131.12.2018Paul Allain9.0As a big and eventful crossover show, this was a resounding success. The first half was a purely Freelance product, albeit with a violent twist to accomodate the CZW theme. The scramble match was fun and spiced by other indy standouts, with AR Fox predictably stealing the show. Page/Anthony was a solid piece of their rivalry, violent enough to do justice to the feud before a bigger blow-off later on. The N-Words/Beauties feud has gotten really stale, but the singles match gave it a bit of variety, with even a nice coda between Acid Jaz and Rob Matter, just to put it over-the-top. The CZW versus Freelance portion started out with an 8-Men Tag Match, with spotty line-ups and a sub-optimal finish pairing, but they smartly gave more time to the better participants and downplayed the weakness of others. The DJ Hyde vs Suge D segment took a huge chunk of time, with highs and lows. The match had decent brawling around the place and a more poignant in-ring ending stretch, but it is hard to not be distracted by the random and gruesome arm bleeding of Suge D, which feels unreal, worries you and take you out of the match where it barely has its place. The GPA/Sutra mini-program end delivered on the fronts of violence and emotion, with the only criticism being Kenny Sutra's stupid attire. The CZW Title match was kept short but relatively good. The main event between Mustafa Ali and Jonathan Gresham was unsurprisingly great, with the two best wrestlers available going at it for 25 minutes and tearing down the house, using the full technical abilities, high-flying moves and engaging charisma to craft an ideal main event. With the CZW teams saluting the crowd, the show ended up being a resounding success, a true supershow for Freelance Wrestling with great wrestling and storyline advancement that will give fuel for the next shows, making this probably the best show in Freelance existence and a definite eye-opener to a larger audience for Freelance Wrestling.

403.08.2016Corwo9.0Awesome show with a wide variety of matches, meaning there's something for everyone. The six-way scramble was a fun opener in which AR Fox and WWA4 trainee Austin Theory furthered their rivalry. I was skeptical about the stipulation, but "The Battle of the Egos" proved to be another fun contest. I didn't mind the finish because it made sense within the context of Freelance vs. CZW. Later on, Velazquez did a good job of adapting to the CZW style against Matt Tremont. The main event between Ali and Gresham is must-see.
502.08.2016jboyaquar8.0I very much appreciate and dig these inter-promotional events and wonder why mid-sized organizations don't turn them into sanctioned tournaments or make more notoriety from having an individual associated with one brand hold an important title of the other. Unfortunately my copy of this particular event placed the camera in the back corner of Chicago's Bottom Lounge making it very difficult to appreciate the facials and intra-move nuances of the matches. That being said, the energy was strong throughout this event and it featured two matches that one should go out of their way to watch: the two-out-of-three fall tables match between indie stalwart R Anthony and the cretinous Canadian Ethan Page & the high-paced FW title match between two undervalued talents in N. America, J Gresham and Prince Mustafa Ali. I also feel DJ Hyde has a face/persona/backstory that makes him a likable/hatable mid-card heel and he was matched up ideally with the fun-loving Suge D. AR Fox got the show off on the right foot; overall a very enjoyable show with the expected local filled but also with two matches at *** 1/2 and above. A 7. 5 rounded up in order to attract some fans.
