zusehen *** Sterne. Moon vs Baszler hatte einige gute Momente leider kann Baszler nicht Wrestlen sondern setzt auf Submission Moves, was nett aussieht aber auf Dauer eher langweilig ist und man sollte aufpassen das Shayna mit Ihren Moves niemanden verletzt ** Sterne. Ich brauche Sie nicht in der WWE/NXT. Mein Match of the Night, die beiden haben echt die Halle abgefackelt und einen geilen Spot nach dem anderen gezeigt, ob ich jetzt umbedingt ein Extreme Rules Match gebraucht hätte eher nein, aber dadurch konnten ganz Legal Fish, Reilly und Sanity eingreifen. Man hatte ich meinen Spaß an dem Match und ich hätte gestern Nacht fast laut gejubelt als Sanity raus kam. Deswegen gibt es von mir ***** Sterne. Der Main Event war einfach nur Geil ****3/4 Sterne. Insgesamt hatte ich wie bei jedem Takeover meinen Spaß und vergebe hier mit 9/10 Sternen."

[9.0] "Eine fast perfekte Show! Leider enttäuscht Dream vs. Ohno dafür sorgen Black/Cole, Fish&O'Reilly vs. AOP und gerade der großartige Main Event für tolle Unterhaltung."

[3.0] "Mit Abstand das uninteressanteste Takeover das ich je gesehen habe. Kein Interesse an auch nur einem einzigen Match. Das Frauenmatch war grauenhaft, der Opener war so gerade eben Durchschnitt. Das Problem war das an den Akteuren aufgrund mangelnden Charismas auch kein Interesse war und so wird aus nem Durchschnittsmatch ein Snoozefest. Dream besiegt Ohno in nem eher enttäuschenden Match Das Extreme Rules Match war nicht ansatzweise so gut wie man gehofft hätte . Cole gefällt mir überhaupt nicht. Das Main Event bestand dann irgendwie aus 2 Leuten die irgendwie so wirkten als wären sie einfach nur Filler, bis die richtigen Main Eventer fit sind. Ganz ordentliches wrestling darum keine 2/10. Auch wenn ich durchgehend gelangweilt war versuche ich irgendwie mal fair zu bleiben"

[10.0] "Der ganze Event war wieder durchgehend stark. Angefanngen über den echt guten Opener, eine weitere überzeugende Performance vom Velveteen Dream, dem anständigem (aber nicht gutem) Damen Match, einer sehr unterhaltsamen Geräteschlacht und einem fantastischen Mainer konnte die Show durchgehend unterhalten und begeistern (10 Punkte)."

[8.0] "Tag Team Title Match als Opener war wirklich gut. 7/10 Velveteen Dream gegen Ohno hat mir auch gut gefallen, gibt aber Abzüge für die vielen Upfucks. Ohno muss bald auch mal wieder ein "großes" Match gewinnen, sonst bringt das ganze jobben irgendwann nichts mehr. 6/10 Ember Moon gegen Shayna Baszler war halt auch auf der Card dabei. Mit Ember Moon werde ich absolut nicht warm. Generell war das selling ja gut, aber dann ausgerechnet nach dem Eclipse so starke Schmerzen zu haben wirkte einfach nur lächerlich. Generell hatte Baszler den Titleshot nicht verdient, aber nach dem Aufbau und dem Verlauf muss Baszler dann den Title gewinnen. 5/10 Black gegen Cole war super. Einige krasse Spots und das Chaos am Ende mit Sanity wusste auch zu gefallen. 8/10 Der Main Event hat das ganze dann nochmal getoppt. Ein Hin und her, Emotionen pur. Auch gut, dass Candice dann irgendwann eingegriffen hat. Die ganzen Eingriffe von Vega hätten sie sonst ziemlich blöde aussehen lassen, wenn sie schon während des Matches Ringside ist. Hier gab es auch den richtigen Sieger. Gargano als Underdog muss weiterhin den Title jagen. Erinnert sehr an das Sami Zayn Booking aus seiner NXT Zeit. 10/10"

[9.0] "Undisputed Era vs. Authors of Pain - *** 1/2, Kassius Ohno vs. Velveteen Dream - ***, Ember Moon vs. Shayna Baszler - da das Match eher einem MMA-Kampf glich, kann ich hier kein wirkliches Rating finden, aber ich kann so viel sagen, dass der Fight mir gut gefallen hat, Adam Cole vs. Aleister Black - **** 1/4, Andrade Almas vs. Johnny Gargano - ***** Insgesamt: 9/10"

[8.0] "Schlecht gewählter Opener, denn dem Match fehlt über weite Strecken das nötige Tempo. Die Story ums Bein war ganz solide umgesetzt und in der Schlussphase ist das handwerklich durchaus gut, in logischer Konsequenz als gesamtes Match aber auch nur ordentlich (**Ÿ). Dream/Ohno ist auf erzählerischer Ebene ziemlich gut und liefert ein Paar echt harte Konterserien. Dem Match fehlt aber etwas die Dramaturgie, was von den 1/2 antiklimatischen Unsauberkeiten in der Schlussphase bestärkt wurde. Dennoch befriedigend (***). Die Damen Action ist irgendwie zäh. Das fühlt sich alles so wild, unstrukturiert und unrund an. Das Extreme Rules Match punktet besonders dadurch, dass es solche Stipulations in NXT selten gibt. Black & Cole scheuen sich nicht und stecken viele High Impact Spots ein. Das sind teilweise großartige Spots, die aber auch einen erzählerischen Hintergrund haben und so perfekt zur Struktur passen. Vor allem die beiden Table & Chair Spots sind brutal inszeniert. Selbst die Eingriffe passen zum chaotischen Feeling, auch wenn ein komplett One on One Match eher gepasst hat. Großartiges Match (****). Der Main Event ist dann ein dramaturgisches Meisterstück. Johnny Gargano & Andrade Almas verkörpern ihre gegenseitigen Charakterrollen so einwandfrei, dass das Match Lay-Out exzellent zur Match Story passt. Unfassbar hohes Tempo, das durchgängig gehalten wird, und sich wenn nötig sogar steigert. Fantastische Konterserien bei großartiger Aktionsdichte, aber das ist gar nicht das Wesentliche. Das Wesentliche ist, dass die beiden aus ihren Fehlern lernen, emanzipieren und somit den zweiten Ansatz des Gegners immer kontern können. Insofern komplettieren sich beide auf erzählerischer Ebene vollkommen fantastisch. Die letzten rund 10 Minuten sind an Drama, Intensität und Sinn für Dringlichkeit kaum zu überbieten, Chapeau (****Ÿ + MOTN + MOTYC)! Die letzten beiden Matches (v. a. ME) ziehen hier das Rating hoch: 8. 25/10"

[8.0] "Es ist wie es ist - Take Over enttäuscht nicht. Auch wenn die Under- und Midcard nicht ganz die Klasse anderer Veranstaltungen aufweisen, so ist das aber spätestens bei den letzten beiden Matches vergessen, denn da rockt die Hütte richtig. Zunächst zerlegen sich Black und Cole mitsamt sämtlicher Hilfsmittel in ihre Bestandteile, dann zelebrieren die beiden ehemaligen NXT-Midcarder Andrade und Gargano ihren Spot mit Hingabe. Der Weg dorthin ist zwar nicht hochklassig, aber durchaus in Ordnung - das Tag-Match gleich zu Beginn ist ziemlich seriös, hat aber halt mit dem Problem der unterschiedlichen Stilrichtungen zu kämpfen, was man doch noch recht anschaulich lösen kann. Auch Patrick Clark bekommt mit dem Sieg über Ohno ordentlich Rückenwind für zukünftige Aufgaben, was man ebenfalls ziemlich ansehbar vermittelt. Einen kleinen Dämpfer erhält die Show mit den Damen, wobei besonders Baszlers Talent nicht mit den Ambitionen Schritt halten kann - das ist noch keine Teilnehmerin für die lange Distanz und die Technik einer Matchstory muss sie auch erst noch lernen. Immerhin bringt man da den Pinfall authentisch in die Drangphase der Herausforderin hinein. Die Show gestaltet sich klimatisch äusserst überzeugend und hat am Ende mindestens einen MOTY-Kandidaten im Gepäck - so macht NXT weiterhin Spaß."

[8.0] "Weak undercard, but the last two main events more than made up for it. Opener was way better than I expected with both teams looking good, ***3/4. Ohno vs Dream was fine, but the former's talent should be being used on better opponents, ***1/2. Shayna vs Moon was practically a dollar store version of Tanahashi vs Suzuki from half a day earlier. Cole vs Black also exceeded expectations as well in being a very brutal war, ****1/2. Main event is one of the best WWE matches I have seen in years, *****."

[9.0] "Except for the terrible NXT Women's Title match, everything is great. Adam Cole vs Aleister Black is entertaning and "extreme" for the Philadelphia crowd. Almas vs Gargano is a MOTY contender, what an unbelievable match! The first two matches are good enough, a great Wrestling night on par with the NXT Takeover standards."

[10.0] "AOP/reDRagon: ***2/3. AOP are still very green, but they can be led. Finish was a bit off. Really good nonetheless. Ohno/Dream: ***1/2. A bit clunky, but still very good. Dream is gonna be something. Ember/Shayna: ****. Great story. Ember was a great underneath baby face. Shayna is a great combo of Minoru Suzuki and Brock Lesnar. This match reminded me of Okada/Suzuki from early 2017. Finish was great, and it accomplished what it should have, a need for a return match. I loved this. Cole/Black: ****1/4. This was great. Cole got the dog s**t whipped out of him. This was so well done. Brutal. Main Event: ****1/2. Just an amazing roller coaster of a match. This was special. Andrade was great. Gargano was elite. Show of the year contender IMO. Easily in the running for best TakeOver to date. Go watch this whole show in one sitting!"

[9.0] "AOP/reDRagon was a textbook David vs. Goliath tag battle - enjoyed it a ton (***3/4), Ohno's Kawada color attire was sick, but the match vs. Dream was like the worst Ohno match in at least 2, 5 years or something; simply too much Dream on top in this one (**), I loved Ember/Shayna - I thought the structure of it was pretty much perfect for the 2 characters (***3/4), Cole/Aleister was crap and I feel like I am being too generous with my rating for it (*), Almas/Gargano... WOW! There isn't much else to say except that it was pro wrestling at it's best (*****) - gonna be hard to beat for the 2018 MOTY honors. Masterful stuff. Overall Takeover knocked it out of the park once again. Wonderful show."

[9.0] "Undisputed ERA Vs Authors of Pain ***3/4. Velveteen Dream Vs Kassius Ohno ***1/4. Ember Moon Vs Shayna Baszler 1/2*. Aleister Black Vs Adam Cole ****3/4. Andrade Almas Vs Johnny Gargano *****. Very fun opener match. Should be a good send off for AoP. Dream Vs Ohno didn't meet my expectations but was still pretty good. Moon Vs Baszler was a shitfest. Black Vs Cole was really, really fun. Great spots and moments with a good outcome. Andrade Vs Gargano is probably the 2nd best NXT match ever. Everything about it was great. This would have been 10/10 show but the women's match sucked ass."
