[4.0] "The only positive for SuperBrawl IX is that the actual wrestling wasnt THAT bad overall, with only one match really stinking out the joint, with the rest at least being somewhat watchable to one degree or another. The booking drags the show down A LOT, but overall I dont think you could say that it was a full-on Stinker. SuperBrawl IX is the definitely the next level up from true Stinkerdom though and I certainly wouldnt recommend watching it unless you either love the nWo or you just love getting angry at how stupid short sighted a major wrestling promotion can be"
[5.0] "One of the better WCW PPVs this time and they finally got out the mediocre territory that they've oh so had since after Slamboree '98. This was a pretty smooth card but it suffers with a lack of any memorable matches here. We just get a show that usually stays in the same ballpark and never really dips or rises. Some of the finishes hurt some people and unmasking Rey Misterio Jr just felt like spitting on his name. A lot of backstage turmoil was happening around this time and morale was at an all time low. Let's hope this PPV signals a rise for WCW. [**1/2]"
[6.0] "Only one shitty match on this card. The rest was actually quite decent to good. It lacks one REALLY epic match though, so I actually gave it a 5.9."
[4.0] "Bis zum Outsiders-Match ist das eine fast richtig seriöse Veranstaltung. Zwar ohne Highlights, so werden die ersten vier Partien immerhin mit Ernsthaftigkeit und Engagement angegangen, wobei besonders das Turnierfinale mit den Horsemen positiv überrascht. Alles was danach kommt, ist der ärgerliche Kram, der die WCW ins Verderben treibt. Die ewigen Erfolge der nWo, das Verwursten einer Masken-Stipulation, Goldberg und Bigelow wirken ahnungslos, und der Hulkster ist und bleibt eine lästige Erscheinung. Das sind die falschen Signale an die Zuschauer, denn wo mal Innovation und Veränderung draufstand, ist jetzt nur noch Stillstand und Selbstzufriedenheit drin. Vier Punkte für die Undercard, danach geht die Show vor die Hunde."
[3.0] "The most notable thing about this show is how terrible the commentary is, with Bobby Heenan checked out entirely and probably drunk, and Tony Schiavone unable to tolerate him or deal with being wound up by him, it's clear they hated each other by this point. Frankly, I wish I still drank after watching this show. There were a couple of decent matches early on, but it fell right off by the fourth match and never recovered. NWO-era WCW never had good main events at their PPVs, but by this point the undercard was falling apart too. Avoid."
[4.0] "Do you like the nWo Wolfpac? do you like terrible finishes? do you like Kevin Nash? If so boy are you in for a treat! [1st match] One of the few good matches on the show, but Booker was unusually sloppy. *** [2nd match] Started off really good, until the first of the bizarre finishes occurred. ***1/2 [3rd match] Lacked the high flying stuff usually associated with the Cruiserweights, but high in drama and intensity. ***3/4 [4th match] I thought this was long and boring, and didn't seem like either team were actively trying to win a championship, they just did stuff forever. **1/2 [5th match] I think only Nash could love this match. ** [6th match] Overbooked & over-gimmicked, but I guess it made DDP look strong? ** [7th match] Piper did more than usual, but no way should he be holding a Title at this point. Finish probably unnecessary. *1/2 [8th match] Strong showing from Bam Bam, and a tough challenge for Goldberg. *3/4 [Main] Started off well enough, and was genuinely engrossing. But became yet another match riddled with interference and a dumb swerve. * Did they confuse this show with Uncensored? because that's what it felt like!"
[5.0] "Not as bad as I expected for WCW 99 PPV? s. The main event was average but I didn't expect much else. The card ranged from good to okay with the odd bad match here and there. Best To Worst: Scott Steiner vs. Diamond Dallas Page - [***1/4]. Barry Windham & Curt Hennig vs. The Four Horsemen (Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko) - [***]. Chris Jericho vs. Perry Saturn - [***]. Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Goldberg - [**1/2]. Kidman vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. - [**1/2]. Konnan & Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. The Outsiders (Kevin Nash & Scott Hall) - [**1/4]. Hollywood Hogan vs. Ric Flair - [**]. Booker T vs. Disco Inferno [**]. Roddy Piper vs Scott Hall - [*]."
[5.0] "Keine schlechte Show aber für sechs Punkte fehlte mir doch noch etwas. Die ersten drei Matches ließen die Show gut beginnen, das Tag Team Match war gut jedoch in der ersten Ansetzung mit zwanzig Minuten an der Stelle der Card und allgemein viel zu lang, was man dann ja auch teilweise an den Reaktionen der Fans in der Halle hören konnte. DDP und Steiner mit einem soliden Match. Piper gegen Hall brauchte ich nicht, so wie ein Mann wie Piper den Gürtel nicht gebraucht hat. Bigelow gegen Goldberg kurz und knackig und leider der übliche WCW-Nonsense im Main Event. Bemerkenswert wie alt manche der Beteiligten damals bereits waren, die zu der Zeit immer noch an der Spitze der WCW waren."
[5.0] "Booker vs Disco * 1/2, Jericho vs Saturn ** 3/4, Kidman vs Chavo ** 1/4, WCW Tag Title Tourney Final ***, Konnan und Rey vs Outsiders ***, Steiner vs DDP *** 1/4 MOTN, Hall vs Piper ** 1/2, Goldberg vs Bam Bam **, Hogan vs Flair ** 1/2. Eine absolut vollgepackte Show welche leider enttäuschte. Die Card selbst versprach namentlich sehr viel und auch der Buildup zu ein paar Matches war ganz nett. Gerade Bam Bam und Goldberg hatten geniale Brawls und dann dieses Match.... Das Tag Title Finale war toll besetzt und enttäuschte. Die dumme Loser Bracket Stipulation verhalf dem ganzen auch nicht. MOTN tatsächlich eine solide Geschichte zwischen DDP und Steiner, welche beide wohl die dümmste Fehde der ganzen Card hatten."
[6.0] "1. Booker T gegen Disco war in Ordnung. (2 1/2*) 2. Jericho gegen Saturn die Zweite endete leider etwas enttäuschend. Das Finish ist doch wirklich schwach gewählt. (3 1/4*) 3. Kidman gegen Chavo war auch in Ordnung. Mehr aber auch nicht. Zur Abwechslung einmal ein CW Title Match bei dem jetzt nicht wie wild durch den Ring geflogen wird. (3*) 4. TT Match war dann gut. Für mich auch das MotN und hätte eher einen Guide Eintrag verdient gehabt als das Outsiders Match. Wirklich starke erstes Match mit guter Bearbeitung von Benoit. Leider wie so typisch für die WCW, ist der zweite Fall dann eine Farce. Wird dem Match wirklich nicht gerecht. (3 1/2*) 5. Outsiders gegen Mysterio & Konnan siehe Guide. 6. Steiner gegen Page siehe Guide. (3 1/4*) 7. Hall gegen Piper brauchte ich wirklich nicht. Piper war hier sowieso schon Jahre über den Zenit. Dazu noch das nWo Gebooke gegen Ende was schon an Misshandlung des Gehirns & Verstandes bestraft werden sollte, da dass schon Jahre nach dem selben Schema läuft und irgendwann ist mal genug. (3/4*) 8. Bigelow gegen Goldberg versprach dann auf den Papier mehr als dann am Ende rauskam. Trotzdem ein besseres Gldberg Match. (2 1/2*) 9. Den ME fand ich dann weniger prickelnd. Beide brauchte ich im Jahr 99 nicht mehr im ME um den wichtigsten Titel der WCW. Lief nach dem üblichen Schema der beiden ab. Dazu noch der Turn. Man konnte schon unter der Maske erkennen dass das David Flair war. Warum? Nach dem schlechten Match beim letzten PPV serviert man den Fans den Typen weiter. (1 1/4*)"
[6.0] "Actually a pretty solid show, though far from spectacular. There’s a lack of a really great match, but on the upside most of the stuff is not bad, and much of it is good. Booker/Disco is a decent opener, Disco was never very good but Booker is ready to be elevated at this point. Jericho/Saturn was just ok, a bit disappointing. The dress stuff isn’t too good, and neither is the Dickinson angle, even though the action is pretty good. Chavo/Kidman is a good CW style match, though not especially memorable. The tag title match is quite good, a bit slow at times but Benoit and Hennig especially have some very fun sequences. The mask vs. hair match is enjoyable at times, especially Rey himself, but of course the outcome was a mistake by WCW. It worked alright for Juvi, but Rey just looks too much like a little kid. DDP/Steiner is the match of the night, actually a pretty great battle between two guys who should have been on top of WCW at this time. Goldberg/Bigelow is honestly excellent for what it is, Bigelow is a little past his peak but still bumps around for Goldberg admirably, and Goldberg is working extra hard at this time. The main event is actually ok in terms of action and the crowd is into it, bloody and quite intense at times. The reveal of David Flair after the match as the guy who betrayed Ric is pretty stupid though, the shadow of Russo proceeding his actual arrival. Still, a fine show, especially compared to others of the era."
[3.0] "Pretty good event... on paper! Very little clicked as it should have, which is surprising when you see some of the match-ups. Booker T vs. Disco, Jericho vs. Saturn, Kidman vs. Chavo, Windham/Hennig vs. Benoit/Malenko, Steiner vs. DDP, Piper vs. Hall, Bam Bam vs. Goldberg, Hogan vs. Flair -- all of that sounds at least fairly entertaining... but pretty much everything under-delivered. Disappointing show."
[6.0] "Insgesamt eine etwas überdurchschnittliche Show. Gerade die ersten vier Matches der Veranstaltung können überzeugen - sind allerdings auch nichts weltbewegendes, sondern solide Ringarbeit. Das gilt eigentlich auch für den Rest der Show, wenn man mal das stupide Ende des Main Events außer Acht lässt. Lediglich das erste World Tag Team Tournament Final ragt etwas positiv und das Hall-Piper Match etwas negativ heraus."
[6.0] "Booker gegen Inferno ist ein schöner kleiner Opener mit einem gut aufgelegten Booker T, 6/10. Saturn gegen Jericho ist an sich ein gutes Match mit stupidem Finish, den Ref hätte er doch danach noch attackieren können, 6/10. Kidman gegen Chavo ist zwar kurz, wirkt aber länger, da nicht so viel passiert, war ebenfalls ok, 6/10. Das Tag Match ist dann bis dato mein MOTN, ganz klar. Klassisches Heel-Face Match, bei dem zunächst die Faces die Oberhand haben gegen Hennig, dann muss aber Benoit dran glauben, schönes Comeback und guter erster Fall, das danach war Story und Müll, aber das Tag Match war richtig stark, 8/10. Und wie geil ist das Team Benoit/Malenko bitte? Die Guides sind 6/10 und 7/10. Piper gegen Hall ist einfach langweilig, und das in 8 Minuten. Schlechtes Ref-Verhalten, schlechte Punches, nur der Fingerpoke ist erwähnenswert, 3/10. Goldberg wird von Bam Bam zu einem wirklich schönen Match getragen, das mir gefallen konnte, 7/10. Hogan gegen Flair brauche ich zwar 99 nicht mehr, aber es war nicht schlecht, 6/10. Insgesamt ist das keine gute, aber auch keine schlechte Show, viel mittelmäßiges Zeug, nur das Tag Team Match kann mich wirklich begeistern, 6 Punkte."
[6.0] "Opener **1/4, Jericho vs Saturn **1/2, Kidman vs Chavo ***, TT Titles **3/4, Hair vs Mask **1/2, Steiner vs Page ***1/2, Hall vs Piper 1/2*, Goldberg vs Bigelow *3/4, ME **1/4. Nach Steiner vs Page hätte die Show enden sollen. Bis dahin gabs kein schlechtes und 2 gute Matche. Dann das grauenhafte Hall vs Piper, das öde Goldberg vs Bam Bam und das typische ME. Dennoch eine ordentliche Show die leider einen Stinker hat der eine höhere Wertung verhindert."
[7.0] "Fand den PPV damals absolut gelungen. Die ersten 4 Matches bieten allesamt gutes Wrestling und wissen zu unterhalten. Outsiders vs. Konnan und Rey geht noch durch, DDP vs. Steiner ist wirklich gut und sehenswert. Die letzten 3 Matches sind vom Wrestling her erträglich, auch wenn Goldberg vs. BBB die Spannung fehlt und Flair vs. Hogan von einer weird Storyline überschattet wird... Dennoch ansehnlicher WCW PPV !"
[6.0] "Das Tag Match der Horsemen gegen die West Texas Rednecks war klasse, der Main Event zwischen Hogan und Flair war selbst im Jahr 1999 noch zu genießen, was dort ja nicht unbedingt mehr zu erwarten war! Was wäre wohl, wenn das Match in wenigen Wochen bei Wrestlemania 24 Ric Flairs letztes Match sein sollte? ! Steiner vs Page war übrigens auch noch ok, Dallas ohnehin schon lange over und Steiner auf dem besten Weg dazu!"
[6.0] "Außer dem US Title Match fiel kein Match negativ auf, selbst der Main Event lag auf einem erträglichen Niveau. Alles in allem ein ordentlicher PPV, aber nichts, was man auf keinen Fall verpassen sollte."
