[7.0] "I grew up in the 70's watching Don Owen's Portland Wrestling promotion with future stars like Jimmy Snuka, Roddy Piper and Jesse Ventura until Vince McMahon and WWF effectively killed what had been the most viable indie promotions, include that one. WCWC is one of a handful of grass-roots promotions that have popped up in the Pacific Northwest and is probably the best of the lot. It's a very part-time promotion, with only monthly tapings for four TV future programs in Portland on a Saturday and a live show in Salem one day later. Not a bad strategy to keep costs down, but at some point you want to see live shows more frequently. The wrestlers are a mix of veterans like Gangrel and Matt Striker, guys from the CWFH and Paragon promotions in California and Nevada like Mikey O'Shea and Ethan HD plus youngsters like Marcus Malone and Damien Drake. Not much overall size on the roster and you get a wide variety of mat and mic skills, but these guys work HARD to sell their product and connect with fans more than you'll ever see in WWE or TNA. There's much room for improvement outside the ring (a better website would be huge, more shows, better TV announcers, etc. ), but WCWC does have a weekly TV show in Portland and generally do their best within their limitations. This isn't the second coming of Portland Wrestling, but it's far superior to the promotions you see on ROKU's Indie Wrestling Channel. I'm giving them a 7 but there's lots of potential for better."
