315.06.2025notanotherone3.0Only familiar with his work while he was at WWF, but he never impressed me there. Watching back all the old Attitude era PPVs, his matches ranged from just about acceptable to genuinely terrible. The less said about that Kennel from Hell match, the better!

1913.11.2024benny5bellys6.0No one ever stopped to think about what a weird name Big Boss Man is. Not only was he called that but he was taken seriously too. I miss the days when he had a little dainty hat and would forget to catch Jim Cornette falling off scaffolding. I always liked him early days and in WWF, avoid his work in WCW like the plague. Guardian Angel was crap. Never let him look after your dog.

3014.07.2024Open The Vault6.0What can I say about The Big Boss Man. He was a popular character for the WWF whenever he was a face or a heel. He's went by other names like Ray Traylor, Big Bubba Rogers or The Guardian Angel. He's worked the WWF, NWA, WCW, AJPW, NJPW & USWA. He's been all over the world and I'll give him props to that. Bossman was really good at being a heel which can be showcased during his feuds with Al Snow or The Big Show. He had the charisma but when it comes to in-ring action...It's hit or miss. He was alright in his early years and slowly degressed into the Attitude Era and early Ruthless Aggression era. He sadly passed in 2004 and his mark in wrestling won't be forgotten.

3808.03.2024gijoe6.0Fun worker as a heel or babyface who left an impression regardless of where he was working on the card. A big man who used his face to express well to entertain I've never seen his Japan work, but enjoyed him more in the earlier years stateside as things got weird towards the end. He had some memorable lines on the mic, but wasn't an ace by any means. Still, he was a fixture of the 90s wrestling scene and I appreciate guys who worked different companies like he did
3917.02.2024WhatIsLooveee8.0Much of Ray's career has been associated with the image of either a bodyguard or a servant of order, but that said, he hasn't been the same character all along, he's been constantly changing. First he was a silent bodyguard who, according to Jim Cornette's stories, never left the character even outside the ring, if he knew that fans could see him, then he was a friendly cop, and after a brief run in WCW he came back as a completely unprincipled brutal cop who became perhaps the most amoral character of the Attitude Era. Aside from trying to fully inhabit his personas, he was also very agile for a big guy. He had a number of impressive matches both in America and during his trips to Japan. "Working" gimmicks rarely worked, but Ray was becoming a notable iconic figure in the companies, becoming a popular mid/upper mid-carder.

4106.01.2024All Cops Are Bossman6.0Vince knows his working class audience and that the default for police officers are heels (see also: The Mountie). If you've ever wanted to watch the four pillars beat up a cop, look up his AJPW matches.

5026.09.2023andytuga868.0"The Big Bossman" was one of the best Gimmicks in the early 1980s/late 1990s. He was good both as a Heel and Face, in his first WWE run. Very agile for his size, could move like a cat, and had tones of charisma. Not so great in the Attitute Era, with some lame angles and feuds in the mix.

("Steuerfahnder" Mike Rotunda) danach fand ich schlecht, egal ob Henry O. Godwinn /Phineas Godwinn (Schweinefarmer), Duke "The Dumpster" Droese (Müllmann), NASCAR-FAHRER
5416.08.2023MattHall9.0Woah was he a big guy or what? I like his 1980s work the best. I remember seeing him walking through an NWA or WWF ring and was blown away just how freaking large he was. Big Bubba Rogers or Big Bossman was awesome. I liked his theme songs as well. Matches with Barry Windham, Hulk Hogan, The Mountie, and Dusty Rhodes are worth watching. RIP Ray Traylor

5624.07.2023Gold Fists7.0I think his first gimmick was pretty nice and got him decently over with the fans. Big Boss Man was a reliable powerhouse at times and had some memorable or funny feuds. He gets points off for his terrible run in the Attitude Era, which never should have happened due to the overly violent and downright disgusting angles it produced.
5727.06.2023crs2857.0Bossman at times in his career was a star. Think his in-ring skills got better as time went on until. His mic skills were good and he had a very good gimmick for the time. His bad matches are more memorable (Kennel from Hell & His Hell in a Cell with the Undertaker) than his good ones which hurts his legacy.
5826.05.2023Giantfan19807.0Bubba's best years were 1989-1992 as the Big Boss Man. Very few big guy wrestlers were as fast and agile as he was. Had the charisma and was good on the mic too. Went back to WCW and bounced around the lower midcard in different gimmicks before going back to the WWF for one more run as the Bossman. Of all the guys never to get the IC title, he should be in the top 3. Bossman SHOULD have beaten Perfect at Mania 7 for the title after chasing him for months, then they could have done a title switch back to Perfect when the Mountie interfered, thus kicking off THAT feud!

6121.03.2023Hermansson 10/10 Big boss man was (in my opinion) the greatest big man of all time. Awesome and humble guy with a badass gimmick.
6229.01.2023CMFunk0076.0I remember first seeing this guy as Big Bubba Rogers, the bodyguard for Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express, in Jim Crockett Promotions. He made an impact in the WWF as The Big Boss Man when he handcuffed and beat Hulk Hogan with his nightstick. His run with Akeem as The Twin Towers was great, as was his position in the Mega-Powers storyline. Later, he would turn babyface and feud with The Mountie, Bobby Heenan, and Ted DiBiase. He'd go back to WCW as Bubba Rogers and later his real name Ray Traylor in an uneventful run. Then, he'd show up in WWF again as Vince McMahon's enforcer against Steve Austin. Sadly he would pass away in 2004. He had a good run during his career, his peak year from 1988-1993 in the WWF. But he was a great big man, one of the best in the business and he will be missed.

7623.05.2022Conquistador378.0I liked him as Jim Cornette's bodyguard. He was AWESOME as The Big Boss Man, both as a heel and babyface. In fact, it was during his babyface Boss Man run that he hit his career peak. One of the best big men in the business with few his size who could match his speed and savvy. Quick on his feet, quick with his hands and precision point timing. However... His WCW run was hit or miss depending on the week or month. With a babyface start, things seemed to be working out; his matches against Vader were surprisingly not awful. Quickly though, he reverted back to the "Big Bubba" name and proceeded to hit a long stride of borderline unwatchable garbage prior to joining the nWo; some very dire stuff against John Tenta. As a member of the nwo, he was one of many representing the fact that they were being watered down. Had a fun comeback as The Big Boss Man, being Vince McMahon's evergreen henchman. But it was obvious he just couldn't go like he used to. Died at an unfortunately young age, but I do feel his in ring career was indeed over by then. Chemistry with loads, but avoid matches against The Barbarian & the John Tenta feud (in fact most of his WCW work is rather bad). When on top of his game, he's OUTSTANDING! But when uninspired, things could be treacherously terrible. 7.5 rounded up.

9216.04.2021AnB5.0Big Boss Man was honestly fine. Prime example of a completely wasted talent in the WCW, where was the +1 for the Steiner Brothers and wasn't much more than a jobber.
9425.01.2021Brett19804.0As Big Bubba and then his early Big Boss man stuff was not bad. Seemed to get tired really easily. WCW stuff was bad. Came back to WWF as Vinces security guard but then was bad again.

9910.08.2020JEK 19919.0Great wrestler especially for his size. Even though he had a big pot he could run very well in the ring. Great at the mic and in ring psychology. Had many great feuds with Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, Sting, Big Show, Undertaker, Al Snow and Stone Cold. He was great at both a babyface and a heel which not many wrestlers can do. Some of the gimmicks like Guardian Angel and Big Bubba Rogers were crappy. WCW made him look horrible as a jobber. He was up and down in the high, mid and low card status. Some times appeared in main events. The SWAT gimmick was ok. The Kennel Form Hell match was shitty. He eventually fought in the Hardcore division which made him go down hill. In 2002 in WWE(F) he was not as good as before. Even though he died during his career he was phenomenal. He deserved to be in the WWE Hall of Fame.
10012.06.2020Khalid Ace3.0He wasn't so bad, I didn't like his gimmick & I don't find anything impressive about him & his work got worse & worse over the years.
