310.12.2017Paul Allain2.0Very very weak show. The opener had nothing special, except for giving Silas Young another win. The midcard squash was outright boring, as Martinez next to no discernable personality or good offense. The main event was as dry as you could imagine, and Adaml Page sticks like a sore thumb in this position. The only notable thing that happened was the excellent promo by Christopher Daniels. This show was an hour long advertisement for All Star Extravaganza VII, holding next to no interest by itself with matches that mattered none.
402.10.2016jboyaquar5.0C Daniels is a survivor and a very intelligent performer, but his promo this week was all sorts of 'what's wrong with ROH. ' A weakness I have perceived through almost seventeen years of watching 'The Fallen Angel' was that everything he did or said came off like a work. However, this week on ROH TV he delivered his best ever promo remarking on his age, the uncertainty of his future without a championship and his inability to do anything in life as well as he wrestles. The truth notwithstanding, this was hearty, gripping stuff and I now am absolutely behind his character and team as I will watch the PPV from Lowell later tonight. There's just one problem; Dude, you're a heel. Over the past 18 months or so you've cheated your way into two long tag title runs despite never being over. Certainly his promo built up the ladder war in that I'm now more interested in watching the presentation, but he did it at the expense of two other teams one of which is far more over, responsibile for selling much more merchandise and tickets, and is still a part of the zeitgeist whereas The Addiction still holds belts three years after they were cool. I never want to see Yano ever in a ring again but at least Corino did a good job in nailing the essence of Y's success with the gimmick: he's MMA-trained so legit dangerous but counteracts that by being a comedian. Not paying attn to the match at all, O'Reilly failed to persuade me that the world title means more to him than beating up A Cole.
Punisher Martinez squasht Cheeseburger. Der ME war sehr solide. Zum Ende einen letzten Staredown zwischen Cole & Elgin. Insgesamt sind das dann 3, 67 von 10 Punkten - 'ausreichend'.
727.09.2016GaryOak695.0Toru Yano is fantastic, and his match with Silas Young was entertaining. The BJ Whitmer/Sullivan/Corino angle is unbearable. Martinez is garbage. The headlining tag match was also entertaining but the outcome was predictable and Page has nowhere near the star power of Cole, Tana, or Elgin.
