[3.0] "I thought going into this that maybe I was too hard on this show but I see the average rating is a little lower than mine so now I feel justified. This show fucking sucks, and have the aura of that it's cursed. This is after Ric Flair couldn't come to terms with WCW and his presence is really missed on this show. This show holds some records for me as not only the worst WCW PPV I've seen so far but holds the record for the most zero star matches (one of them the last match on this show which I can't rate) I've awarded a show with 3. There was actually a couple matches I managed to enjoy in this heap of crap; the Rock N' Roll implosion and Russian Chain matches respectively. Barry Windham had my MVP performance of the night, while I was really unhappy to see One Man Gang. I recommend watching this one because I had to watch this so join me in the misery."

Until the last 3 matches, the crowd was dead but I did not really notice them trying to hijack the show. I will give WCW credit in that they are clearly trying to make new guys, it is just those guys are trash. I actually thought the Russian Chain match was best of the night but that is not saying an awful lot."

[2.0] "Now, here's what I'll say - is this a bad show? Absolutely. Is it an all-timer of a disaster? That I am less certain of. The pall of Ric Flair's recent firing certainly hangs over it, though, and it adds a grim and sometimes actively antagonistic atmosphere as the fans go to war with management, with the poor wrestlers caught in the middle. Not that many of them do much to impress. Pretty much every match on the show is bad, with Windham-Luger being the only exception that I'd call "above average." It's a solid and well-worked NWA-style title match that does a decent job of overcoming the crowd hostility, but certainly isn't an all-time great, and is itself marred with the weird double-turn-that-doesn't-feel-like-one. Aside from that, we have a truly dire scaffold match, Sting shackled literally and figuratively in a Russian chain match slapping corners, incredibly green Scott Hall and Kevin Nash and Johnny B. Badd being dire, Brian Pillman working under a stupid hood, Morton and Gibson working an interminably long hurt knee match, and El Gigante. Just. El Gigante. So yeah, it's a really, really bad show. Oh, and they put a weird mixed-tag match in the finale, that Rick Steiner wins by himself in two minutes, which takes all the wind out of what should be a good final match. Horrible. Watch it only if you want to see a car crash - other than that, skip to just the Heavyweight title match, if you have to watch something."

[2.0] "There were a couple of ok matches here - the six-man tag was decent enough, as was Luger vs Windham until the perplexing ending. Morton vs Gibson went maybe a bit too long, but was solid and also interesting considering it was two long-time tag partners facing off. But there's really not much to recommend here. Badd and Pillman would have a far better match at Fall Brawl '95. As silly as the gimmick was, the entrance Oz got was legitimately very cool for the time. Every time I see a scaffold match makes me hope that gimmick match is dead - way too much risk for matches that are never any good. The issues with the show couldn't all be helped - they had to scramble to salvage the main event after Flair's departure - but the end result of that, along with the other matches that weren't affected by that situation, all add up to a pretty bad event."

There isn't a single recommended match, Luger vs Windham is one bad match, with fans annoyed for Flair going to WWF. The Scaffold match is horrible, and many matches are boring. Hall vs Z-Man is okay, Morton vs Gibson is too long but watchable. The 3 vs 3 another acceptable match. Bad event, not recommended but not so terrible."

[8.0] "Ludicrously maligned event, the only mach that is truly flat out bad is the scaffold match, because it's barely even a match and needlessly dangerous. But honestly, most of the card is either ok or just bizarre, but I don't hate on bizarre matches because sometimes they are what makes wrestling fun. I would maybe understand the low ranking if there wasn't a good match to make up for it, but the title match is actually quite good in my opinion, a fact that gets forgotten perhaps because of the whole Flair situation. Flair threw a tantrum one too many times and got fired, so I can't honestly feel too sorry for the guy, and WCW did what they could to make up for it with an exciting title match. Windham especially looked great, he was doing headstand escape attempts, flipping out of the Rack, and did a legit RVD style diving kick off the top, stuff that is way ahead of it's time. The crowd also popped big for Luger finally winning the belt, I don't think it was clear to them that Luger turned heel yet, and in retrospect they should have probably kept him face to capitalize on his popularity, which was pretty substantial at the time. It also should have gone on last, but the final tag match is a good bit of fun, Heyman's stooging and bumping is stupendous. So yeah, not at all the greatest event ever but far from the worst!"

[1.0] "Honestly, when you watch The Great American Bash 1991 in its entirety, you'll feel like you wasted hours of your life that you'll never get back. That's exactly how I feel about this show. This was one of THE worst wrestling PPV's I've ever seen in my entire life. Almost all of the matches on this card pretty much sucked all-around and this PPV was horribly booked as well. Besides the fact that scaffold matches are very dangerous, now I see why we don't have them anymore cause they're boring as well. This was obviously not a great opener by any means. The six man elimination tag match had a good ending with Dustin Rhodes kicking Big Daddy Dink off the apron while giving Badstreet a bulldog, but besides that, this match wasn't good. Even though the Russian chain match between Sting and Nikita Koloff wasn't that great, I thought it was good for what it was and I consider it to be an overall Great American Bash moment if anything, and I don't know who in WCW thought it would be a good idea to book the tag team steel cage match last! I mean Lex Luger vs. Barry Windham had a bad and confusing ending by having Harley Race come down with Mr. Hughes and telling Lex to piledrive Barry and getting the win, but this match was good enough to be the last match on the card and it's a no-brainer to put these guys for the world title on last! Instead the crowd went home with a main event that lasted 2 minutes and apparently could not have gone on before the world title match! Way to go WCW!"

Gesamt: 2, 36."
