[4.0] "Outside of a couple of matches there is nothing here to see. This show is headlined by a team of men who are immobile, against a tag team of people that don't seem to care. Too much was thrown in just for the sake of having something there. I wasn't expecting too much given the card, and I was given what I expected."
[6.0] "I was tempted to go with a higher rating, largely based on the strength of the classic match between Bret Hart and Mr Perfect, but the main event is so bad that it undoes a lot of the goodwill earned by that match. Despite the incredibly poor main event, there is still a lot to enjoy here. Perfect and Bret have one of my favourite IC title matches ever, the Mountie's antics following his match with Bossman are certainly memorable, Virgil getting one over on DiBiase is a great moment, and the wedding is obviously very significant as well. I love the commentary with Heenan and Piper, too. From a storyline perspective there is some good material here, so it's a shame that there is also some really underwhelming wrestling present on this show - enough so that it drags the entire event down. The IC title match is a classic and 'must see' for any fan who is interested in wrestling history, but the rest of the show definitely leaves something to be desired from an in-ring standpoint."
[6.0] "I liked this show, although looking back this was pretty much only a two, maybe three match card. This show is mostly known for the great Bret Hart vs Mr. Perfect Intercontinental Title match; which was certainly match of the night. Mr. Perfect is easily MVP on this night for working that match with his broken back. Another big WWF show where I didn't care for the main event. This show also sees Virgil's career peak and the infamous Loser Spends a Night in Jail Match."
[6.0] "A show that could've been a great one if not for the weaker moments. The opening six man is fast paced and an entertaining opener that did what it needed. Steamboat always delivers even with the silly Dragon repackaging (7/10) Hart vs Hennig is an absolute banger and the one match you should totally go check out (9/10) Natural Disasters/Bushwackers, is not good but its not that awful thankfully being pretty short and having a proper ending (4/10) Virgil/Dibiase was great storytelling all the way through overbooked to the right amount and doing a pretty good job in hidin that Virgil is not that good (7/10) Bossman/Mountie is a solid match between two pretty good workers with a fun silly ending (6/10) Legion of Doom/Nasty Boys is a mid level brawl but it doesn't overstay its welcome (5/10) IRS/Valentine is filler and the most forgettable of the card, but not that bad (4/10) The handicap tag is one of the worst Hulkamania bouts I've seen the 80's Hogan schtick is not always fun and with past their prime workers on the other side of the ring its just awful (0/10) Up to that point the show would probably be a 5 out of 10 very hit or miss, but the wholesome Wedding segment that closes the show earns it an extra point. It was a great character moment and a feel good ending"
[5.0] "Another mid PPV of the 1991. Again there were some highs, like the very enjoyable opener or the IC Match with Bret finally transitioning to the singles guy. The best match of the night for me was Virgil vs DiBiase as they delivered the match that they should have at WrestleMania. Apart from that some okay bouts like Boss Man vs Mountie or IRS vs Valentine with the only stinker unfortunately being the main event. Hogan is tiring at this point and you just await for Bret to step up."

[10.0] "The ultimate feelgood show, with so many payoffs in one night. 1991 WWF is off the charts for emotion and storytelling, and this was just a fantastic example of that. Look past the match quality (in some cases) and see the brilliant storytelling. Wrestling is about far more than just endless moves and flips."

[4.0] "What can you say about the show itself? It turned out to be extremely controversial, like all shows in 1991. It seems that there is something good, but at the same time it is adjacent to so much slag that it is already difficult to praise the whole show, it happened now. Yes, there was a chic fight for the intercontinental belt and a beautiful closing segment, but what about the rest? Right. Nothing."
"This was the first PPV I remember watching, so perhaps it's nostalgia but I look back on it fondly. Perfect vs Bret was the obvious standout but the most memorable part for me was Virgil finally getting his big moment over DiBiase."
[6.0] "Like a lot of Hulkamania/Golden Era PPVs, Summerslam 91 is somehow more than the sum of its parts. There's really only one good match on here, the classic Hart-Perfect showdown that cements Bret Hart's rise to greatness is beginning, and even that could be better than it was if Perfect wasn't nearly crippled with back injury. Most of the rest of the card is fairly forgettable, with a lot of the mediocre punch-kick wrestling WWF was famous, or infamous, for at the time. But while it's not a fantastic wrestling product from a purist perspective, like the majority of these 80s shows into the dying days of Hulkamania, the crowd is on fire pretty much the entire time, loving all of the cartoon characters and storylines, and it elevates everything that happens in the ring. Like, yeah, is Bushwhackers-Natural Disasters any good at all? Of course not. But the Disasters are such big nasty monsters, and the Bushwhackers such inexplicably beloved babyface goofs that it just kind of works anyway. If you can turn your brain off and your love of top rope dives and innovative suplexes, and just watch it for the seething crowd reaction and energy, it's a pretty good time. Not the best by far, but one of the last hurrahs for pre-NWO Hogan, and that's something."
[5.0] "This was definitely a 1 match show. Hitman/Perfect stole the night and everything else that wasn't outright bad is pretty much forgettable ppv filler lost in the either of history."
[5.0] "Someone really should have limited the amount of marching powder Roddy shoved down his nose before he came out to commentate on this. The Bret/Perfect match is brilliant, everything else is average at best."
[8.0] "Great show all around, had tons of fun with it overall. The crowd was magma hot, the matches were good outside of a few exceptions, and the commentary was just a blast to listen to. The highlight for me was the wedding segment, which is an all-time great conclusion to an overarching story that saw a rewarding payoff. Also need to show some love to the Bret/Perfect classic, DiBiase/Virgil, and Mountie's entire performance throughout the show."
[5.0] "Der SummerSlam wurde mit "A Match Made In Heaven, A Match Made In Hell" beworben. Der Main Event war dann buchstäblich aus der Hölle, nämlich furchtbar schlecht. Bei der Hochzeit passierte das interessanteste Off-Air mit dem "Geschenk" von jake Roberts, was aber beim PPV nicht gezeigt wurde. Bret Hart und Mr. Perfect legen dafür einen Klassiker auf die Matte, der die Show vor einem Fiasko bewahrt. Virgil vs. Ted DiBiase war vom Storytelling auch nicht übel und The Mountie hat einen roten Faden durch die Show. Mit viel Nostalgie 5/10."
[6.0] "There's enough good stuff on this show to give it a slight thumbs up, starting with the IC title classic between Bret Hart and a crippled Mr. Perfect, but also the big million dollar belt match between Ted DiBiase and Virgil, and The Mountie's funny segments throughout the whole event. The main event (the handicap match part) didn't deliver at all, and the rest of the show was just kinda there, but I feel enough good/great stuff happened to give it at least a 6."
"Ricky Steamboat, Texas Tornado & Davey Boy Smith vs. The Warlord & Power & Glory. This is Steamboat? s last appearance of any importance during his WWF comeback in 1991. Sloppy, but fun. **. Mr. Perfect vs. Bret Hart. Vince finally pulled the trigger on the Bret Hart singles push after about three years of false starts. Perfect would take a year off to heel his injured back while Bret would use his IC reign as a launching pad to the WWF Title. Excellent match. ****1/2. The Natural Disasters vs. The Bushwhackers. I don? t know if we ever got an explanation for exactly why Typhoon turned heel on the Bushwhackers. I mean, strictly speaking, you don? t need a reason to hate the Bushwhackers, but it would be nice to know why he was happy-go-lucky Tugboat one day and evil Typhoon the next. The match sucked btw. 1/2*. Ted Dibiase vs. Virgil. Virgil asserted his independence at the Royal Rumble, a scant century after the Emancipation Proclamation. This was a great example of how good booking can elevate a match with standard work to the next level. ***1/2. The Mountie vs. The Big Boss Man. See, both guys are law enforcement officials, so it? s a natural moneymaking feud. This was an average match. **. The Nasty Boys vs. The Legion of Doom. This is an historic match, but not for its quality. The LOD were born over, and the Nasties were competing with the Natural Disasters for Jimmy? s managerial priorities. With the title win, the Roadies became the first team to win the AWA, NWA and WWF Tag Team Titles, a feat which would never be repeated. *1/2. Irwin R. Schyster vs. Greg Valentine. The very definition of filler. Heenan is at least on his game enough to come up with ? the battle of the figure-four vs. the W-4. ? Boring match, and it doesn? t even accomplish the nominal task of getting Schyster over. Next! 3/4*. Hulk Hogan & The Ultimate Warrior vs. Sgt. Slaughter, Col. Mustafa & General Adnan. Among the numerous problems with the heels ? Sergeant Slaughter is their leader, despite being outranked. You? ve probably all heard the backstory to this one. The Ultimate Warrior threatened to no-show the event, demanding Vince McMahon pay him for past events. Hogan and Slaughter were willing to shoot on Warrior, but Vince told them to hang back and be pros about it. Col. Mustafa also offered to make him humble, put him in Camel Clutch and buh-reak his back. And that was before anyone told him what was going on. All of this must make for an interesting night for Sid Justice, who is the special guest referee. Pretty piss-poor match, but hey it? s the end of the Warrior in the WWF for a while, so the backstage shenanigans give you a reason to watch. *1/2. Hey, it's got a little bit of everything for everyone. Historical moments with the hints of Flair debuting and the vanquishing of the Ultimate Warrior. Bret won his first major singles title here, and the match was a must-see. Just a lot of stuff to recommend if you have the tolerance to sit through"
[5.0] "Was kann Mann zu diesem Event sagen ? A match made in heaven, a match made in hell? . Das trifft auch auf den PPV zu. Die erste Hälfte ist okay & die andere zieht es mir dann ein wenig zu sehr runter. Aber fangen wir von vorne an. Der SummerSlam1991 PPV starten mit einem Six Man Tag Team Match das völlig in Ordnung geht und für mich den PPV solide beginnen lässt. Zum nächsten Match, gibt es ein Kommentar im Guide. Das 3 Match des Abends ist natürlich schlecht, aber geht schnell vorüber hat die Richtigen Sieger und ein wenig Action nach dem Match. Ted Dibiase ist einfach großartig und die ganze Story rund um Virgil ist nicht schlecht erzählt. Kein vergleich zu ihrem Match von WrestlerMani VII. Die beiden liefern eine nette Story und Match *** . Big Bossmman ist ein Unterschätzer Big Man. Das Match war in Ordnung aber nichts was man gesehen haben muss. Das ist so der Wendepunkt der Show. Ab und mit diesem Match passiert bis auf das Tag Team Match nichts mehr wirklich Nennenswertes. Viele hilight videos, ja gar förmlich eine Pause plus das Ende mit der Hochzeit begeistern nicht wirklich. Einige interviews gehen okay aber in der Menge zu viel und die Mountie Abfertigung nervt auch nur. Zu erwähnen ist noch das Positive Tag Match. Zwar zu kurz und aus heutiger Sicht , ein fragwürdiges No DQ Match aber 8 Minuten lang Action ***. Am Main Event ist nur interessant ob Sid Justice fair bleibt oder nicht. Die Szene danach mit Hoagan ist schwer mit anzusehen. Aber bekanntlich ein Teil der Story die bald starten wird. Ein ordentliches Main Event hätte die Show gebraucht. So nur 5 Punkte"
[6.0] "Der Opener ist schnell und dynamisch und zeigt vor Allem Steamboats Sellingqualitäten. Dann kommt natürlich das MOTN. Nicht nur das Hart gegen Perfect sofort losgeht, es lässt auch danach nicht wirklich nach. Es ist ein ewiges, intensives Hin und Her, ein technisch geführtes Match, das aber auch gute Spots und vor Allem auch eine starke Schlussphase sowie Storytelling ( zum Beispiel das Perfect nach dem er via Perfectplex nicht gewinnt von der Rolle ist). Das Tag Team Match danach ist dann eher zum Runterkommen. Virgil gegen DiBiase ist natürlich wrestlerisch nicht der Hammer aber erzählt die Underdogstory gut und gibt dann einen Feel Good Moment. Die Zuschauer sind sehr drin in diesem Match - was natürlich auch an Roddy Piper liegt. Der Boss Man gegen den Mountie ist für mich das schwächste Match des Abends, da es doch ein ziemlich einfacher Brawl ist. Das Tag Title Match ist zwar auch ein Brawl aber besser weil etwas intensiver. IRS gegen Valentine ist für die Länge ganz okay. Die Cleverness des IRS siegt gegen die Technik des Hammers. Das ME ist dann sicher nichts überragendes, zieht aber gute Reaktionen von den Zuschauern und hat halt eine ganz gute Heel/Facedynamik. Das Hochzeitssegment ist natürlich etwas kitschig aber ich finde es gut gemacht, da der Macho Man eben nicht aus seiner Rolle fällt und es ist schon ein emotionaler Moment. Alles in Allem überstrahlt das IC Title Match natürlich alles, ansonsten ist vieles okay aber es gibt auch keinen richtigen Ausreißer nach unten und somit ist es keine gute aber eine anständige Veranstaltung, die nach meiner Ansicht 6 Punkte verdient."
[7.0] "Not great but enjoyable SummerSlam with some good stuff. Undercard isn't something special. Most of it's matches are just decent. Howewer opener is pretty good and Hart vs Perfect is a great match. DiBiase vs Virgil has nice story. Main event is a very boring match with terrible storyline. Fortunately it doesn't end this show. Savage and Elizabeth's wedding is a very cool segment. It is untypical but it worked very well for me. Unfortunately Jake the Snake's thing happened during the post-show."
[8.0] "Overall this event is awesome, it has only two points against it. The Bushwhackers match is very lousy, and the main event match stinks. Most of the show is quite good though, and a lot of it was great. Perfect/Bret is a MOTY candidate for sure, and I absolutely loved Ted/Virgil, and so did the crowd."
[4.0] "Outside of Bret/Perfect and DiBiase/Virgil, none of the matches were any better than decent, and the last two weren't even that. The Bushwhackers/Natural Disasters match was pretty bad and a waste of time."
[7.0] "Summerslam is another big event of 1991. Mr. Perfect vs Bret Hart is a great match, probably the best of Mr. Perfect, intense to the end and symbolic for a change of roles. DiBiase vs Virgil comes to its end with Virgil closing the chapter beating his old mentor/boss. It wasn't a decent match but the story was well received by the fans. Big Boss Man had his huge victory with The Mountie (I've never seen Big Boss Man so over). Legion of Doom have a boring match with the Nasty Boys but get the titles. The main event closes the 'war' feud with Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior getting a triumph over Sgt. Slaughter and their partners. The post-main event with the marriage is still enjoyable. The NWA World Championship in the WWF was historical."
[4.0] "A lot of bad to go with a smattering of good -- particularly the Intercontinental Championship cage match between Bret Hart and Mr. Perfect. Also, I'm not a fan of the whole wedding thing."
[7.0] "Guter Opener mit flotter Action und dem für die Stimmung wichtigen Face-Sieg. Direkt danach gibt es dann schon das klare MotN. Ein echter Klassiker der WWE-Historie und für mich eines der besten IC Titelmatches überhaupt. Bret Hart wächst an diesem Abend über sich hinaus und Mr. Perfect holt noch einmal alles aus dem geschundenen Körper raus um eine Wahnsinnsperformance hinzulegen. Als Downder dürfen dann die Bushwhackers ein wenig die Natural Disasters blamieren. Wer's braucht! Der Kampf um den Million Dollar Belt ist dann erstaunlich spannend und gut. Jedenfalls wesentlich besser als bei Wrestlemania. Nachdem DiBiase bereits unfair gewonnen hat wird das Match erneut angeläutet und Virgil kann sich den Sieg sichern. Der Mountie wird nach seiner Niederlage im folgenden recht unspektakulären Match zum Running Gag des Abends. Immer wieder werden zum Teil recht lustige Sequenzen mit ihm eingespielt. Hawk & Animal durften danach sich endlich die Tag Team Gürtel umschnallen. Der Street Fight der zu diesem erneuten Face-Sieg führte war knackig kurz und durchaus unterhaltsam. IRS feierte dann auch ein erfolgreiches PPV-Debüt nur damit dann im Main Event Sgt. Slaughter in diesem ungleichen Kampf endgültig der Lächerlichkeit preisgegeben werden konnte. Der PPV war in meinen Augen durchweg unterhaltsam, auch wenn ich selten eine solche Face-Sieg Dominanz bei einem PPV gesehen habe wie hier."
[5.0] "Anfangs hui, später pfui. Dieser Slam kommt mit dem seriösen 6er-Tag ganz geschmeidig in die Gänge und haut als zweites Match des Abends bereits einen zeitlosen Klassiker raus. Auch das Payback-Szenario des langzeitgebeutelten Virgil ist einen Blick wert und vermittelt ein wohliges Bauchgefühl. Wenn man gnädig ist, kann man sogar noch den Tag-Titelwechsel auf der Habenseite verbuchen - das ist zwar kein Kracher, wird aber vom Publikum gerne mitgenommen. Jetzt zu den eher unschönen Dingen - und da kommt mir sofort die Katastrophe zwischen den Schwergewichten und den Kiwis in den Sinn. Das Jailhouse-Match ist handwerklich ziemlich sparsam aufgezogen, hat aber mit der Inhaftierung des Mounties schlußendlich einige Lacher parat ('I am The Mountie, you can't FINGERPRINT me! '). IRS gegen den Hammer ist gnadenlos scheißegal und der Mainer so billig wie absehbar, wobei - billig war es ja für McMahon angeblich nicht, den Warrior hier zum Auftritt zu bewegen. Das 'Match made in Heaven' in allen Ehren, aber die bereits verheirateten Eheleute Poffo mit einer schmalzigen 20-Minuten Zeremonie einen PPV abschliessen zu lassen, ist nicht das, was ich mir von einer netten Wrestling-Show erwarte, sondern eher bei California Clan oder Traumhochzeit vermuten würde. Ab und an zeigt die WWF hier ein matchqualitativ sehenswertes Produkt, dann zeigt sie aber auch wieder ihr grauenvolles Entertainment- und Gimmickgesicht. Abgerundete fünf Zähler - und der Iron Sheik ist Schuld."
[5.0] "1. Opener war gut und das zweitbeste Match an diesem Abend. Nicht verwunderlich da doch einige gute Worker im Match waren. (3 1/4*)2. IC Championship Match siehe Guide. (4 1/4*)3. Das Tag Team Match war langweilig. An einen Sieg der Bushwhackers glaubte eh kein Mensch. (1*)4. Virgil gegen DiBiase war nicht gut. (1 1/2*)5. Mountie gegen Big Boss Man war ebenfalls schwach. Hatte aber dann im Anschluss einige lustige Segmente. (1 1/2*)6. Das Tag Team Title Match war eine kleine Steigerung gegenüber den letzten Matches. Hier konnte man schon den Qualitätsverlust der TTD sehen. (2*)7. IRS gegen Valentine war ein Filler. (1 1/2*)8. ME war schwach. Für den Hype war das nichts und für mich bis dahin der schwächste SS ME. (0*)Insgesamt ein schwacher SS. Nach dem zweiten Match viel die Qualität gewaltig."
[7.0] "Wie immer damals ein durchwachsener PPV von der WWF. Das Bret/Perfect Match war natürlich das Highlight was die Matchqualität angeht und der Main Event war sehr unterhaltsam dank der Sid-story und der geballten Ansammlung an Talent in und um den Ring. Der Opener war auch nett und Energiegeladen. Der Rest jedoch war unterdurchschnittlich wenn auch solide und nur Mountie vs Bossman hatte etwas Potenzial. Der Angle mit der Hochzeit ist natürlich eines der All-Time Storyline Highlights der Wrestlinggeschichte und eine der wenigen Hochzeiten die tatsächlich durchgezogen wurde und erst hinterher was passiert ist. Heutzutage hat diese Szene natürlich einen bittersüßen Beigeschmack, nicht nur da Savage und Liz mittlerweile beide verstorben sind, sondern auch weil man weiß, dass die beiden sich ein Jahr später im wirklichen Leben getrennt haben. Noch bitterer wirds wenn man die echten Emotionen in Elizabehts Gesicht sieht und im Hinterkopf hat, dass viele Kollegen der beiden heute noch der Meinung sind, dass Liz Randy trotz der Trennung bis zum Ende immer noch geliebt hat und sogar fast während ihrer WCW-Zeit wieder mit ihm zusammen gekommen wäre. A Match made in Heaven. Hoffentlich stimmt das jetzt wieder..."
[10.0] "Geile Veranstaltung. Bis auf Disasters gegen Bushwackers und IRS gegen Valentine nur Top Kämpfe. Vielleicht nicht alle vom technischen Aspekt, aber von der Spannung und Show her. 1A"
[5.0] "Ich mag das klassische Faces gegen Heels Six Man Tag am Anfang für das, was es ist, ganz gerne. Komisch, dass die Muskelversessene WWF nicht mehr aus dem Warlord gemacht hat. Danach schon das Match des Abends, logischerweise, mit Bret und Perfect. Es ist schon erstaunlich, wie die beiden herausstechen. Danach verläuft der PPV in belanglosen Fahrwassern. Keine Paarung interessiert sonderlich, zumal einige WrestleMania-Fehden ziemlich unoriginell einfach weitergeführt werden. Hochzeits-Angles sind (Bryan/AJ Lee) und waren (eben hier) immer belanglos und werten den PPV nicht weiter auf. Graues Mittelmaß."
[6.0] "Etwas schwacher SummerSlam, das Gesamtpaket ist stimmig, es fehlt aber an richtigen Highlights. Mit Hart vs. Mr. Perfect wird schon früh das Pulver verschossen, DiBiase und Virgil zeigen aber auch ein überraschend gutes Match. Main Event war leider ziemlich schlecht."
[5.0] "Leicht unterdurchschnittlich dieser PPV. Bret vs Perfect war natürlich mit Abstand das beste Match des Abends und es war wirklich sehr gut! Ansonsten waren die üblichen Matches eher mittelmäßig bis schwach. Die Hochzeit zwischen Savage und Elizabeth rundet diesen SummerSlam letztlich ab."
[6.0] "Ganz ordentlicher PPV. Bret vs Perfect war fantastisch! Auch sehr ordentlich war das Ted vs Virgil Match. Der Rest der Matches bewegte sich eher im schwachen Bereich. Die Hochzeit rundete den PPV ganz gut ab."
[4.0] "Besser als der Slam des Vorjahres, aber wer Wrestling sehen will wird fast ausnahmslos enttäuscht. Es gibt unzählige peinliche bis durchschnittliche Promos/Segmente zu sehen (nach dem Main Event noch die kitschige Savage Hochzeit). Stark ist natürlich Hart/Perfect als absolutes Highlight, das LoD Match ging auch noch in Ordnung. Ansonsten absolut belanglose Veranstaltung. Der Mainer war sehr schwach und Spannung kommt bei dieser Ansetzung natürlich auch nicht auf. Das Intercontinental Title Match ist ein Must See, den Rest kann man sich schenken. Die ständigen Segmente zur Inhaftierung des Mounties waren nach dem schwachen Match auch etwas zuviel des Guten."
[6.0] "Hart vs Perfect war das Match, welches Brets Karriere den entscheidenten Schub gab. Der Rest der Show konnte leider nicht dieses hohe Niveau halten. Die Story um den Mountie war allerdings ganz nett gemacht und meistens auch wirklich lustig. Insgesamt drücke ich ein Auge zu und gebe eine Drei. Gerade so."
[6.0] "Was soll man sagen? Der Main Event war schwach, vieles zwischendurch war Mittelmaß. Allerdings gibt es da sowohl das Match Bret Hart vs. Mr. Perfect, das damals technisch mit das Beste war, was abging, und zu Recht ein Summerslam Klassiker per excellence ist, als auch die urigen Segmente, in denen der Mountie in den Knast kommt. Beides wertet das PPV auf 6 Punkte auf (vor allem aber das Hart/Perfect Match natürlich). Die Kayfabe Hochzeit von Miss Elizabeth und Savage ist dann eher schnulziges Soap Opera Theater, aber immerhin besser als der Main Event^^"
[6.0] "Sehr guter PPV! Teilweise sehr gute Matches (IC-, Tag-Team-Titel-Match), DiBiase holt aus Virgil ein absolut PPV-würdiges Match heraus. Darüber hinaus sehr sinnvoll aufgebaute Fehden, die auch von der Konstellation der Gimmicks (der damaligen Zeit entsprechend) absolut interessant waren. Erhebliche Abzüge gibt es aber dennoch, aufgrund einer Hochzeit als Main-Event und eines unbedeutenden Tag-Team-Matches als Co-Main-Event, in dem Slaughter für seine greisen Mitstreiter die ganze Arbeit machen musste. Hätte man Hogan/Warrior glaubwürdigere Gegner gegeben (z. B. Sgt. Slaughter/Ric Flair/Undertaker), hätte es evtl. besser werden können."
[8.0] "Guter Summer Slam, die Matches waren fast alle sehenswert und spannend. Der Klassiker natuerlich: Bret Hart vs Mr. Perfect - das Match der Veranstaltung, danach viele ausgeglichene Matches und was das beste ist: Die Fans konnten richtig mitgehen, hier bekamen einige, ueber einen laengeren Zeitraum aufgebaute Fehden, einen Hoehepunkt, was man an der Stimmung in der Halle merkte. Ist heutzutage, auch bei einem PPV, sicher nicht immer so. Der ME war wrestlerisch sicher schwach, lebte aber von der Heat der Kontrahenten und einem gut eingesetzten Ringrichter Sid Justice. Die Hochzeit hat mir alle Mal besser gefallen, als einige heutige In-Ring Veranstaltungen, die den Anschein von Realitaet erwecken sollen. Wer die alte WWF mag, kann mit diesem Summer Slam eigentlich nichts falsch machen."
[6.0] "Wenn man fast ausschließlich Wert auf attraktives Wrestling legt, hätte man nach dem starken Tag Team Title Match nach Hause gehen können! Das Hauptmatch war unbedeutender Natur, die Hochzeit zwar gut und schön, aber bei einem Summerslam doch fragwürdig. Showstealer war ganz klar das Intercontinental Title Match zwischen Mr. Perfect und Bret Hart!"
[4.0] "klasse hit man und perfect beide haben eines ihrer besten matchtes gliefert, nasty boys gegen lod sollte ein versuch sein ein no dq match aufzubauen war am ende für mich aber nur ein normales tag match mit normalen heel , face regelverstößen , main event floppte und dann noc h diese unnötige hochzeit"
[4.0] "Alles wurde hier auf das Match made in Heaven und das Match made in Hell aufgebaut. Beides floppte meiner Meinung nach, bis auf den Turn von Jake Roberts zum Heel, diesen fand ich gelungen. Einzige Lichtblicke waren das Ic Titelmatch und die Szenen vom Mountie im New Yorker Knast."
