It was an embarrassing moment for the company and I hope whoever? s idea that was is left to feel shame about it some 25 years later. |

It starts off rough with Van Hammer coming out to the ring as a hippy for the opening bout, continues with an acceptable match with Saturn and the less impressive Windham, and soon enough a great match with a newly freed from the Flock Kidman who delivers a great performance as he takes the Cruiserweight title from Juvi. Then follows a couple of skippable matches, including Meng and Giant fighting like kids who have never fought a day in their life and just swing wildly, and then there's the awful drunk Scott Hall storyline. I suppose WCW saw what WWF was doing with Road Warrior Hawk's real life substance abuse issues and wanted to do it themselves. THe highlight of the match was absolutely Arn Anderson's loooong promo, leading up to a teary-eyed Ric Flair coming back to WCW and the re-establishment of the Four Horsemen. Which is somewhat bittersweet because it means we'll probably see more Mongo. THe main event was acceptable, though strange without the buildup, and there's the obligatory interference that ends the match. |

Juvi vs. Kidman rocks, and Giant vs. Meng is two and a half minutes of two guys trying to see god by destroying each other. Of course the whole Arn/Flair segment is just incredible, and there are other good bits too. Two very bad parts, the "Drunk Hall" match and Ultimate Warrior "teleporting" around and kidnapping the Disciple, of course using the trapdoor he insisted on which will all but cripple Davey Boy on a bad landing. Still, overall very good Nitro. |

| 9 | 22.09.2019 | Smi-48 | 7.0 | South Carolina, der Reboot der Horsemen in den Startlöchern. Fehlt nur noch Flair? Zunächst erscheint Miller während des ersten Matches und scheint sauer auf Wright. Piper lässt Hart danach nicht vom Haken, obwohl der sich wohl verletzt hat. Mit leichten Schwierigkeiten kann sich Saturn dann gegen Kendall Windham durchsetzen, wie auch immer es zu dieser Konstellation gekommen sein mag. Nachdem der echte Warrior mittlerweile in der WCW angekommen ist, hat man für den Renegade keine Verwendung mehr. Eine für ihn im Selbstverständnis fatale Entwicklung. Wieder wettert der Hulkster gegen den Warrior, wieder gibt es mysteriösen Nebel und weg ist Leslie. Der Titelgewinn Kidmans als Belohnung für sein Engagement in der Raven-Story ist angemessen und als Match mehr als in Ordnung. Der Bulldog siegt, hat aber offensichtlich ziemliche Schmerzen. Und nochmal Rauch und nochmal der Warrior, damit das Match zwischen ihm und Hogan jetzt auch so richtig festgemacht wird. Wer es braucht. Apropos 'wer es braucht' - Big Poppa Pump bringt eine Doppel-Submission gegen zwei PPV-Teilnehmer auf einmal durch. Auch irgendwie albern. Meng, sonst gerne als so ein harter Hund verkauft, unterliegt dem Giant nach nur einem Move. No Contest bei Ramon und Luger, denn Hall sieht aus wie ein Wrack, gibt den Besoffski und kotzt auch ordentlich ab. Eklig und 'way over the top'. Das Geschehen rund um die Horsemen ist schon echt schaurig schön, bevor Sting dank Hogans Einmischung ein weiteres Goldberg-Opfer wird. Ja, so könnte Nitro öfter sein - da passt zwar nicht alles, aber doch so etliches. |

Die Wiedervereinigung der Horseman verursachte bei mir immer noch Gänsehaut und das Segment ist eines der Top3 Segmente der Nitrogeschichte. Dazu ein klasse Segment mit dem Flock und Kidmans Titelgewinn. Giant-Meng war unterhalsam, Saturn-Windham und der Main Event, immerhin ein World Title Match, waren auch recht gut. Abzüge gibt es nur für die Hallstory und das Handicapmatch. |
