1 | 15.03.2025 | Ma Stump Puller | 6.0 | This started off with about 6 minutes of just straight grappling which was by far the strongest part of this match. Rekka is much less known to myself but he looked decent here working under GENTARO's sprawling, occasionally pulling out a interesting hold like a funky inverted Figure-four and whatnot. GENTARO mostly kept control with his more elaborate counters and experience until finally going full tilt with a big backdrop out of Rekka trying to slow things down with a headlock. The match after that got a bit less interesting since they defaulted to generic back and forth strike exchanges and Rekka doing first month spots like top rope dropkicks and the like. I think the last third having GENTARO bumping all over the place before being able to rein back in control and eventually the entire match by just spamming holds on his younger opponent was pretty solid to cap things off, especially since it concluded with a nice struggle over a Cravat Three Quarter Nelson Switch, eventually having Rekka get slid into the pin for the finish. I think this was quite good when they were doing the grappling sections of the match since the two had solid chemistry and knew how to make the struggle between them in trying to grab/sell holds being applied feel convincingly realistic while not going overtly overboard to boredom. Everything that came after didn't hit that same mark even if I get the psychology behind it (Rekka going for what he's better at I.E. high-flying than trying to win out in the holds department) since it just lacked that edge. |
