Yamamoto was out-striking and out-grappling him for the majority of this match, and you could see the desperation in Tamura's eyes as he kept finding ways to knock Yamamoto down and stay in the fight. This was not quite an all-time classic like their 1999 rematch, but it was still fantastic. ****1/2"

Tamura once again fighting from below and almost loses by TKO but pulls it out with a great quick submission. Great match that builds on the greatness of their first encounter"

Yamamoto is dangerous on the mat and can hold for hold with Tamura. All the action on the mat was super smooth and fluid. Yamamoto even busts out Tamura's old rival Volk Han's calf slicer submission in an attempt to tap out the ace of RINGS. There were plenty of big strike exchanges to be found here and watching Tamura fire up and make his comeback had the fans going mental. I don't think this reaches the highs of Tamura/Kohsaka, but it's a damn fine match regardless."

The first 10mins had some great grappling sequences and during the whole match, Yamamoto dominated a lot Tamura, he was about to make him lose to the points system. But Tamura is a beast and his comebacks were so good. The strikes sequences were just insane, they were really awesome with the strikes and the knockouts were so good especially when it's Tamura who took down Yamamoto. Tamura was about to make lose Yamamoto on the points and i loved it. (****1/4)"

But that's when Yamamoto decided to go all-out, and he knocked down Tamura very shortly after that. Next few minutes up until the finish had this 'you don't know what's gonna happen next' feel to it, and the crowd was going wild, reacting to absolutely everything. ****½"

A mature Yamamoto comes out swinging against Tamura and doesn't pull any palm strikes, to say the least. Tamura is in the fight for his life here. Yamamoto doesn't meet Tamura's skillset on the mat, although he is very good, but pushes Tamura to the brink with his striking game and stand-up. It appears Yamamoto controls the match from about 10 minutes on as he gives everything he has to finally defeat his nemesis, but Tamura's conditioning pays off and he gets Yamamoto back down to the mat several times to regain control. After Yamamoto makes a few desperate rope escapes, Tamura finally catches him with a reverse guillotine choke and gets the victory. This was a true war, and it gave me goosebumps. A surefire sign of a RINGS classic. *****"
