| 01.11.2024 | Bayesian | 8.0 | The ground game elements of this match were compelling, but not best in class like other RINGS matches of the era. The powerful kicks and knee strikes by Tamura fell a little flat for me from a psychology perspective because Ilyukhin had been working his legs pretty heavily before that. |

| 22.02.2023 | Mizzle Assault Ant | 9.0 | This match, like many RINGS match, basically featured two things: The standing parts and the lying down parts. When standing, these two guys seek to kill each other with crazy strikes. This is my favorite part, especially since you can tell right away if the strike was good or if the other guy defended or blocked. The lying down parts consist of a lot of very tight grappling, which can be hit or miss for me but here was pretty good. It was just what I hope to see in a big match of this style, definitely intense and at under 20 minutes it didn't overstay it's welcome. |

| 08.11.2022 | boymeetsworld | 8.0 | Ilyukhin isn't really a pro-wrestler which became a little too obvious few times in the second half (and it dragged the match), but overall this match told a simple story about Tamura finding a way to survive Ilyukhin's early dominance, find a way to stop his momentum and turn things around. Tamura looked strong after the win, which all that mattered in the end really. |
| 31.10.2022 | BH62 | 10.0 | It's becoming a bit to put the higher ratings on a RINGS' bout, moreover those inclunding Tamura. He's an insane technical master, but here, he displayed his set of lethal kicks. However, Ilioukhine decided to screw up Tamura's legs. Therefore, the Japanese had to change his strategy to have the upper hand on his opponent. And then, he worked the legs as well as the arms. Tamura got dominated and had to escape on several occasions and hurt, for sure, his confidence. Ilioukhine is a killer and took advantage of it. He just forgot one thing : Tamura's resilience. He encountered his opponent's knees and kicks and and tasted the mat a number of time. The bout was played out on one and only detail, and that's what I love about it.. The work of both men's legs, all the transitions and counters. It's another time smoothier than ever : there is not a single moment when they try to do something to hurt the opponent. Ilioukhine's using of his sambo background was sweet. I'm now a sambo, so I saw how he stood. Moreover, that was my discovery of Ilioukhine. That was a sweet one, yeah. |
| 22.08.2022 | Ofir | 9.0 | Kimura showing again why he's one of the best technical wrestlers of all time. Ilioukhine dominated the early match, using his strength to throw Tamura around, Tamura frantically reaching for the ropes time after time. Slowly Tamura gains control back using his speed advantage and kicking Ilioukhine down as he's too slow to dodge. This all builds wonderfully to a finish when Tamura bests Ilioukhine after a long hard fought uphill battle. Another classic from Tamura and RINGS, Ilioukhine has never looked better. |
| 13.11.2021 | CFOS | 10.0 | Rings World Mega Battle Tournament 1997: Final : Again, Kiyoshi Tamura proved why he is the best technical wrestler of all time and now he face Mikhail Ilioukhine. Like with his 1997 match with Volk Han, Tamura got dominated during a long part of the match and he was obligated to go to the ropes to break the submissions of Mikhail. And when Tamura made his comebacks on Mikhail, his kicks were so brutal and powerful that Mikhail got nearly knocked 3 times. And obviously, every submissions were insane from both. CFØS Ratings : ***** |
| 13.11.2021 | SZ1989 | 10.0 | This should have been Volk Han vs Tamura IV, but the match we got was probably just as good as that could have been. Ilyukhin was very good here, giving Tamura a worthy dance partner for a RINGS classic. Volk Han being Ilyukhin's cornerman was a nice touch as well. The opening stretch saw Ilyukhin dominate Tamura on the ground before Tamura's athleticism and stamina came into play, and despite being down several points due to rope breaks, Tamura comes back and ties the score up with a series of knockdowns. Ilyukhin is a very good defensive wrestler, using his SAMBO skills to keep the match even down the stretch. Ilyukhin gets knocked down again and appears shaken up. Tamura finds Ilyukhin's arm for the submission finish 18 minutes in. This was incredible and Ilyukhin put in the match of his career. Tamura delivered a similar performance to become the 1997 Mega Battle Tournament champion and the first openweight champion for RINGS. Fantastic. ***** |
