Is beyond me how they did give Snuka less than 5 minutes while making and making more mediocre matches to fill the show. Yes, the crowd was on fire, but is not enough."

[3.0] "I often hear this Wrestlemania called one of the greatest. And I'm sorry, I just don't get it. I think a crowd that was losing their minds with excitement is the only reason this event has the reputation it has. If you watch this Wrestlemania with your TV muted, it's honestly quite the bad show. First, the card is inflated beyond belief! So many matches, and most of them aren't given enough time to get out of the box, let alone tell a decent story. Even bigger angles get this treatment. For example, Bossman vs. Akeem. Two former tag partners facing each other. That's usually a pretty big deal. But they barely get 2 minutes. I think they had more promo time than ring time. Rick Rude vs. Snuka. Another match with two over talents. Not even 5 minutes. Perfect and Beefcake, which was maybe the biggest midcard matchup going into this Wrestlemania didn't even get 10 minutes. And match times aside, even the BEST matches on this card are average matches at best. Maybe slightly above average with the fan response. There's truly nothing here to wow you I'd even dare to say if Hogan vs. Warrior wasn't crafted as well as it was, this might have done down as one of the WORST Wrestlemania's of all time instead of one of the best. I'm sorry, but to me, there's just nothing here worth giving high praise to."

The main event is really the only match worth watching here. Nothing else (outside of Andre's face turn and Jake's excellent promo) feels like it belongs at WrestleMania. The show is too long with too many matches and the vast majority of them are mediocre at absolute best. The main event is a real spectacle and definitely worth at least a curiosity viewing even if you dislike this style of wrestling, but the rest isn't really worth the time."

I'm excited to get to when WrestleMania means more as a brand and there's not as many shitty and short matches. I will say that I love that this show was in Toronto; as a Canadian it's always great to see big shows here. The Hogan/Warrior match is match of the night but also manages to not live up to it's hype for me; but I've never loved the match. My least favourite match of the night is The Barbarian vs Tito Santana. None of the matches under five minutes are worth a watch besides maybe the one with Earthquake, because Earthquake rules. We're unfortunately in the Sappire era with Dusty. I'd like to pretend that this show was Andre's wrestling swan song. I haven't seen the Piper/Brown match since it's edited out of the Network for racial overtones and I'm not hunting it down."

[3.0] "So many matches that had no right being here. But first of all I would like to say that SkyDome looked phenomenal and the hard camera's angle has to be one of my favourites ever. And as a show it started out nicely with a good, quick opener with Martel and Koko and then maybe not the best Tag Team Match in terms of workrate, but a hot crowd and a feel good face turn from Andre, but after that it just fell apart. Lots of very short matches and some insulting ones with Piper vs Brown and the Mixed Tag Team Match leading the line. Everything was just the wait before the main event that knocked it out of the park in terms of the crowd reaction and had some genuiely great moments there, but the whole show was a chore to get through."

[3.0] "This feels like a really long house show until you get to the main event. A house show with a huge and hot crowd to be fair, though they (not unfairly) only really focus on Hogan and Warrior. Did this have to be such a one-match show by design? Andre turns face after a match worked around him being very immobile by this point, Perfect's streak ends, Piper does blackface, Miss Elizabeth shows up to Savage's match, The Ultimate Challenge. That leaves nine matches and a whole lotta show with nothing very good or noteworthy happening. The Rockers and Orient Express were cut off right as they got going or they might've nabbed MOTN. An easier watch than the two preceding and features the best main event thus far, but so dull for a monster crowd that should've had better."

Absolutely nothing was particularly interesting or had any meaning apart from the main event, there were multiple count out finishes and silly post-match angles and it just dragged on and on. The Piper match is even cut out off the network for how tone-deaf it is. The tag title match has a nice post-match bit, Miss Elizabeth being on the show is a highlight as it was for every Mania before this and while the main event is far from perfect, it was a hell of an atmosphere and they did something decent with it. Still, this show fucking sucked."

However, that doesn't change the fact that this dragged horribly in most parts, nearly reaching the never-ending level of WM IV. As a total package, the show itself is not exceptionally bad, but it's merely impossible to get through, especially with all the meaningless undercard matches cluttered throughout the PPV. Worst WrestleMania of all time? Not really, but pretty close to it."

Biggest fault with this show was the amount of matches they booked and quite a few of them were less than 5 minute filler matches that could have been cut to give more time to the good matches. Hogan/Warrior is a must for any WWF fan. Can't go better than 6 out of 10 because of the junk filler and a couple of the good matches didn't gel well between the opponents. Jake/Dibiase and Rockers/Express should have been better/booked better than they were."

Tag match is quite frankly my favorite of the night, Andre was limited of course so late in his career but they worked the match very smartly. Herc/Quake was eh. Perfect/Beefcake was passable, though a lame way to break Perfect's streak. Brown/Piper was very disappointing and the blackface gimmick was obviously bad. Hart squash, fine. Barb/Tito was a good short match, two talented guys who made the best of their slot. The Dusty/Savage tag was really fun, not perfect but one of the most fun parts of the card. Rockers/OE was decent, Bravo/Duggan was horrible. Ted/Jake was fine but too long and slow at times to be that good. Bossman/Akeem was effective for what it was and the right man won. Honky Tonk Man segment was horrible. Rude/Snuka wasn't that good. I've never been a fan of the main event to be honest, it's slow and repetitive, and putting Warrior over turned out to be a major failure. Some good, some bad, it was what it was."

[6.0] "The Model vs. Koko B. Ware. Not what you? d call a great choice for the opener. One of the most vanilla openers you? ll ever see. 1/2*. The Colossal Connection vs. Demolition. Both Andre and Ax are broken down here, but at least Ax is mobile. This would be Andre? s last match in the WWF. Not a great match, but a lot of people remember this as a big markout moment. *1/4. Earthquake (w/Jimmy Hart) vs. Hercules. Bet that slave gig is looking a lot better now, huh, Herc? Earthquake was going by ? Canadian Earthquake? up until this show, but they truncated it to avoid any patriotic fervor. This sucked. 1/4*. Mr. Perfect vs. Brutus Beefcake. Perfect has been demoted from Hogan to Beefcake, but that doesn? t stop him from bumping around like a maniac to put Beefer over. The match wasn? t that great, but Perfect? s bumping made it somewhat enjoyable. *1/2. Roddy Piper vs. Bad News Brown. This is the match where Piper made the ill-fated decision of painting half his body black. I'm not sure why they even bothered with this since Piper never jobs, and Bad News couldn? t really afford the loss at that point. The brawling looked staged too for whatever reason (moreso than your average match). 1/4*. The Hart Foundation vs. The Bolsheviks. The Harts have already laid out a challenge to Demolition, so this isn? t exactly in doubt. In fact, they attack during the Bolsheviks rendition of their national anthem and finish with the Hart Attack. Take that, country with a different economic system! 1/4*. The Barbarian vs. Tito Santana. All they were out there to do was make Barbarian look like a dominator, and Tito can sure do that. *. Dusty Rhodes & Sapphire vs. Randy Savage & Queen Sherri. This is the first mixed tag in the WWF. Savage went from the main event? to this? 1/2*. The Orient Express vs. The Rockers. This is the original version of the Express with AWA jobber Sato joining Tanaka. This was nothing. *1/2. Dino Bravo vs. Jim Duggan. Duggan diverts brain power from trying to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to trying to start a ? USA? chant. Earthquake crushes Duggan? s chest after the match, setting up a feud with Hogan. 1/2*. Jake Roberts vs Ted Dibiase. These guys faced off many times over the years. This was surprisingly good. **3/4. The Big Bossman vs. Akeem. In yet another Mid-South rematch, these two are meeting again three years later. Bad. 1/4*. Rick Rude vs. Jimmy Snuka. Rude is on his way to a big main event push ? in WCW. 3/4*. Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior. Amazing effort from both guys. This was Hogan? s first (and arguably only) attempt at putting over a new man for the WWF. It didn? t work in the long run, and that? s probably one of the reasons he? s rarely done it since. But for this one night, it? s great to see Hogan surrender the spotlight to the next generation. ****. The main event gives this show a legendary status that it doesn't really deserve. Outside of the Dibiase/Jake match, the other matches are squashes."

The ultimate challange, in which Hogan "passed the torch" to Warrior after and incredible "theatrical representation" of storytelling . As a WRESTLING point of view it was not a great match , but the story told was unbelivable and Hogan was great to told it. The two strongest forces in the universe colliding, the Story of Warrior "Stronger" than Hogan, Hogan seemed agitated , asking frequently to the referee to count faster , and Warrior sold none of Hogan's moves to represent te supremacy of the warrior over the hulkster. Ate the End Warrior won the match but hogan was protected in defeat kicking out at "3" to Warrior splash and not executing the leg Drop of doom , as make us think "What if the Leg Drop had scored? "... Incredible Match and incredible page in Wrestling History. Besides the fact that in reality the passing torch never really happened itself was a great moment. Hogan wrote about that one in his biography that they tried 20 times the all match to make it to perfection in phatos and epics. Knapp aufgerundet."

That match is a symbol of the two most powerful wrestlers one against one. The rest of Wrestlemania VI isn't good, there isn't much to save except for the Mixed tag team match and the Rockers vs Orient Express. The setting of Toronto was perfect, I'd love to see another Wrestlemania in Canada. Roddy Piper did not get a big match, he could have been used in a major match. Not a great Wrestlemania, too long and with a single great match."

Earthquake beats Hercules - squash. Beefcake beats Perfect - this match was fine but the booking was ridiculous: Perfect was semi-feuding with Hogan, Beefcake was aimless. Piper drew Brown - what a surprise, a BNB match ends in a double count-out. Pathetic finish to an uninteresting match. Harts beat Bolsheviks - Fun squash, completely unnecessary. Barbarian beats Santana - Why is this on Wrestlemania? Dusty & Sapphire beat Savage & Sherri - Savage's 3-year run of Mania match of the nights comes to a said end here in a useless mixed tag. Orient Express beat Rockers - Rockers need something to do, this was nowhere close to the standard of these team's later encounters. Duggan beats Bravo - definition of WrestleCrap, this match is typical of the worst parts of an era. DiBiase CO Roberts - This match was okay with a stupid finish... Both men had better matches so this was disappointing. Boss Man beats Akeem - so we're killing time until the main event... Rude beats Snuka - yep, is the show nearly over yet.... Warrior beats Hogan to win the WWF Championship - Shockingly good match that turned a poor Mania into the 2nd best one at the time. This match could have been terrible. It should have been terrible. But these two had practiced this match to perfection and worked within each other's limited capabilities. While no technical classic, the drama is enthralling and the finish spectacular. This match gets worse the more you watch it, but it should be viewed in historical context. Taking all this in, this is a solid *** match and a more than suitable main event. Overall this show had a poor undercard and an overachieving main event. A long but fun show to watch and the best representation of the era in WWF."

Rude/Snuka ist was nettes zwischendurch.

Enttäuscht hat mich v. a.
