[9.0] "Amazing Old School Southern Brawl. Dustin Sprinting to the Ring and flying across the Top Rope established the great Action that about to come and the never really slowed down. Dustin had a really great Performance!"
[9.0] "This was so beast lol. Bloody, violent, the way how the crowd was going crazy for whatever Dustin was doing to bunkhouse bunk. Dustin was very good, probably one of the more underrated wrestlers in history. It's good to see he's still going strong today"
[8.0] "Another match on this show that caught me by surprise. I thought that they would be suffering from following so many good matches already, but no, they were still able to get the crowd to scream their lungs out. Dustin was a phenomenal babyface at the time and this match was the prime example of how fantastically he was able to interact with the fans, showing tons of charisma and intensity. Golden was a veteran here, so even though he didn't look impressive physically he knocked the psychological aspect of the match out of the park, reminding me a lot of Terry Funk. Also Rhodes got a phenomenal blade job that added a lot to the imagery of the contest, plus some of the false finishes were really got me."
[6.0] "Solid bloody brawl here. Reminds me of a Mid South brawl from the 80's in some ways. Dustin blades like he was prone to doing in these big ppv matches which would lead to him getting canned at Uncensored 95 because WCW was getting too kid friendly."
[8.0] "Dustin Rhodes was starting to become stale as his cowboy gimmick was beaten to death, especially in WCW. But this little feud with Bunkhouse Buck gave him some new life."
[7.0] "An old fashioned southern brawl including the cowboy boot. This alternated between being utterly great and a bit boring. By the end the crowd were well up for it. Shame Dustin made himself look like an idiot when he had Bunkhouse pinned but got up to fight Col. Parker who was miles away and would not have been able to break the pin."
[8.0] "This was a bloody brawl with plenty of fun old-school gimmicks to keep the action fresh. They use cowboy boots, belts, and powder on each other. These two used all the old tricks and gimmicks from decades previously and brought them into the 90s without it feeling like a corny throwback. Dustin kicks this one off by launching all 6ft 6 of him from the elevated walkway into the ring onto Buck. I'm not sure of the magic behind them, but Dustin's punches have a nice oomph sound behind them. Buck sells tremendously for Dustin, staggering around and falling like a tree toppling over. Dustin is the first to bleed after Buck nails him with a bit of wood after Dustin wipes himself out after missing a cross body. Once Dustin makes his comeback, the match is basically an extended squash of Buck until Buck is able to get some assistance from Parker and steal the victory by using a concealed weapon."
[5.0] "These two had a decent brawl, one that was highlighted by Rhodes doing a blade job that would have made his father proud. The production team, though, were doing their best, at first, to avoid showing Rhodes' face being the proverbial crimson mask, but they gave up after a while. Of note is that Tony Schiavone got ahead of himself on the finish, and started talking about Buck having a weapon in his hand several minutes before it actually happened."
[5.0] "Another match from WCW's 1994 Spring Stampede which I thought was painfully mediocre. This was yet another match heavily focussed around awkward brawling and hardcore spots. Bunkhouse Buck was a total joke. He looked totally out of place, had no interesting aspects to his character, and no interesting offence. What I find hilarious then is that he looked so similar to Kenny Omega. How can someone look so similar to one of the greatest current wrestlers in the world yet be so far away from his skill level? Jokes aside now, I thought Dustin was actually very good and carried this match to at least an acceptable level. He was full of energy and was desperate to expend it right from before the match began. He sold Buck's bad offence well and got nice hope spots. He was great at rallying the crowd behind him and performed his brawling and hardcore spots well, though he didn't perform anything too innovative. The finish with Buck getting assitance from his manager to win fell completely flat. With a match this bland the babyface should at least have gotten the satisfying win. Add another to the list of totally mediocre WCW/WWF brawls and hardcore matches. **1/2"
[9.0] "Highly underrated. Starts hot with Dustin FLYING into the ring and going after Buck with crazy intensity. It just gets more violent from there as Dustin gets busted open and bleeds all over, and both men lay into each other with some really brutal looking attacks. Brilliant execution and a feeling of genuine heat, which adds a lot. Smartly structured as well as Dustin comes out looking better but Buck looks strong as well, keeping up with Dustin in violence and intensity and only barely winning via a small assist from Parker at the end. Can't see what anyone would dislike about this match, except the idea that supposedly Buck was not a good performer (which does not hold up at all in my view, at least based on this viewing! )."
[6.0] "It's a bloody match, Rhodes bleeds a lot and Buck has a smart use of weapons. It's the southern style of the '80s without limitations, it's a relevant match for Rhodes to show he was more than a technical wrestler. Also, it's entertaining even if it's not on the level of the other hardcore match of the night. ***"
[7.0] "The Bunkhouse match between Bunkhouse Buck and Dustin Rhodes at Spring Stampede 94 wasn't as good of a fight as the tag team Chicago Street Fight was earlier that night but pretty close. This was more of a hardcore style match than anything else and both guys told a great story in this fight. Even though not a lot of weapons were involved in this fight, both Buck and Dustin had the mindset of wanting so badly to beat each other down any way they could to the point where eventually both guys were bleeding not just Dustin. Which was very cool back then because back in 1994 in mainstream wrestling companies like WCW, you never saw that so I thought this was a good match for what it was at that time."
