324.04.2018Makai Club 9.0This was a great opener for the show. Classic DG tag team match, very quick, exciting, non-stop. The match had one pace from the very start, whether it was Kzy and Eita or Flamita and Drastik Boy, everyone went full speed, putting on a great show. Santa Maria? s comedy was kept to a minimum in this match part from one water spot. Flamita and Drastik did there usual highflying stuff but Kzy outshined them in that department imo. (***¼). ? MOCHI? This was a different type of tag team match, lots of brawling to the outside with them going all other the arena which was very surprising. One part of the match was when the camera panned to Mochizuki? s face, who was bewildered at the sight of YASSHI and Fujii fighting on the balcony. Very amusing. (**¾ ). Excellent Open The Brave Gate match. Told a nice story with Kagetora working on Yamamura? s selling the entire match and Yamaura trying to overcome that and beat the champion Kagetora while trying to establish himself.. Yamamura? s selling of the leg was good as well, even when he was running around, you could see his struggling at times. (***¾). Another good multi-man tag team match. Kinda hard to notice everything in the match, so this will be rather short. Everyone looked great, everyone? s styles meshed well and the match was well structured. (***½). This match had lots of near falls and all of them were done well and it made this match very dramatic in parts. Some great 1 on 1 & tag wrestling. (****). Even though the rules may be confusing on a paper, this match was really simple in its execution. At first I was confused as to way Kong making it to the end has the most to lose but then I saw it as, the closer you get to the title, the bigger the risk and that makes perfect sense to me. The match itself was incredible, so chaotic, so much fun to watch, very creative and exciting. Doi was fantastic throughout the match, YAMATO was pretty good also. This was a war and it looked like it by the end of the match. (****¾)

715.07.2017see base 2cubed4.0Very disappointing show . There where certainly high points but when you the main is that long and is bad it puts a damper on the whole show . The main was a mess from the start . A cage really only takes away from the strengths of this group which are wide open faced pace action . The portion of the match that was capture the flag was basically the usual one guy goes up every one pulls him down . They all had trouble negotiating the cage , especially Kong but that was worked into the story line . A match that included Doi and Takagi was bad . The rest of the show was for the most part good but still not up to the normal DG level . That doesn't include the Tag Title match which was great and continues Cima and D. Kid's awesome run . Matches worth watching : Jimmy Kanda & Syachihoko BOY vs. Shun Skywalker & Shun Watanabe , Over Generation (Eita & Gamma) & Drastik Boy vs. Tribe Vanguard (Flamita, Kzy & Yosuke Santa Maria) , Jimmy Kagetora (c) vs. Takehiro Yamamura , Jimmyz (Genki Horiguchi HAGeeMee, Jimmy K-ness JKS, Jimmy Susumu & Ryo Jimmy Saito) vs. MaxiMuM (Ben-K, Big R Shimizu, Kotoka & Masato Yoshino) and my top match was Over Generation (CIMA & Dragon Kid) (c) vs. VerserK (El Lindaman & T-Hawk) .
812.05.2017jboyaquar7.0Not only was 'Dead or Alive' among my top events in '13 & in my top 3 of '14, but the Scramble Cage Melee Main Event is consistently among my favorite puroresu presentations of the year. Typically the stipulations, subsequent storyline and ringside chaos gel together to create a grand theatre of the absurd whose consequences also emotionally reverberate. Though on the onset the stips from this year appeared a tad convoluted, I felt the match's second-half was terrific. Not only did consecutive-year victor YAMATO exit the ring even stronger as 'Dream Gate' champion, but the unmasking of Cyber Kong, a happenstance most saw coming due to his purposeful removal of the mask in Osaka, was parfait. Cyber has been a consistent, if medicore, power-based heel enforcer for almost a decade. He's a heel due to his size, but when unmasked his face is akin to an even goofier Shimizu but, w/ regards to his babyface future, an endearingly sweet teddy-bear. He looks like a nice guy and my pleasant interactions w/ him @ events would seem to confirm this. Anyway I was jumping up & down, like the middle-aged ladies upon YAMATO's exit from the ring, and thought this to be Great entertainment. 4 stars. Unfortunately, the other title matches underdelivered. I may be in the minority but I did not like KAGE/Yamamura. Not only did the greenie sell the wrong knee t/out the final act of his Brave Gate challenge, but the match's design didn't do the champ any favors. He went 50-50 w/ a relative rook who twice recently pinned him and did not compete as if he was bothered by that fact. The beats of their bouts were handled well, but for a guy who finally won his first singles title, on a dark show, this wasn't a momentum-building victory. The Twin Gate suffered from my disbelief that D Gate would JOB hometown D Kid out. Lindy was alright but isn't at the other guys levels. Other stuff - I like the Jimmyz as tweeners, Fuji's massacre of Tominaga, and the dives of the opener. 6. 75

1108.05.2017TheRainmaker287.0Good show. The opener was solid (**1/2); Tribe Vanguard vs Eita, Gamma & Drastik was awesome, fast paced action from start to finish, with some good comedy (***1/4); Fuji e Mochiuzuki vs Punch e YASSHI was a bit too long, but it was pretty good (**1/2); Kagetora vs Yamamura was awesome. They traded some stiff strikes at the start, and then Kagetora started to go for Yamamura's leg, which he made a hell of a good job working on. I think that Yama's selling of the leg was a little spotty, but he sold pretty damn well most of the time when he wasn't doing his flying stuff, and then the finishing stretch was awesome, great nearfalls. Another great match for the Brave Gate title (****); Jimmyz vs MaxiMuM was awesome too, great tag fast paced action (***1/2); CIMA & Dragon Kid vs T-Hawk & Lindaman was pretty good, they took a little time to get on the right pace, but was a solid match (***1/4); The Main Event was chaotic, but a lot fun to watch. Still have some good wrestling all around (***). Was a fun show to watch overrall, really liked.
