The elimination match was a bit messy and confusing at points but was still pretty fun, if not a tad too long. There's a Nana squash match and a mediocre tag before we reach the 2 best matches of the show in Eddie vs Super Crazy and the main event. Eddie vs Crazy was really short, but packed with super fluid and fast paced action which the crowd were really into and the main event was just insanely good. Despite only being like 2 years into each of their careers, Dragon and Low Ki both looked incredible, and along with the veteran Daniels, they crafted a really fluid and versatile 3 way match which ended the show on a high note. A decent show overall, but idk it's a bit underwhelming considering that this is the first show of one of the greatest indie promotions of all time. Only matches I'd recommend are the co-main and main event. Everything else is skippable. |

A lot of the people and characteristics that would define ROH are present from the very first show, guys like Jay Briscoe, Xavier and Homicide in the undercard, the main event, the style of wrestling being presented throughout, etc. However, there are some points where the fact that this is a new promotion in the early 2000s slaps up in the face (the entirety of the opening segment, for example) and it's jarring to see that under the ROH banner. One of the main problems with this is the lack of experience on the card, there are a lot of people either still in training or only a few years into their career. This may not be a problem for the prodigies like Danielson and Low Ki, but for a lot of other guys on this card it's obvious they need serious seasoning. Unless you want to watch ROH's first show to see what it was like, I would recommend sticking with the main and co-main |

There is a bit of that, but as a whole it is a solid show in the time where in ring product of US has become dilluted and muddled. Most of the roster is green, but try very hard and come up with worthwhile and fun matches. Beyond the badly aged opening match/segment and a few shorter matches that don't really hurt the show too much, the card delivers with fun, snappy and quick affairs. The true stand outs (aside from Eddie Guerrero who was taking a sabbatical from WWE at the time) are the trio of American Dragon, Christopher Daniels and Low Ki. The three people that ROH will be building most of their shows around in the near future, and who could blame them. The trio stands head and shoulders above their peers at that time. American Dragon shocking the world as a 20yo prodigy that kept racking up classics under his belt. Low Ki as the hard hitting badass. Christopher Daniels as the earliest pure heel of the promotion. They pull of a fantastic triple threat that makes the show. The show is a pretty good start for the promotion. |

Then it's the main event, which is an absolute must see, all three guys are so good here and their offence just looks great with hard strikes and so many fun and unique spots. As others have mentioned, the promos aren't very good and as much as I am a Steve Corino fan, the commentary is awful. The most puzzling match of the card was probably the opening tag. The CSC's gimmick does NOT age well, and it was a really bizarre choice for this to be the first ever match of a promotion that's supposed to value wrestling over sports entertainment. Red vs Briscoe was pretty decent, and Xavier vs Andrews was okay. It's crazy to look back and see how solid Briscoe already was at 18 years old. The next few matches were eh... the 6 way match was a little fun and Prince Nana is entertaining. The last tag team match was okay, but Spanky and Shane were clearly the standouts. It's still crazy to me how Shane never became a star, I thought he had huge potential. Eddie Guerrero vs Super Crazy was a very good match, and very cool to see how much respect the crowd gave them, especially Eddie. There's not much more I can say about the main event that hasn't already been said. Again, looking back, if you asked me which of these 3 I would've pegged to become the mega star, it would have been Christopher Daniels (not taking anything away from Bryan Danielson's ability). Great diversity in the match, all 3 guys are very different, but talented enough to make it fantastic. Ultimately, it's a decent show. I would recommend going out of your way to watch the last two matches if you can find them, especially the main event. |

Das Opening Match ist schon gleich so ein Tiefpunk, Da Hit Squad squashen die Christopher Street Conection, die mit dem schwulen Gimmick auftreten und deshalb ausgebuht werden? Furchtbar reaktionär sowohl von der Crowd als auch vom Booking her. Amazing Red vs Briscoe war okay und uach Xavier vs Andrews war mittelmäßig. Die beiden Matches danach sind auch nicht der Rede wert und man merkt recht bald, dass das volle Potential und die besten Wrestler für den ME aufgehoben wurden. Nach einigen Lückenfüller Matches, die eigentlich auch alle recht schnell abgehackt werden, kommt dann nämlich wieder ein Highlight mit dem Debut von Eddie Guerrero bei ROH gegen Super Crazy, der in diesem Match den IWA Puerto Rico IC Title gewinnt. Das Match ist nicht besser als solide, was auch an der kurzen Zeit liegt, aber die Crowdreaction auf Eddie war natürlich sehr stark. Was die Show aber durchaus sehenswert macht ist der ME, der Threeway Dance zwischen Low Ki, American Dragon und Christopher Daniels. Die drei wohl talentiertesten Wrestler des Rosters und drei, die im Laufe der Jahre auch Main Eventer blieben und weitere großartige Matches worken werden liefern hier ein unglaubliches Debutmatch ab. Welche andere Liga hat in ihrer ersten Show schon so ein geniales Match, allein von den drei Namen her, drei der größten Indy Wrestler ever, ist das schon ein genialer ME. Dieses Match sollte jeder gesehen haben. Den Rest kann man sich zum Großteil zugegeben aber doch schenken, weshalb The Era Of Honor begins, zwar ein solider Start ist, aber nicht über 6 Punkte hinauskommt. |

Xavier vs Scoot Andrews was pretty decent. It didn't stand out much to me. It was not bad but wasn't that great. The main event was awesome and was quite worthy of the main event of the first ever ROH show. It goes without saying that it was the best match on the show. The worst match however was the first match and it was really bad and really pointless. One other thing was that the crowd was really great throughout the show and there were many points when they gave standing ovations. Some examples were a few points in Jay Briscoe vs Amazing Red when he hit a Fisherman's buster and the Jay Driller. Other moments as stated before were the introduction of Eddie Guerrero and many moments in the main event. |

The main-event identity of ROH was mapped out brilliantly, but of course the undercard needed a lot of work to really get to a later standard. The Christopher Street Connection-Da Hit Squad to start us off though, and you'd be forgiven for turning the show off right there and then. Godawful bigot stuff with hideous commentary and a lower-tier ECW feel of being stiff and unlikeable but not actually good. The rest of the undercard is alright with glimpses of Jay Briscoe and Amazing Red, as well as a good Eddie Guerrero match and a great promo from him later putting the company over. But the show is all about Daniels, Low Ki and American Dragon. No big company would've put those guys at the top of the card with no smoke and mirrors, it made the hype justifiable and the company has only grown since. |

Man von all den Wrestler die da dabei waren sind nur Jay & Mark Briscoe und Christopher Daniels aktuell bei ROH alle anderen sind weg. Die Matches gingen von DUD bis Weltklasse. Für mich waren Jay Briscoe vs Amazing Red (***), Co Main Event (***1/4) und der Main Event (****3/4) zu dem mehr im Guide die besten Matches bei diesen ROH Event. Für mich ein, 9 Punkte Event nicht nur wegen des Main Event sondern auch wegen manche Matches, dem Crowd und den Kommentatoren. |

Und da habe ich mir für den Anfang RoH ausgesucht und versuche da die Events nachzuholen in der zeitlichen Reihenfolge. The Era of Honor begins, erster Event von Ring of Honor und es ist nicht die Beste Art und Weise zu beginne. Die Show hatte ihre höhen aber auch vieles, was eher meh war. Das erste Segment/ Match war natürlich absoluter Bullshit, gerade die Darstellung bzw. der Umgang mit der CSC und dem ausbuhen wegen der "Homosexualität ist einfach scheiße und geht gar nicht. Es folgen ein paar Matches, die zwischen gut und okay liegen. Briscoe gegen Red war gut auch Andrews gegen Xavier, das TT-Match hat mir nicht so gut gefallen, auch wenn ich Homicide mag. Danach das Elimination Match oder eher Spot-Fest. Sehr unübersichtlich und anstrengend zu gucken. Danach Squash. Das Tag Team danach war wieder okay, liegt aber auch an Spanky, denn ich auch mag. Eddie und Crazy enttäuschen eher beide hätten hier ein viel bessere Match zeigen können. Der Main Event war am Ende natürlich hervorragend und super, aber so etwas kann man erwarten, bei den Drei im Ring. |

Dass man sich zu diesem Zweck auch noch ein Team wie die Christopher Street Connection ausgesucht hat und im Anschluss eine Frau durch einen Tisch befördert, ist nicht unbedingt im Dienste von Toleranz und Weltoffenheit und als Eröffnungssegment der ersten Veranstaltung einer neuen Promotion höchst unglücklich gewählt (0/10). Das Wrestling kommt dann im kurzen aber knackigen Match zwischen Red vs. Brisco (8/10), ebenso bei Xavier vs. Andrews (8/10). Die etwas härtere Gangart geht dann das folgende Tag-Team-Match, das Finish ist allerdings bekloppt (7/10), zumindest unterstützt das Post-Match-Segment das Gimmick der Natural Born Sinners sehr gut (+1). Ultimate Aerial: trotz vieler Botches noch sehr ordentlich (8/10). Prince Nana macht kurzen Prozess (o. W. ). Ziemlicher Overkill und nicht optimale Dramaturgie im anschließenden Tag-Team-Match, aber dafür ist das Ganze von der Ausführung her sehr viel besser als das Ultimate Aerial (8/10). Super Crazy und EddieGuerrero sind sicher die prominentesten Namen auf der Card, vor diesem Hintergrund enttäuscht das gute, aber doch etwas langweilige Match (7/10). Der ME ist natürlich ein absoluter Klassiker und ein würdiger Abschluss des ersten ROH-Events (11/10). Gesamt: 7, 25. |

Das Tempo war hoch und die Spots cool (* * *) Der Main Event ist simpel fantastisch und war das Match, das die Messlatte für Ring of Honor so hoch legte (* * * * 1/2) AUfgrund der Bedeutung gibt es noch eine zusätzliche Aufwertung, insgesamt 7 Punkte. |

Aber paßte ganz gut um noch mal klar zu stellen das man nicht entertainet sonder wrestlet. Mit Briscoe gegen Red dann auch gleich ein gutes schnelles Match hinterher. Auch Xavier gegen Andrews ist ordentlich. Schönes Wrestling wie man es gerne sieht. Knights gegen Sinners dann so lala. Aber dafür gibts für den Ref noch einen drauf der kurz darauf am Telefon seinen Kumpel (DeVito) zur nächsten Show ruft. Das Elimination Match ist natürlich recht spotty aber auch ganz ok wenn man von Brian XL mal absieht der einiger Patzer drin hat. Nana gegen den Towel Boy auch nicht der Rede wert. Das Match der TWA fand ich dafür wieder ganz ok. Alle 4 mit einer ordentlichen Leistung und der verdiente Sieg für Spanky. Guerrero gegen Crazy auch soweit in Ordnung auch wenn Guerrero weit von seiner Topform weg ist. Aber dafür bei der Crowd over wie sonst was. Red/Briscoe, der Six Man Mayhem und Crazy/Guerrero sind zwar durchaus sehr unterhaltsam, aber auch nichts wirklich weltbewegendes. Und der Rest ist nicht erwähnenswert und kann schnell vergessen werden. Daher "nur" gute Show. |

Geschichtsträchtig wie keine andere Show (ok, es gibt da noch Wrestlemania), einfach dadurch, dass sie den Grundstein für meine Lieblingsliga gesetzt hat. Matches wie Nummer 1, 4 und 6 kann man zwar vergessen, aber Red vs. Briscoe, Das Six Man oder Crazy vs. Guerrero waren durchaus klasse. Und da war natürlich noch der Main Event, eine so klasse Action hat man lange nicht gesehen (siehe meine Matchbewertung). Also wirklich eine gute Show. |

Die meisten Matches waren ein wenig falsch gebookt, konnten aber auf kurze Zeit schon überzeugen und ließen sehen was für ein tolles Produkt ROH werden sollte. 1 unfassbar starkes Match und 2 sehr gute Matches retten den ersten ROH Event und lassen ihn keinesfalls vergessen. Der Event bekommt insgesamt 5, 5 von 10 Punkten von mir. |

Addiert man dazu die Wichtiogkeit der Show für das Wrestling und den Einfluss den der Main Event hatte, kann man wohl eine 1(-) geben. |
