'13 while staying in Taipei's Ximending district, that ironically often evokes comparisons to Tokyo's Harajuku, my hotel threatened to keep me from seeing the sights by having a cable channel, only one of 25 at that hotel, exclusively devoted to airing mid 2000's AJPW shows from Korakuen. Muto used to annually run Taiwan and as Kojima is in the main event I'm curious to see if there's any dynamic between Kojima and the crowd. A vociferous crowd greets the openers. R Vice sell for Henare's strength but skill and dynamicism soon take over. Finlay didn't do much. I'm sure some hardcores were over-the-moon that the long awaited Bone Soldier/Yoshi-Tatsu singles clash would happen... right here in Taipei. Not the embarassment that Korakuen was but it still sucked. Omega's over... where's Ishii? Crowd knows to 'whooo' for J's chops. 'We Want Kenny' chant. At first KO rejects a tag, heel messin'. Jado was obviously too traumatized from KO f**k'n him up six years back to take anything manly... and he's a champion? ! No dye-job/new tights yet for Ospreay but fans know of and chant for him in the Ole' melody. Probs 1st time competing in Taiwan, NM deserved to be put-over the most in the match. The GoD/Chaos tag wasn't much of anything and Okada wasn't much of a star. There was no intriguing dynamic nor any special emotional pull to the Main - house show formula. Two heel teams win, TN teasing throwing his hat only to hold back -> not sound business for a once-a-year trip. |
