So obvious that WCW were trying to be ECW here, and also very obvious that they were desperately trying to relieve the nWo angle with the New Blood. [1st match] Call this a Lumberjack match, because that's what is basically is. Starts ok, but then breaks down. Finish is really obnoxious, Corporal Cajun rolled Loco onto Disco right in front of the ref, and he just let it go. ** [2nd match] Vito cheated on The Bull with The Hardcore belt. **1/2 [3rd match] Ambulance matches tend to have swerves, and this one is no different. **1/4 [4th match] This was oddly enjoyable, finish again ruined it a little. *** [5th match] Very weird take on the Table stip. Finish made little sense and made me mad. * [6th match] This has to be one of the stupidest ideas for a match ever. 3 guys in basically a small MMA Cage... and they can barely move around to do anything! at least it ended quickly. DUD [7th match] This Hogan rub really isn't doing much for Kidman, as they produce yet another dull match. *1/2 [8th match] Even Rick can't help David to a decent match. 1/2* [9th match] I guess you can call this a reverse scaffold match? a few basic moves in the ring before they bail and head towards the stage. Sting takes a pretty high bump... to zero reaction. And yes the Human torch spot itself is pretty awful, as is the aftermath as the commentators give it the Owen Hart treatment. -** [Main] This probably is the worst main event of the year 2000... and that's saying something! -**1/2 Even at their most worst, usually there's at least 1 or 2 matches on WCW's PPVs that aren't awful... that certainly isn't the case here. |

Die ersten paar Matches sind durchaus noch halbwegs tolerabel, aber um so länger der PPV wurde, um so deutlicher wurde, dass Russo keine Ahnung hat, wie man eine Wrestling-Veranstaltung plant, ohne in jedem Match Turns, Run Ins, Swerves, die man 10 Meilen gegen den Wind gerochen hat, oder Waffengebrauch einzusetzen. Ist irgendein Match hier klar zu Ende gegangen? Getoppt wird das ganze natürlich von so höchst unsinnigen Ideen, wie Asylum- oder Human Torch-Matches oder den komplett unisinnigen Goldberg-Turn. Fällt mir schwer zu glauben, dass bei der Planung davon, wirklich Leute gesagt haben "Ja, das ist gut. Das machen wir so. Das kommt bestimmt gut an. " Puh. Wenn man die WCW-Endzeit heute sieht, dann relativiert sich viele Kritik an WWE... |

Every match loaded with unnecessary interference (the Cruiserweight Title match might as well not have been going on, so little focus was placed on the actual competitors); nearly every match featuring an equally-unnecessary and often ridiculous stipulation (what the hell was that Asylum Match? ), turns for the sake of turns (i. e. Kanyon). And only a year after Owen Hart's death, did anybody really think it was a good idea to have the show's biggest spot be "Sting" (or a reasonable facsimile thereof) falling off the top of the screen in the show's biggest spot? When one of the best matches on the card - by default, since it had little interference until the end - involved Shawn Stasiak, you know you're in trouble. For us WCW fans who stuck with it to the bitter end, this was a sorry sight to behold. |

| 23 | 07.09.2018 | Sebastian V | 2.0 | Der Opener begann eigentlich ganz hoffnungsvoll, wurde dann aber abrupt durch Chaos beendet. Das Tag Title Match war dann auch eher unauffällig. Beim Ambulance Match muss man sagen: ich bin nicht gerade ein Fans dieser Stipulation. Das Match hatte auch irgendwie nicht wirklich was außer die Story des Turns von Kanyon. Das Boot Camp Match war eine komische Stipulation, die zu einem recht einfachen Brawl führte. Ähnlich ereignisarm war für mich auch das Tables Match, wobei mich hier verwirrte das die Kommentatoren selbst nicht wussten, ob first to five oder best of five ( spezifischer: Madden wusste mal wieder nix). Das US Title Match war dann nicht mehr als ein Handicap Squash, der aber auch vor Allem dafür da war, die rote Linie rund um New Blood weiter zu verfolgen. Beim Hogan Retirement Match war von vornerein klar wie es ausgehen würde. Wrestlerisch war das natürlich nix tolles aber wenigstens Horace als Referee brachte etwas Spannung mit rein. Dann kam für mich das klare MOTN. Ric Flair zog seinen Sohn sicher zu keinem guten aber einem passablen Match und auch David hatte ein paar gute Momente ( wie die Chops) und sellte ganz anständig. Natürlich war auch hier wieder Overbooking aber hier in sinnvoller Art und Weise und mit einem Fell Good Moment. Russo wurde sehr hassenswert dargestellt, sodass man sich schon freute das die Flair Familie ihre Rache bekam. Vampiro gegen Sting war dann leider eins der Lowlights. Das ganze passte zwar zu ihren Charakteren, aber man konnte da oben fast nix sehen. Das ME war ganz okay ohne was besonderes zu sein, wenn das Overbooking am Ende mit dem gerade im Anbetracht der Backstageereignisse sinnlosen Turn von Goldberg nicht gewesen wäre. Das war wirklich ein schlechter PPV aber es gab auch schlechteres wie Halloween Havoc des selben Jahres oder Uncensored 1996. Es gab keine guten Matches aber es gab auch weniger Sachen die mich aufgeregt haben im Vergleich zu den erwähnten Shows. Es war einfach "nur" lahm und daher 2 Pu |

Chavo/Disco is a bad opener, the match is all but ignored as Major Gunns strips and gives "mouth to mouth" to some old man. Riveting. Mamalukes/Kronik was actually solid, and easily the best match on the card, and it still wasn't really any good. DDP/Awesome was shaping up to be decent when the first of many asinine swerves happens. After almost being killed by Awesome a month before, Kanyon joins forces with Awesome. Stupid, and ruined the match. Booker/Stasiak also might have been ok, but once again it's overbooked to hell with Chuck Palumbo wrestling about half the match. Wall/Dougas is a "3 out of 5" Tables match, which is a great way to kill the gimmick. Wall goes through only 2 tables but somehow loses anyway. Still one of the least terrible matches on the card. The Asylum match is freakin' horrible, as expected. It's a sad day when a poor Kidman/Hogan match is far less awful than most of the card, though it's still not any good. Flair/David is a horrible hash featuring way too much Russo and Flair's young children being involved, Vampiro/Sting is infamous in it's stupidity, and then the crowning achievement, Nash beats up seven guys at once in a horrible excuse for a main event, with the cherry on top being one of the dumbest decisions in wrestling history, Goldberg turning heel. This company deserved to die. |

Und so war es auch. (1 3/4*) 2. TT Match war auch nichts besonderes. Kronik wird weiter etabliert. Zudem botcht Stamboli seinen Sprung. Sah doch peinlich aus. Und wie so üblich wird das von den WCW Kommentatoren als gewollt und athletisch verkauft. (1 1/4*) 3. Awesome gegen DDP war dann schon eine Spur besser. Aber auch hier wurde das Finish komplett verbookt. Den Cutter von Kanyon fand ich aber gut. (2 1/2*) 4. GI Bro gegen Stasiak war Mist. WCW konnte einfach nicht mit den LMS Matches des Konkurrenten mithalten. Und genau um die Zeit herum zeigten Y2J/HHH wie man sowas macht. Zurecht vom Publikum mit Bullshit Chants quittiert. (-*) 5. Beim Match zw. Franchise & The Wall war das Ende gut. Auch wenn man den Kommentar aus dem ITCC bestätigen muss, wie blöd The Wall ist. (1*) 6. US Title Match war schlecht. Allein schon die Fläche zu sehen auf der die Akteure einen Kampf liefern sollten, ließ schon erahnen dass das nicht gut werden konnte. Dazu noch Abbott & Rick. Ne. Hier hätte man abschalten können und die WCW verklagen sollen. Abbotts Standing, falls er eines gehabt hat, ist jetzt komplett dahin. Einzig die kürze lässt einen positiv sinnen. (-**** 3/4*) 7. Kidman gegen Hogan war solide und eines der besseren Matches an diesen Abend. Nur gewinnt halt wieder Hogan. Etliche Fans haben auf was anderes gehofft, wie man an den Plakaten sah. Zudem hat eigentlich Kidman recht: Hogan schert sich nur um Hogan und ist sich zu fein um den Job zu machen. Ach wie recht der hat. (2*) 8. Unglaublich. David Flair im Match des Abends. Es war kein Meilenstein aber es reichte an diesen Abend. Dann weiß man wie schlecht der Abend war. Interessant die junge Charlotte zu sehen. Wieder etliche Eingriffe und am Ende triumphiert Ric.
