MVP of the show goes to John Cena for tying the 16 title record and having a fantastic match in the process. |

Doesn't hurt Bayley and you can continue the feud and let her break Charlottes PPV streak down the line (WWE massively botched this). Owens vs Reigns was a war (****1/4) with some crazy spots, Owens collapsing onto the tower of chairs is most memorable. Jericho could only kinda interfere due to the shark cage (brass knucks), so Braun did instead. This keeps the title on Owens which is what matters most. Cruiserweight match was good (***1/2). Neville is excactly what the division needs, finally someone the fans know and care about, dude is also seriously jacked. I liked that he won the match via submission instead of the Red Arrow since he is a heel. Then we received the chance to whitness greatness. The next installment in the Cena vs AJ Styles feud and there best match yet (*****). Now this was an all-time great match. They have not left the ring once in those 24 minutes, something you rarely see. They just wrestled and it was a work of art. Crowd was engaged and into it from the beginning, they hit each other with everything in their move set and even stole each others submission moves, so many nearfalls. Couldn't belive that AJ kicked out of the Super AA. Two more AAs necessary to put AJ away, he looked strong in defeat and CEna ties Ric Flairs record. And NO ONE booed him after the match. And people love to do that, shows how amazing it was and how much he deserves it. Also shoutout to John Cena - in victory he celebrates with a make a wish kid and propably makes his life with that moment. Just a genuinely amazing guy. Royal Rumble matches are fun, first third was amazing, loved Enzo's promo, then nothing happened for a long time cause the stars all had late numbers, Roman perhaps a disappointing thirty, but he didn't win they just wanted to set up him vs Taker for Mania which is fine, Randy was a surprising winner if I remember correctly which is rare and nice to see. Also Goldberg has Brock's number again building to their Mania match. Always looking forward to the Royal Rumble, most fun PPV there is. |

It was a pretty good show all things considered; Charlotte/Bayley had a good opener, Owens/Reigns' No Disqualification match was super fun, chaotic and brutal. As an eight-year-old, I thought Jericho screaming from the shark cage was the funniest thing. Neville/Swann was enjoyable, and the highlight of the show for me was Cena/Styles. This was the blow-off of their rivalry, the last rivalry that I truly enjoyed with the magic of wrestling still being real to me. And as the biggest John Cena mark of all time back then; this match was so good, and the moment of Cena winning the sixteenth World Championship was like euphoric to me, it might sound dumb but I was a little kid. Royal Rumble match, I have fond memories of. I think it had a lot of fun moments, and probably the most stacked field for a Rumble ever. Overall, a great show. 8/10. |

Wenn ich an die letzten 10 Jahre denke oder sogar an die letzten 15 - 20, ist mir kein einziger Royal Rumble im Kopf geblieben wie dieser hier. Weshalb ich diesem PPV die Volle Punktzahl geben muss! Es fängt schonmal einfach sehr stark an mit einem fantastischem Hype-Package der den Event gut Verpackt. Dann fühlt sich jedes Match einfach verdammt gut aufgebaut und wirklich groß an, auch das WWE Cruiserweight Championship Titel Match, was meiner Meinung nach nur wegen einer Sache schlecht wegkommt und die spreche ich später an. Ich fange mal mit dem Opener an. Bayley vs. Charlotte Flair war einfach perfekt aufgebaut und hatte einfach eine perfekte Matchzeit. Knapp 15 Minuten gehen hier vollkommen klar und beide haben eine wirklich gute Chemie miteinander im Ring, was man aber auch schon bei NXT bewundern konnte. Und dann auch noch mit den Insider Infos der 3 Kommentartoren wurde es einfach immer interessanter und Interessanter (****). Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns um den WWE Universal Championship, war ein Fantastisch aufgebautes Match wo Braun Strowman, Reigns den Sieg kostete und somit Owens verteidigen kann. Was nach dem Aufbau von Reigns (So stark wie dieser Typ auch dargestellt wurde), absolut eine gute Entscheidung gewesen ist (****1/2). Neville vs. Rich Swann hatten dann soooo eine Unfassbar (Eigentlich) Gute Story, die aber einfach von den 50.000 Fans im Alamodome kaputt gemacht wurde. Wow war das eine schlechte Crowd bei dem Match, es ist sooo schade das dieses Match so wenig Aufmerksamkeit bekommen hat. Neville hat zwischendurch immer mal wieder versucht die Fans mit einzubeziehen, aber wow haben die sich nicht mitziehen lassen. Also das fand ich schon echt extrem traurig und dadurch hat das match auch einfach nicht die Qualität entwickeln können, auf der es eigentlich hätte sein können (***3/4). AJ Styles vs. John Cena ist dann auf dem Papier immer ein Dream Match. Und hier beim Royal Rumble nicht nur ein Dream Match, sondern auch ein absolutes Knaller Match, was aber auch meiner Meinung nach nur ganz knapp am 5 Sterne Match vorbei Schrappt. Sehr schöne Spots und vorallem Aktionen die man wirklich noch NIE von Cena gesehen hat. AJ Styles führt hier Cena perfekt durch das Match und die beiden haben eine Wirklich Wahnsinns Chemie miteinander im Ring (****3/4). Das Royal Rumble Match war dann auch Gut und zum Glück gewinnt hier Randy Orton (****). |

Beide können aber deutlich mehr. Vorallem Neville der für mich wirklich unter den 10 Top Cruiserweight Wrestlern auf der Welt mit drin ist (***1/4). WWE Title Match gut. John Cena und AJ Styles kann man einfach 1000 mal zusammen in den Ring stellen sie würden immer wieder ein gutes Match draus machen (****1/2). Royal Rumble Match war Solide mit Orton als Sieger. Man baut natürlich auf ein Match zwischen Orton und Wyatt bei Wrestlemania auf (***1/2). Fazit: Ein ganz Guter Royal Rumble PPV. |

Für mich eines der besten Events in der WWE Geschichte und mit Abstand das stärkste im Jahr 2017. Der Opener macht gleich alles richtig und führt Bayleys Story, die man nur wenige Wochen später völlig an die Wand gefahren hat, sinnvoll fort (***1/4) Owens & Reigns nutzen die Stipulation voll aus und liefern eines der besten Singles Matches 2017 ab (****1/4) Die Cruiserweights geben es sich richtig, wobei die Crowd etwas verschnaufen muss. Dennoch eines der besseren PPV-Titlematches der CWs (***1/2) AJ vs. Cena III toppt die Vorgänger sowas von und liefert eines der besten Matches der WWE-Geschichte (****3/4) Und ja auch der Rumble hat mir gefallen. In diesem Jahr konnten die Männer sogar noch einen drauf setzen, dennoch war auch die 2017er Ausgabe gespickt mit erinnerungswürdigen Momenten (***3/4) Wenn jedes Match über *** erhält kann ich doch nur die 10 Punkte zücken. Zudem sieht die Show durch die sagenhafte Kulisse großartig aus! |
