326.08.2016jboyaquar7.0Tourney only: Of the innumerable gimmicks that come/go/stay within the excess that is DDT wrestling I'm very much a fan of how Ishikawa has been booked as embittered D Sasaki's pet dog as among his people Shuji indeed naturally comes off as a Great Bernard. Today was the dog's, the indie stalwart's crowning day as his place in the Ryogoku main event, and as prey to DDT's Okada, Takeshita, was secured by his two victories over two hard-charging upstarts. Of his two matches I appreciated the clean execution of the semi-final as Irie had a focused attack of employing his recently acquired 'Tazmission' to wear the bigger man down. However, too many knee lifts did their damage, and I was out of contention to be King. (I truly hope a stateside/Canadian indie takes a chance on him as he's quite adept at providing an emotional canvas and texture throughout his wrestling journey. ) Endo is also an over-achiever and has ambition to be a spectacular performer, but he can't keep making mistakes taking a viewer out-of-the-match. Case-in-point: E slips up on-the-ropes trying to hit a moonsault on the barely dazed SI, who has to wait even longer for Endo to connect with his spot. Of course as a longtime watcher of the substance within DDT's product, (pecking order in DDT is more obvious than one would think with such a wild fed, ) the only way E was going to reach the finals was through a fluke-y pin on the standard-bearer, Harashima, and it was with E avoiding a Somato and cradling H.
