[5.0] "This was a slog to get through. There were too many legends matches and not enough focus on the current product. The matches were ok, but there were no standouts. The tag team match was probably best, though it was hampered by stupidity of a mask gimmick. But I wouldn't seek this show out for anything."
[5.0] "I thought this was a decent first Slamboree event. The Night of Legends concept was pretty good; it probably would've been better to just honour the legends instead of also having matches, but I didn't mind the Funk/Bockwinkel match so I guess it was worth it enough. The short lived WCW Hall of Fame started on this show, with a (rough starting) induction ceremony that was a nice sentiment. This show has its weak points but it really picks up for the last few matches; which were all good title bouts. There was some really old legends wrestling on this show yet my least favourite match was still the one with the former Nailz. This was also the show that saw Sid Vicious return to WCW. This show also saw the infamous return of the Four Horsemen with added Paul Roma."
[3.0] "Eine mehr als zweischneidige Angelegenheit ist Slamboree in diesem Jahr. Man hat schon kein gutes Gefühl, als man Benoit im Opener in reiner Jobberrolle entdeckt, und auch die folgenden 90 Minuten sind ein tränenreiches Tal quälender Langeweile, verstaubter Nostalgie oder schlicht grottiger Underperformance. Just nailz it! Mit dem Sieg der Blondes wird die Show endlich konsumierbar, Anderson und Windham machens deftig und der Mainer ist mindestens grundsolide. Aber es nutzt nichts, da habe ich längst Sodbrennen. Und dann kann das in Summe einfach nicht ausreichend sein."
[6.0] "Both World Title matches delivered, though none is necessarily an all-time classic or anything. The show was promoted as a legends reunion show, so I didn't mind the numerous legends segments/cameos throughout the night, even though some of the legends matches were (understandably) slow for obvious reasons. Even then, Bockwinkel vs. Dory was a very good legends match. The cage match was great, and while nothing else stood out, nothing was necessarily bad apart from Sting vs Nailz. A low 6 seems fair for this PPV."
[5.0] "Cooles Opening Match, das Finish war aber nah dran direkt ins Gesicht zu gehen. Sid Vicious mit kurzem Return Match. Das erste Legendenmatch fand ich gut, ich vermute es war nicht Unwissenheit oder Ignoranz sondern Absicht die einstigen Rivalen Snuka und Muraco in ein Team zu stecken. Der zweite Legendenkampf war natürlich wrestlerisch sehr schwach aber zog wohl ein paar Reaktionen beim Publikum. Geil bei "Flair for the Gold" wie Zbyszko "Hi John" (Tolos? ) sagte weil sein Mikro wohl noch an war. Bockwinkel gegen Dory Jr. fand ich cool, toll wie sie in dem Alter noch so einen Kampf zeigen konnten, dieser kam aber scheinbar beim Publikum gar nicht an, falscher Zeit und falscher Stil, vermute ich. Greg Valentine sieht nicht nur aus wie sein Vater sondern klang auch genau wie dieser bzw. andersherum. Okayes Tag Team Match im Anschluss. Klasse wie das Publikum Gordon Solie ihren Tribut zollte und er sichtlich davon berührt war. Sting gegen den ehemaligen Nailz ein kurzes Standardmatch. Das Cage Match fand ich cool, wie auch die letzten beiden Matches."
[4.0] "Yeah this event wasn? t that great. Most of the matches were either boring or made up of 50+ year old men who had no business being in a ring again. The only matches worth watching are the World Tag Title match, the WCW title match and the NWA title match. Tag title match was MOTN and Austin and Pullman are co-MVPs. Overall, I wouldn? t come back to relive this one to remember the legends. 4/10"
[5.0] "Jesse ist im Krankenhaus, deal with it. Keine Genesungswünsche, daür Maxx Payne an der Klampfe. Legenden steht Unnütz im Ring herum und Moolah bekommt einen extra Entrance. Eine Dame im Publikum ist so wuschig, dass sie ein „MARUS is GREAT“-Schild gebastelt hat. Solider Opener. Sid ist zurück und seine Powerbomb auch. Schneller Squash. 2/3 von Hot Stuff International der ECW stehen hier im ersten Legends-Match. Komplett wild, ähnlich wie das folgende Tag-Match. Arn Anderson schnackt etwas mit Ric Flair und präsentiert die 1993er Version der Four Horsemen. Der Schwiegervater von Zbyszko steht hier am Ring und schaut einen ebenso lahmen Fight an. Die Hall of Fame Zeremonie erinnert an eine Beerdigung. Schlimmer Rahmen! Das Tag-Match von Rhodes & Co. Sting bekommt es mit absurden Gimmick-Schrott in einem unwürdigen Match zu tun. Die Konstellation aus den Hollywood Blondes und Steamboat und Douglas funktioniert einfach. So auch hier, nicht ganz leicht mit der Steel Cage-Stipulation, aber wird hier und da für ein paar gute Spots genutzt und ist bei der Chemie der Herren einfach unterhaltsam. Stu Hart anschließend mit einem schwierigen Auftritt bei Bischoff. Solides NWA World Heavyweight Title-Match zwischen zwei (ex) Vierteln der Four Horseman. Ganz gute Intensität, nettes Old School-Wrestling, aber im Endeffekt alles doch arg gewöhnlich, auch wenn der Champ ordentlich blutet. (***) DBS erarbeitet sich früh eine Glaubwürdigkeit als Herausforderer und landet ein paar starke Impact-Moves gegen Vader. Vader geht so wie auch zuletzt gegen Sting zunächst stark in die Defensive, während der Face-Herausforderer Hoffnung verkaufen darf. Die Story funktioniert, da beide in die Rollen gut reinpassen und Davey Boy immer wieder schöne Konter auf Lager hat, die bei Vader wirklich gut aussehen. Finish geht durch. (***1/4) Nett, wie Sting fast den Kameramann umrennt und so Vader viel zu lang doof im Ring herumstehen muss. Die letzten drei Matches retten eine schwache Eventidee."
[3.0] "Die einzigen Matches die ich gut fande waren die Tag Team Matches mit den Hollywood Blondes, sowie Rick Rude und Paul Orndorff. Aber diese waren auch nur oberes Mittelmaß. Der Rest war schrecklich. Allein diese Legends Matches mit den Altherren waren sehr einschlaf fördernd."
[4.0] "1. Opener war ein gutes Match. (3 1/2*) 2. Sid darf dann Van Hammer squashen. Was sein Outfit mit Heavy Metall zu tun hat weiß ich aber nicht. (o. W. ) 3 - 5 es folgen lahme Legenden Matches die kein Mensch braucht. 6. TT Match war dann wieder solide. Mehr aber auch nicht. (2*) 7. Sting gegen Prisoner war schlecht. Ich glaube The Prisoner hat hier sogar einen Wrestlingmove gezeigt. Unglaublich aber wahr. Das Finish war aber auch nicht einfallsreich. (1/4*) 8. Blondes gegen Hombres war dann wieder ein gutes Match. (3 1/4*) 9. NWA Heavyweight Championship Match war jetzt nicht so gut. Ähnlich wie gegen Muta enttäuscht auch dieses Match von Windham ein bisschen. (3*) 10. ME siehe Guide. Show war okay Die Legenden Matches hätte ich aber nicht gebraucht. Die ziehen die Gesamtwertung doch etwas hinunter. Doch noch um einiges besser als WM9 bei der Konkurrenz."
[9.0] "Benoit & Eaton/Scorpio & Bagwell is a great opener. Bagwell is a weak link but he is not too bad and the other three are fantastic. The return of Sid causes me to groan but the crowd popped I guess. The legends six man is actually decent, especially considering the age. Dick Murdoch especially looked shockingly good, better than many of the regular roster. The legends tag match is not that good, though it's nice to see Brad Armstrong. Paul Roma as a new Horseman isn't great, especially since they promised Tully would be there and then failed to deliver. Bockwinkel/Dory is shockingly excellent considering the age of both men, they get a standing ovation and they totally deserve it. Orndorff & Rude vs. Dustin and Sasaki is also excellent in a different way, just a good old fashioned heated tag. Sasaki was a surprising standout and very over with the crowd. Sting/Prisoner is bad, Sting needs a good dance partner to be worth much and it doesn't get a whole lot worse than Nailz. Tag match is excellent mainly for Austin taking some seriously insane bumps but there is some good heated action from everyone, despite the last minute decision to put Zenk under a mask and pretend he was Douglas. Arn/Windham is MOTY candidate in my eyes, they do such fantastic work in the time they have and both men are legends in their absolute prime. The main event is pretty great for some incredible power spots by Davey and the usual wonderful Vader crash and smash offense, despite the copout ending. Some of the legend stuff dragged but overall I really enjoyed this show."
[5.0] "The legends matches were terrible, Dory Funk Jr vs Bockwinkel lasted 15 minutes and it never delivered. The opening tag team match is one of the best matches, but the rest of the undercard and midcard is annoying. The final two matches are good, Vader vs British Bulldog is a great brawl, Anderson vs Windham isn't bad at all."
[4.0] "Alter Schwede, dass ist hier mal was für Nostalgiker. Wer sich eine Menge Legenden mindestens 20 Jahre nach ihrem Höhepunkt anschauen will, ist hier genau richtig. Will ich das sehen? Nein, ganz und gar nicht. Hätte ich die Leute in ihrer Prime erlebt wäre das was anderes, aber ich will auch nicht in 10 Jahren sehen wie Michael Jordan mit 60 bei den Chicago Bulls mitspielt. Man kann also die komplette erste Hälfte des Events bis auf den Opener komplett vergessen. Bis hierhin würde ich maximal 2 Punkte aus Respekt vor den früheren Leistungen der Wrestler geben. Danach wird es dann ein wenig besser. Allerdings ist das Booking an diesem Abend grauenvoll, so dass diverse gute bis brauchbare Matches durch schlechte Finishes ziemlich abgewertet werden (Main Event, Semi-Main Event). Einziges Match an dem ich nicht viel rumzumeckern habe ist das Tag Team Match im Käfig. Hier zeigen die Hollywood Blondes eine solide Leistung und gewinnen am Ende durch cheaten. So muss das sein. Schade, aber dieser Event ist leider absolut nicht zu empfehlen."
[5.0] "In terms of match quality, this wasn't one of WCW's stronger shows. The two World Title matches - Windham vs. Anderson and Davey Boy vs. Vader - both delivered, and the opening tag of Scorpio & Bagwell vs. Eaton & Benoit was pretty good. The Hollywood Blondes vs. "Dos Hombres" in the cage was alright, but kind of marred by the silly masked gimmick Steamboat and Z-Man had to do (and the announcers pretending Zenk was the already-fired Shane Douglas). Bockwinkel and Funk did what they could in the ring given their ages at the time, and their match was a decent example of the style of an era gone by, though the resulting draw was rather predictable given how it was played up as an NWA vs. AWA challenge. Overall, though, the nostalgia stuff was a nice idea, with a good number of legends making in-ring or non-wrestling appearances, and the Hall of Fame was handled in a classy manner. As far as "legends" shows go, you can certainly do far worse (Heroes of Wrestling, anyone? )."
[6.0] "Opener Benoit/Eaton vs. Scorpio/Bagwell (***3/5) also ganz ordentlich hat mich unterhalten. Sid Vicious vs. Van Hammer war genau richtig gebookt zum Comeback von Sid klar das es hier kein Technikfeuerwerk über 20 Minuten gibt (***3/5). Das erste Legends Match war zum vergessen (0/5) genauso auch das darauf folgende (0/5). Dory Funk vs. Bockwinkel war für daas Alter der beiden in Ordnung mehr aber auch nicht (**2/5). Tag Team Match Dustin Rhodes/Sasaki vs. Rude/Orndorff wäre in meinen Augen mehr möglich gewesen (**2/5). Sting vs. The Prisoner eine Frechheit das sich Sting mit so einem Match beschäftigen muss aber er rettet was zu retten ist gegen (Nailz) (*1/5). Das Cagematch zwischen Austin/Pillman vs. Steamboat/Z-Man hätte ein Klassiker werden können leider zu langatmig gebookt die erste Hälfte des Matches und vor allem was sollen diese schwachsinnigen Maskierungen man setzt hier zwei seiner Top Wrestler zum damaligen Zeitpunkt ein und setzt ihnen Masken auf dennoch gerade noch (***3/5). Windham vs. Anderson das beste was ich bis dahin von Windham gesehen habe (****4/5). Bulldog vs. Vader hat mir ebenfalls sehr gut gefallen klar es war nicht Bulldog vs. Bret Hart sondern eine ganz andere Ansetzung aber auch hier zeigte der Bulldog was er drauf hatte (****4/5). Gelungene Veranstaltung mit zwei besseren Matches und zwei passablen Matches der Rest war leider eher zum vergessen."
[5.0] "Das war keine schöne Show. Hätte es nur die letzten drei Matches gegeben, wäre es eine sehr schöne Großveranstaltung gewesen. Aber leider gab es noch viel, viel mehr. Und das zog sich teilweise unfassbar lang. Nach dem hervorragenden letzten PPV ein ganz großer Rückschritt für die Promotion aus Atlanta."
[6.0] "Ordentlicher PPV. Plus: Bulldog-Vader und die beiden Tag Team Matches. Minus: Die legenden Kämpfe (laaaangweilig), Sting-Nailz (wahrscheinlich das schlechteste Sting Match in der Geschicht)."
[5.0] "Bis zu den letzten drei Matches verpasst man wirklich nichts beim ersten Slamboree. Gerade die ersten beiden Legends-Matches sind nichts besonderes, Bockwinkel gegen Funk Jr. ist sehr, nennen wir es mal "klassisch", bis am Ende dann doch ein bisschen Schwung und Klasse reinkommt. Sting/Prisoner kann man eigentlich skippen, das Tag Match davor ist ganz passabel. Sieht man von der Maskierung von Zenk und Steamboat ab, ist das Steel Cage Tag Match dann endlich mal gewohntes Niveau. Kein Klassiker, aber gut. Windham/Anderson ist recht kurz für ein NWA World Title Match, dafür aber intensiv und toll gemacht. Vader/Bulldog ist dann Match of the Night und ebenfalls sehr ordentlich, auch wenn es nicht an die Sting/Vader Matches heranreicht. Insgesamt aber wirklich kein besonders erwähnenswerter PPV. Die HoF Induction und die letzten drei Matches sollte man sich zu Gemüte führen, den Rest kann man getrost ignorieren."
[5.0] "Slamboree 93 was the first Slamboree that WCW had and this was not a very spectacular one in my opinion. I liked the opening tag match with 2 Cold Scorpio & Bagwell vs. Eaton & Benoit, I liked how Sid Vicious came back to WCW with Col. Rob Parker managing and introducing him as Van Hammer's opponent that night, the WCW Hall of Fame inductions by Gordon Solie were cool, and we had 2 pretty good main event matches for the NWA and the WCW world titles, but that was pretty much it. The 2 first legends matches were mediocre but then again, what do you expect when you see legends wrestling as old as they were at that point. I actually thought Dory Funk Jr. vs. Nick Bockwinkel was pretty ok for the most part, but it seemed like the crowd could care less through so much of it and I don't blame them. The tag title cage match, I would much rather watch Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas wrestle the Hollywood Blondes as just themselves, but if WCW hadn't fired Shane at that point, they wouldn't have had Z-Man replace him and had both Z-Man & Steamboat wearing stupid masks and attires but whatever. Last but not least, it was weird to see Sting being the huge star that he was in WCW back then be thrown into a match with Nailz of all people, but at least we got to see him in an altercation with Vader after the main event match ended. Larry Zbyszko was great on commentary throughout the whole night, but not even he could've bettered what was an ok at best PPV unfortunately."
