[9.0] "One of the best talkers in the history of the business and a key player in 80s wrestling as a manager. Helped Snuka, who was an amazing physique, good wrestling and total *** talker get over, as well as others just starting. Albano is basically the template for guys like Paul Heyman. Then the Rock n Wrestling Connection and in between a host of others. Very good wrestler but most people have only seen stuff from when he was managing and wearing the rubberbands on his face which starts around when he's 55 or so or on "Super Mario Bros" or "Wise Guys" as "Frank the Fixer" when he's probably about 60 or so. How many wrestlers look good at 55 or 60? Google "The Sicilians" heel team in the early 1960s for an idea of the guy in his prime as a wrestler. There's a reason all the boys respected him. He used to be a good wrestler and he was always a good talker. Also, he was Italian and by all accounts a decent guy who treated his family well."

He blew up in 1985 after getting into a feud with Cyndi Lauper and then getting clobbered over the head by Roddy Piper, as well as appearing in Lauper's video with the Goonies cast. Then, he managed The British Bulldogs the last couple of years before retiring. He later appeared as Mario in the Super Mario Brothers Super Show, but was far too old by that point to be believable in that role for me. Decent manager, but never saw him in his prime."

[3.0] "Ranting unintelligible annoying SLOB who didn't help the people he managed in any positive way. I loved Super Mario Brothers though. EDIT! I finally found it: If you have the WWE Network or Peacock, go to All Star Wrestling Season 10 Episode 33 / August 16th 1980. About 37 minutes in. Rick Martel vs Jose Estrada, Lou is at ringside for unknown reasons. Some grandpa from the audience starts swinging (and connecting) at Albano with a wooden chair. Lou then waylays gramps as security swarms in. HILARIOUS. career highlight! Must watch! 1 full point added for this moment in history, even though it was the old timer that did all the work and carried the Captain to something compelling."

I am not rating him higher because it feels like he never say his full potential. He was also mostly known for his looks alone more than any psychology he brought to the role. I wish we could have seen more of Albano."
